Couldn't see a thread on this....

Nicola Bulley Ch 5 9pm tonight
OP posts:

Not sure how I feel about this... One part of me really wants to watch it as I can't stop thinking about this case, but the other part of me thinks it's in bad taste. It feels too soon for a TV show about it.

I suppose that depends on how it is handled. Is it going to be trying to jog peoples memories and get new witnesses to come forward? If so, not in bad taste at all.

Viviennemary · 10/02/2023 16:54

If its being made with the co-operation of the police and others involved hopefully it has good intentions to maybe jog somebodys memory or get a witness to come forward. But I agree it does seem soon.

Her husband wants a land search as he doesn’t think she is in her river. He clearly isn’t in agreement with the police so has has to do this.

It makes me think of the Mcann’s situation, when the Portuguese police were so focused on them as suspects that they wasted valuable time. The focus on the river must feel the same to Nicola’s family.

Blessedwithsunshine · 10/02/2023 17:28

Provided the family have agreed to it, then it might be extremely helpful.

There is a collective feeling in the country that is quite unusually United that something about this story isn’t right - that she is in a different place/something happened. We need to find her.

Quite frankly I am amazed it hasn’t been done already.

LlynTegid · 10/02/2023 17:30

If it is a Crimewatch style appeal, fine. Otherwise seems a bit sensationalist.

No comparison in my opinion with the McCanns, a couple who left children alone just to have a meal.

Villagetoraiseachild · 10/02/2023 17:34

Thanks for posting Op.
I could be wrong but my gut feeling has always been that she didn't go into the river.
Still praying she will be found unharmed.

cherish123 · 10/02/2023 17:35

Hope it helps.
I just hope her children and parents get some answers.

MySugarBabyLove · 10/02/2023 17:36

Far too sensationalist. This is the kind of programme you’d expect yearsvdown the line, like they’ve done e.g. with Claudia Lawrence.

MySugarBabyLove · 10/02/2023 17:42

And the police have just confirmed that they are keeping an open mind. In fact they have never said that they weren’t, it is the media and public who are saying that they’ve ruled everything else out, purely because they have focussed so heavily on the river because of the odds being that she fell in there.

MySugarBabyLove · 10/02/2023 17:44

As for Madeleine McCann, it was natural that the police focus on the parents as suspects as far more children are murdered by their parents than not.

And the truth is we’ll never know what happened, but ironically it was one of these type documentaries on channel5 who investigated the German suspect who has been named and concluded that he wasn’t involved in her disappearance.

Sorry I also totally agree , hopefully will be absolutely wrong.

ssd · 10/02/2023 21:24

The police said then they are watching people, who comes forward to speak about the case over and over. This of course is totally different but really makes the hair on my neck stand up.

ssd · 10/02/2023 21:25

I hope I'm wrong as i said. I hope she comes home to her family and I'm totally wrong.

I honestly think those threads are nothing more than grubby grief vulturism. I’m amazed that MN have allowed them to stand.

FitYeDaeinYeMadRadge · 10/02/2023 21:28

That bobby doesn’t look like she’s slept since it happened.

JoonT · 10/02/2023 21:45

If it helps locate her, then great. But that isn’t why viewers will be tuning in. For a lot of people, this is a juicy whodunnit.

ssd · 10/02/2023 21:48

I feel awful for speculating. Exactly what i thought badly of others who speculated. But this tv feels wrong.

Isbemorelikemeandbelesslikeyou · 10/02/2023 22:05

@ssd The tv feels wrong?

lollipoprainbow · 10/02/2023 22:07

Not aware of any other missing person having this sort of programme/m. Feels odd
