Oh I love it already. That elderly gentleman was amazing.. as are many of them.

And I do love Claudia. She's so warm and funny.

I'm watching it with intrigue as to the pianists' background, how/why they started etc and also their styles.

I'm a bit sceptical towards the idea of playing virtuosic stuff (and well!) having just learnt from YouTube- are we just taking their word for it??- but I'm just an old grump.

The piano that was owned by my DF’s grandparents was donated to a train station

That pink haired mum of autistic boy who played her own piece was a really beautiful player.

@CinderellasBoot I agree. They must be very gifted to have achieved that level without years of tuition and practise

I am really enjoying this - some of the performances were really moving and it's just been lovely to watch and listen to.

@CinderellasBoot - I had a tear in my eye listening to pink-haired lady's composition. It was beautiful.

He was my least favourite, but only because his style didn't appeal to my classic old fogeyness. I'm sure he's very clever

I'm really only watching it because I'm a huge Mika fan, but I did enjoy the piano playing too.

Who was your least favourite OP?

I wish I'd seen the whole programme tonight. The last one I saw was the 18yo "Grade 8 in 4 years" own composition girl.

I only caught the end of it, but really enjoyed it.
The pink haired lady got so emotional when Lang Lang played 🥲

I didn't see the guy who won playing, did he sing too?

I found it really 'peaceful' to watch, if that's the right word.

I didn't like the guy who through either, but I hate rap music. Am watching again now on channel 4 +1 😆

What did he play (sorry I didn't see the end of the programme so don't know results)? Was it the dude with sunglasses and peroxided hair who did a rap type spoken piece?

I didn't really agree with the winner either.

I can only think that they chose him because he was a bit more unique (they can't exactly chose a whole lot of people doing the same thing for the final or whatever way they're going to do it).

Anyone know how many episodes there are going to be?

I didn't like the winner's rapping (not a rap fan), but it was very different, he played well, and had created a new audience for the piano with his piece which will appeal to a new, younger, less classical following.
I personally liked the pink haired lady's piece the best, here's hoping they have a few wild cards to allocate to 'best of the rest' The elderly gentleman was amazing considering he was in his 90s

Tuned in, not knowing what to really expect but really enjoyed it.

Love Claudia though so that probably helped.

I watched this last night - really loved it. The guy who went through was certainly different, and very talented, but I loved the pink-haired lady too. I was hoping Melissa would win, though.

Just watching it now, how is this possible? I mean self taught without years and years of practice and lessons, the first guy had only been teaching himself off youtube for a year.
