Oh I love it already. That elderly gentleman was amazing.. as are many of them.

And I do love Claudia. She's so warm and funny.

I saw some of this being filmed in Leeds train station. Claudia was lovely.

Piggywaspushed · 18/02/2023 15:16

It was a lovely programme. I loved pink lady too.

On a point of order, the winner's hair definitely was not peroxide!

Riverlee · 19/02/2023 08:47

This has become my new favourite programme (after Death in Paradise).

Love the pink hair lady as well - her piece was beautiful.

Also loved the first pianist, the truck driver, and the 16 year old who went to grade eight in four years.

The Isle of Wight singer was good as well - Mika was enraptured by him. Rap isn’t my type of music (nor is classical really) but he was superb

Really lovely programme.

Ah whoops I don't know why my memory told me that he has much fairer hair than he actually has.

Delete my peroxide description.

Piggywaspushed · 19/02/2023 14:59

That's OK. I was terribly struck by his completely blond eyelashes so it was definitely all real!

Fiona Bennett web page

Just did a bit of googling and found link to ‘red hair lady’ web page.

LadyEloise1 · 19/02/2023 17:10

I loved it too and thought Claudia was the perfect presenter.
I wasn't keen on the winner - not my type of music but his backstory was interesting.
Loved the pink haired lady, the young girl whose baby cousin slept through her playing, the elderly gentleman, the 11 year old boy and the mechanic.

I thought the premise would be just random people passing by and hidden cameras capturing them.
How were the pianists chosen ?

Riverlee · 19/02/2023 22:30

I’m guessing they were invited to come and play something on the piano, to be filmed for a tv programme. researchers probably scoured the internet - tick took, you tube, recommendations, etc and invited people in. Also, there’s websites dedicated ‘to be on a show’ where people can apply.

Found this photo whilst looking. Shows how many film crew are involved. Is that three or four cameramen, plus sound, etc.

The winner (Jay?) wasn't just rapping
He was reading the poetry of his life's experiences in his mind whilst playing the most beautiful piece of music on the piano in perfect harmony tandem.
IMHO

Piggywaspushed · 20/02/2023 06:38

I wish we could have heard the words better.

LadyEloise1 · 20/02/2023 09:57

Thank you @Riverlee

Who are your favourites tonight?

I like the first jazz boy and also the gentleman who played the Chopin.

Thought the judges were a bit harsh on the duet couple.

covetingthepreciousthings · 22/02/2023 21:33

Gosh this is amazing, I hope she wins tonight's episode.

HeadsShouldersKneesAndMyGreatAuntsWalkingStick · 22/02/2023 21:36

New favourite. This girl!

Staggeringly beautiful playing.

Piggywaspushed · 22/02/2023 21:37

That was extraordinary.

Piggywaspushed · 22/02/2023 21:38

Chopin draws the crowds too, must be said.

Bonjovispjs · 22/02/2023 21:38

She was amazing and you could see Mika and Lang Lang were trying to hold back tears, she has to go through.

MrsElm · 22/02/2023 21:39

Lucy was incredible. I was so moved by her performance and her story.

Mika's face, words completely failing him.

Shortkiwi · 22/02/2023 21:40

OMG, just blubbed my way through her playing, just incredible.

lipstickwoman · 22/02/2023 21:41

I'm no pianist but I could tell Lucy was exceptional.

Oh what a lovely boy.

covetingthepreciousthings · 22/02/2023 21:47

This is such a lovely calming show to say it's a talent show, I think the stripped back format is soo much better!

Shortkiwi · 22/02/2023 21:40

I did too!

I'm wondering if they'll chose the boy who did Iris, going by their reaction.

I hope they choose Lucy.

MrsElm · 22/02/2023 21:50

I didn't realise that they choose just one. I couldn't decide between Lucy and Daniel. What doesn't help, and is actually messing with my head, is that my DC have the same names!

murasaki · 22/02/2023 21:51

Loved that last lad, but also Lucy. Shame they can't pick two.
