may contain spoilers from seasons 1 & 2

Anyone watch Ted Lasso? I absoloutley love it, and am rewatching it ahead of season 3 coming out later this month.

But aside from me and DH, no one I know watches it!!

I'm hoping we see Nate come back into the fold (Diamond Dogs woof!), and make ammends.

I do like Jack’s wardrobe, though!

CruCru · 29/04/2023 15:07

It’s a bit uncomfortable watching Nate pursue Jade, partly because he’s so intense about it. If she’d said no, would she have got into trouble with her boss?

Netaporter · 29/04/2023 21:47

just watched this week’s episode with the family (it’s one of the shows we all watch together) and loved it. Hopefully Keely will tell Jack to do one. Loved the Sam/Ola storyline. Trent Crimm remains a fave. Loved the Will/Beard swap.

This one was written by the Actor that plays Jane. Love that they all collaborate on the series.

Gothambutnotahamster · 29/04/2023 21:59

Who is Jane?

Who is Jane?

Beard's partner - the one he met playing chess, and they're now in a weird relationship!

Gothambutnotahamster · 29/04/2023 22:46

Thank you @mrstea301 - I'd forgotten all about her!

Gwdihooooo · 30/04/2023 08:15

Co dependent’s anonymous 🤣

Netaporter · 03/05/2023 21:37

Anyone watched today’s ep? It was written by the ex-page 3 girl, Keeley Hazell (who I didn’t know was a writer, but she plays Rupert’s new gf) think she was dating Jason sudekis for a while too. I enjoyed it (mainly because I’m willing Roy and Keeley to get back together in the end 😂)

EddieHoweisMYmanager · 03/05/2023 21:41

Just watched this weeks episode, like others I’ve felt this series has been missing something, the little touches that made it quirky or an overarching storyline that holds it all together. There’s been some flashes of brilliance (Jamie teaching Roy to ride a bike, Trent and Colin etc) but I agree the Keeley/Jack storyline brings nothing to the party although from memory Keeley being bi isn’t a new thing. I’m sure she said in S1 she liked women as well.

I’m really hoping Keeley and Roy are endgame but Jamie’s character arc could have him as a surprising contender. There’s a school of thought that says Ted and Rebecca will end up together, that green matchbook in the most recent episode a touch of foreshadowing perhaps?

I just don’t like that there’s only ?4 episodes left and yet nothing has really happened yet this series to move the series along to its conclusion. Is everything going to be wrapped up in a rush leaving everyone feeling dissatisfied?

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 03/05/2023 21:43

Ted looking miserable as fuck every episode isn't helping

ExhaustedPigwidgeon · 03/05/2023 21:43

Watching s1 and s2 makes you realise how much it’s lost its way when you’re slogging through an episode full of keely shagging and snogging and there’s nothing in it that made Ted Lasso such a brilliant breath of fresh air in the first place.

ExhaustedPigwidgeon · 03/05/2023 21:44

And I really hope Roy and Keely don’t get back together. Roy can do better!

Netaporter · 03/05/2023 21:51

My predictions: Ted leaves at the end of the season and returns to his wife and son in the US. Nate returns as his replacement. Keeley and Roy get back together. Rebecca gets back with Sam. I’ll be happy with that.

Probably Jason Sudekis thinking of new ways to screw over Olivia Wilde? 😅

This episode was dull tbh, too much Keeley. I honestly thought some of Colin's sex tapes would have been hacked so his storyline would start going somewhere.

MarciaSaysANumber · 03/05/2023 22:46

There’s a school of thought that says Ted and Rebecca will end up together,

No way! He’d be much better off with the lovely Sassy, if only she’d give him a proper chance. And his ex-wife is a miserable bore - though it does look as if the writers want that to happen.

thebellagio · 04/05/2023 09:39

I can see why they chose to go down the route of phone hacking - my husband said he thinks that happened to Keeley Hazel in the past? But it came out of nowhere - a bit like last week with Sams restaurant and arguing with the home secretary. It's like they've seen how Marcus Rashford took on the government and thought "we have to do something like this" (side note, did you notice Ted reading Rashfords book to his son?).

