may contain spoilers from seasons 1 & 2

Anyone watch Ted Lasso? I absoloutley love it, and am rewatching it ahead of season 3 coming out later this month.

But aside from me and DH, no one I know watches it!!

I'm hoping we see Nate come back into the fold (Diamond Dogs woof!), and make ammends.

oh, we're sentimental old things here so we loved it despite its treacliness. The right number of SLs wrapped up, some laugh out loud moments and I thought Rupert's Darth Vader look was fabulously OTT. We loved the song too.

Also, the way they kept looping back to things which were referenced in Series 1 & 2 was great. Plus they managed to get Gary Lineker & Thierry Henry, so hurrah for them. We are going to go back over it all to make sure we caught all the references we missed first time round!

EsmeShelby · 31/05/2023 21:33

I wanted Keeley and Roy back together.

Cherrypie32 · 31/05/2023 21:36

The women’s team got me, nice timing but do have a daughter who plays football 😭

RicciardoPerez · 31/05/2023 21:38

The scene of Rebecca walking out of the airport had me exclaiming yes!!!

Sluj · 31/05/2023 21:56

I loved it...and already rewatching from episode 1

tribpot · 31/05/2023 22:29

A pretty good ending I thought. I have to say in that final scene at the party I was terrified Jack was going to turn out to be with Keeley, that really would have been a sour note. Extremely glad Nate wasn't made manager, I wish we could have seen Bex triumph over Rupert but it was good to see him taking a kicking anyway. Sassy was a delight, loved Isaac's goal, and Rebecca's decision to sell to the fans was a just right.

TyneTeas · 31/05/2023 22:34

Worth pausing on the News stand at the airport at the end, so many interesting headlines in magazines and newspapers : )

Also, with spoilers aplenty, this from Nate actor Nick Mohammed

I loved that so much. I really did.

but it makes me so mad that this season was such a mess. The last three episodes in particular have been PERFECT so how did they get the first nine so wrong???

CaveMum · 31/05/2023 22:54

Just watched the last episode - only 1 I’ve managed to watch on drop day!

Loved it, but won’t say anything more in case of spoilers.

CaveMum · 31/05/2023 22:57

For those sharing the Phil Dunster love, I highly recommend listening to the episode of Films To Be Buried With he did with Brett Goldstein. It was a live recording, and so funny. Can’t believe that Ted Lasso was his first comedy show!

Gothambutnotahamster · 31/05/2023 23:06

Loved it all - phenomenal! Loved Rebecca outside the airport and made me think of you lot and how you all saw it coming as that completely passed me by!

Also really hope they make Trent's book as something we can buy as I definitely would!

slamfightbrightlight · 31/05/2023 23:10

Great ending to a very up and down series, glad it went out on a high

notnewgoldenoldie · 01/06/2023 01:18

hated it. Such a massive anticlimactic bore.
Lacking originality.
Disappointed.

CruCru · 01/06/2023 12:00

It was a pretty good ending - it’s hardly Chekhov. I’m wondering if the actor who plays Ted is all right - he’s been a funny colour this series (and has had too much make up on - perhaps that is it).

He was going through a fairly public and painful custody dispute over his children with Olivia Wilde during this series and I think it showed in how seemingly removed he was from pretty much everything!

Southeastdweller · 01/06/2023 12:11

It was alright. I can't say I felt emotional during it in any places. I'm not sorry it's ended for good, the sparkle hasn't been there since season 2 and it was a big mistake making the episodes much longer than before.

ThisNameIsNotAvailable · 01/06/2023 14:27

I’m thought it was brilliant. Perfect ending and I sobbed for quite a lot of it

RemoteDesktop · 01/06/2023 20:40

I thought the finale was mostly okay (some bad moments, some stuff happening off-camera that should have been in the show) but it was such a terrible season (compared to the first one) that I’m glad to see it go.

I see that the critical consensus is broadly as above - okay ending but a very bad season.

My mates daughter watched it early so I was prepared for it being not perfect but thought it was quite good.

Loved:

The song performance by the team and Roy singing along
The penalty
Who was chosen to replace Ted
The whole montage at the end (yes soo sickly but I don't care)
Jamie/Roy at Keeleys
Barbara - my kind of girl

Didn't love:
The Rupert bits - too ott evil
Keeley. Waste of space and frankly Roy and Jamie could both do better
The zaava avocado bit

Overall very schmaltzy but I felt it owned that so I was happy and it made me smile which is all I really wanted from it - it's not Chekhov after all.

The song was the worst bit of the episode, for me.

Wish they’d ditched it and actually included a scene where Ted tells the team he’s leaving.

Such a shame that they ditched character development and personal relationships in favour of making everything as twee as possible.

ExcaliburBaby · 01/06/2023 20:50

i couldn’t shake off the feeling that for a show with two important female characters, they didn’t have any women on the writing team (i don’t think?) and it really really showed.

i did enjoy the finale but glad they are leaving it there.

thebellagio · 01/06/2023 21:26

I agree that I wish I’d seen Ted telling the team his decision. Also the team telling Ted that they wanted Nate back. Both pivotal moments IMO.

also, the penultimate episode with the cliff hanger of Rebecca opening the door to New Bex and the assistant yet nothing came of that other than the commentator saying “Rupert is being accused of….”
I wanted to see Rebecca take him down and for Bex to win control of West Ham in the same way she did with Richmond.

so what was the deal with the green matchbook? And Ted having a same green matchbook?

also the Zava avocado thing was just weird

thebellagio · 01/06/2023 21:27

@ExcaliburBaby i think they did - wasn’t the sex tape episode written by Keeley Hazel aka Bex who was also a former page 3 girl who had the same thing happen to her?

ExcaliburBaby · 01/06/2023 21:32

@thebellagio oh yes i remember reading that actually. nevertheless i still stand by thinking they could have done better on the writing side of the female characters - some elements just felt off to me.

thebellagio · 01/06/2023 21:34

@ExcaliburBaby oh absolutely agree with you.

ive said before on this thread that I felt uncomfortable with how Nate perused Jade. Continually turning up at a girls place of work isn’t romantic. It’s creepy. Borderline stalking and shouldn’t be glamourised.
