@XanaduKira - why do you say that? He’s totally capable and a despicable human being but why do you say “definitely”. I have only re-watched series 1 - and apart from Catherine saying so and TLR being vile /land totally capable, I didn’t see the evidence. It was v clear to me (more so on a second watching) that Becky was going through a v challenging time in her life. Daniel’s views on Becky were quite enlightening.

Wishing you a speedy recovery 💐

I've rewatched the previous series prior to watching this one. TLR definitely raped Becky and I'm struggling to understand why anyone thinks otherwise?

Looking forward to tomorrow night's episode.

I agree. He definitely did.. surely... hence the whole raping Ann thing? Becky wrote it in a note she left for CC too?

@Hels20 because Becky made it clear to her mum that he'd raped her (even if she didn't say the words specifically) & she couldn't cope with the baby who was the product of that rape, hence killing herself.

Catherine keeping Ryan led to her and Becky's dad splitting up as he couldn't deal with Ryan either and nor could her brother. This is also why they were barely in Ryan's life when he was little and throughout series one & why Becky's dad apologised to Catherine in the last episode for leaving her to deal with Ryan alone.

It's all so clear cut to me, that I'm surprised others see it differently (other than TLR being so good looking , especially in series one, that people are trying to see innocence even when it's so blatantly not there).

JaneJeffer · 21/01/2023 21:05

It definitely wasn't definite!

CuriousMama · 21/01/2023 21:05

@Blondeshavemorefun have you had an operation in your leg?

I don't think so

XanaduKira · 21/01/2023 21:36

I don't think so either. I think Neil is a weak individual who has given into badgering from Ryan. I think he also feels bad about not seeing his own kids and therefore thinks this is the right thing to do in a perverse way.

Also wouldn't be surprised if he's involved in some dodgy dealings due to where he works.

Rightsraptor · 21/01/2023 21:39

Hello everyone. My first time posting here, I'm usually on the feminism board.

On the 'was Becky raped by TLR or not?' theme - in S1 Daniel says to Catherine that Becky was obsessed with TLR and it hadn't happened how she, Catherine, thought it had.

So there is a reason to believe C is stuck in her own interpretation of events and we're going to find out the truth, which could be that Ryan isnt the product of rape, within the next 15 days.

Hels20 · 21/01/2023 21:51

On a totally separate note - aren’t Sarah and Siobhan perfect as siblings? They have a believable similarity and I love both actresses!! Roll on tomorrow.

thanks @Rightsraptor - interesting. I just think that this might be a revelation at the end but I think as Becky is dead it will always be ambiguous.

Are you having injections in your stomach? I tried to PM you but couldn't?

HannaHat · 21/01/2023 22:09

Where possibly could the reveal come from though that Becky wasn't raped? A diary discovery would be too contrived imho. It could only come from TLR.
I just think it would send a weird message, Ryan feels better about not being the product of rape yet he did viciously rape someone else?
As I said earlier, I do think it's best left ambiguous.

Clocking in. What if TLR is the one killed in an escape attempt but by Anne!

I also think that Anne will likely kill TLR this season

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 21/01/2023 23:32

DH and I are binge watching 1&2

He's never seen it before 😮

I'd forgotten a lot of S2 - it's like a Coronation Street reunion! Vicky who worked on the make up counter (Steph Barnes) trying to blackmail her affair partner copper (Mr Moseley from Downton, probably also been in Corrie), his wife is Roy Cropper's Hayley, and there's the lah-di-da detective (Becky). There's no doubt even more of the cast from the Street 🤣 including Raquel of course!

Yep I predict this as well. In front of Ryan. Leaving him conflicted over love for his Dad and knowing it was the right thing to do.

BoreOfWhabylon · 21/01/2023 23:39

<gets comfy on new thread>

JaneJeffer · 21/01/2023 23:45

In front of Ryan
Hope not. I get stressed when anyone mentions Ryan being involved in TLR's death.

sweatervest · 22/01/2023 00:12

I have literally just thought that surely Sally will sort out every loose end on the next three eps else there'll be room for season four which she said won't happen so maybe TLR will meet his untimely demise and Ryan will be okay and cc will realise her passport needs renewing and she can't go to the Himalayas.

Also James Norton lilac cardigan that he wore on Graham Norton. Can't find it anywhere on the www. Literally want to buy it. Literally as in desperately, quite honestly.

RandomersAssociation · 22/01/2023 01:24

Literally want to buy it.

Why? I’d have to throw / give an item of clothing away if I saw it being worn on TV. Who wants to be known as the person wearing the same cardigan as X?

I highly doubt every loose end will be tied up. Purely because that never happens. We’ll be left in varying states of uncertainty for the rest of our lives.

She could have been obsessed with TLR but still raped.

Daniel's statement in S1 was the sort of classic victim blaming that a great writer would include for realism. It is realistic for an angry and hurt young man to suggest that it wasn't really rape because Becky fancied TLR and was knocking about with him. That doesn't mean she wasn't brutally raped. Maybe it wasn't even brutal, maybe she was off her face and vulnerable and he took advantage but that would still be rape, although Catherine's use of the word brutal suggests she knew something about some violence or injuries or something.