Same as the SATC spin off - I don't want to be lectured about the moral crusade of the week, especially when there's no defining storyarc through this series.

Nate, I really don't care about his essential stalking of the girl. He was such a dick that he doesn't deserve to have any redemption - especially as he's not trying to right the wrongs that he alone made. Texting Rupert was not a good look.

Keely was interesting. The scenes with Rebecca showed exactly why the relationship with Jack isn't working. There's no chemistry. In just one scene with Rebecca, they brought keeley back to life. The look when Jamie saw how Roy reacted to news of the tape just showed the brotherhood between the two, and the way Jamie apologised and checked on Keely at the end showed such huge character development - all of which is lacking with characters like Ted, who is still exactly the same as S1E1.

I honestly can't see how this series is going to end with just three or four episodes left. There's been no continual narrative. Are they even in the season still? Did they manage to turn things around after last week's efforts? There was absolutely no mention of football whatsoever in this episode!

thebellagio · 04/05/2023 09:41

@memoriesofamiga I thought the same as you. That Colin would be hacked and that's how this storyline develops. The fact that the captain (I don't even know his name, that's how underdeveloped he is as a character) saw but nothing happened from then on shows how weird the show has got. Is it a writing issue or an editing issue?

It was an hour long episode again (no need) but they can't seem to get the pacing or the storytelling right

Southeastdweller · 04/05/2023 09:41

There’s just two episodes left to go now.

thebellagio · 04/05/2023 09:51

christ, just 2 more?

What is there to wrap up?

  • Rebecca and being pregnant (must be otherwise what was the point of the visit to the fertility doctor plus the random dutchman)
  • Rebecca and the green matchbook (which Ted also had in his hand yesterday)
  • Rebecca knowing that Rupert is cheating on new Rebecca (again, otherwise what was the point?)
  • Nate and the girlfriend
  • Nates' redemption arc
  • Colin being gay - how will this come out now Trent knows and also the captain?
  • Roy training Jamie to become as good as Zavva
  • The competition between Richmond and West Ham - I assume it will be some sort of cup final event? DH said he thought he'd read that they'd done some filming at Wembley
  • Keeley and Jack - will they split up?
  • Will Keely reunite with Roy or even Jamie?

Is there anything else?

slamfightbrightlight · 04/05/2023 10:13

There was a football reference right at the start (with Jeff Stelling cameo) - I think it said Richmond had won their last 4 games.

tribpot · 04/05/2023 10:15

There's four episodes left, this is a 12-episode season. But even with 4, there is a hell of a lot left to cover, and WTF was this episode even for? If it was to focus on the effects of phone hacking, why didn't we see Keeley facing the press, or the upset it must have caused to her family? Why not at least show her doing a press conference to say she isn't embarrassed and she doesn't apologise? Just something instead of wibbling about all episode after Jack (and what the hell was that baby doll dress version of Julia Roberts at the polo).

Why was there no football in this one? (Apart from West Ham). They seemed to be getting the hang of total football last week, and have won four games in a row but we haven't got to see any of them. It felt like an episode done on the cheap (hence no press conference scene, no Richmond matches).

EddieHoweisMYmanager · 04/05/2023 10:22

Do you know what else I miss. Ted bringing Rebecca her shortbread.

slamfightbrightlight · 04/05/2023 10:29

I get the sense Jason Sudeikis’ mind is elsewhere all through this series, which to be fair it probably was. He is the heart of the show and without him being “on it” everyone else is just kind of aimlessly moving around him.

I miss the psychologist lady too.

tribpot · 04/05/2023 10:32

EddieHoweisMYmanager · 04/05/2023 10:22

He did actually do this in this episode! When he goes in to ask her about the private investigator.

@slamfightbrightlight yes, a real shame they haven't got Sharon this season. I do think a lot of them appear distracted this season - Brett Goldstein must have had Shrinking in development at the same time, Hannah Waddingham has had loads of things on the go. It feels like they've outgrown Ted Lasso. The heart really has gone out of it.

EddieHoweisMYmanager · 04/05/2023 10:50

Oh I missed it!
