Oh I love it already. That elderly gentleman was amazing.. as are many of them.

And I do love Claudia. She's so warm and funny.

Goodness, I just read your post in full @Piggywaspushed. Am I not allowed to say I didn't like it and the reasons why? That's incredible.

Shall leave you all to it and I hope you continue to enjoy.

No, of course you are. I think some of us wondered why, and I was trying to explain why I don't think these are just 'sob stories'.

Tbh the Status Quo guy had no sob story and , yes, this did make him less interesting.

The fact that loquacious Mika was rendered speechless by one girl says everything really. And I did think we needed to understand just how much disability affected the girl's life to understand in full how extraordinary her talent is. But also how others have used music to pull them out of despond, despair or grief. There were some who didn't have stories and we just heard them play. But even knowing some are self taught is incredible to me!

She did always introduce Lang Lang as the world's greatest pianist too.

Which makes me laugh - there are several internationally renowned pianists who are better than Lang Lang. Better than last week though when CW referred to him as the greatest ever pianist......

Lucy was outstanding. The crazy involuntary jerks of her body against the beautiful calmness of her piano playing really moved me.

They seem to find nice things to say about everyone but were quite dismissive about the man who was studying music at Oxford. They were very complimentary about his partner's singing voice but just said something about him banging the keys too hard. It made me feel uncomfortable and I imagine it would be quite embarrassing for him.

Lucy's performance was remarkable and so moving. Congratulations to her marvellous teacher too! He has played a fantastically skilful role in helping her to flourish.

I'm not sure how I feel about Lucy being on the programme tbh after her mum saying she couldn't hold a conversation, would she have fully understood what was happening?

They really weren't nice at ALL about the Oxford chap playing with his girlfriend,I don't think one nice thing was said!

I liked the jazz boy,he was great 😊

For the most part, I've agreed with the judges comments. I thought the duet was awful in comparison to others but not necessarily awful in themselves. Likewise, I'd have walked past the girl who did No Scrubs because, for me, it was torturous. Why would you slow down that track till it became boring?

The juxtaposition between Lucy's involuntary movements of her head and the precision of her hands was just mind blowing.

When they asked the guy to stop singing and you could see the difference in his playing it was a real moment. And, makes you realise that those who do both (Elton John, Chris Martin, Alicia Keys, etc.) are incredible!

This is such a lovely programme, it’s one of those ones that I’m not sure how they’d do a second series because the element of surprise at the end wouldn’t work so I’m just savouring this one! Love it so much.

Lucy was incredible, mind blowing. I love Chopin it really is beautiful. I felt like the man in the duet needed to be taken down a peg or two to be honest as he seemed very arrogant.

When Mika and Claudia were on The One Show, they said that there would only be one series because of the exact reason you mentioned. Shame though.

I agree with you about the man in the duet. Some people may think Mika and Lang Lang were being harsh on him, but they know what they're talking about.

Oh my !
Lucy was just incredible.
I wish they could choose more than one.
So many talented pianists, I am in awe.

I hated every minute at my piano lessons. I'm sorry now I didn't learn despite the best efforts of my Mum.

I loved it, thought Lucy was amazing, I couldn't really see why they were so excited about the last boy really, he was good but I didn't think his voice was tjar good, he played brilliantly considering his experience though.

The guy that did Rocking all over the World baffled me, someone who is clearly so musically talented but has no ear for hearing that his singing is not good at all. He was fantastic once he just played.

I loved the lady with the red/punk hair in episode 1, beautiful composition and passion.

They weren't good as a duo though.
Lang Lang said 'he isn't playing for her' and I knew exactly what he meant.

Lucy was phenomenal and I blubbed right through 😭 but I really felt the pain of the older bloke with the piano in a van (same piece of music?)

Anyone else getting the piano lesson ads on this thread 😄

Sean with Asperger's? Amazing. What a lovely lad and his playing was so personal and engaging. Surely it will be him? (But I loved the Chopin girl too)

I like this show. Lang Lang doesnt seem to know much though, I cant remember what he said but in the previous episodes he asks about things that are fairly general knowledge although I presume he doesnt live in the UK

But today his question was 'whats Baileys'!!!

He may know a lot about music but if he spends most of his waking hours at the piano then I'm not surprised he doesn't know what Baileys is.

They're sitting in front of the Steinway now. Others played the one with red bits.
