I thought it was a bit fancy for a prison tattoo @Twatling but they've got, phones, hair clippers, tuna galore so why not tattoo equipment? Grin

Fair enough @JaneJeffer Grin

WhatICallMyUsername · 23/01/2023 19:33

Ah okay. Just a thought as I haven't actually seen it myself 🤣

storminabuttercup · 23/01/2023 19:45

I hope Catherine gets the chance to have to talk to TLR, maybe in a situation like the guy who was going to set fire to himself or the copper who was going to jump off the bridge, but she gets to tell him everything she thinks of him. Then he dies

I love JN as he such a huge advocate for the type 1 community. He is utterly chilling as TLR but it is somewhat ruined for me as I keep thinking “I wonder what his blood glucose is doing now”…

😆

Jo's parents told the police she is 26 years old and that she had got together with Rob when she was doing her A levels. So it's entirely plausible for Rob to be 6-10 years older than her making him a maximum of 36/37 years old.

Season 3 trailer

potential spoiler as it includes a couple of v short scenes not in first four episodes

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/01/2023 20:52

Tbh I am still Amazed that Ryan wanted to see his dad after being doused in petrol and threatening to burn him and his granny in s1

fairypeasant · 23/01/2023 22:03

This is talked about in the primal wound- children long for their parents, even if their parent has damaged them. I think it's quite life-like that Ryan makes excuses for his dad, and longs for his dad to be a dad.

I don't think he was prepared for his dad to be out of prison, though. Ryan will be reet, he'll defend his granny.

Guesswhatimnotarobot · 23/01/2023 22:12

@fairypeasant What’s the primal wound?

Aye, but them clippers were a bit blunt I reckon!

fairypeasant · 23/01/2023 22:25

The primal wound is a book.

Did anyone see JN on The One Show last week talking about how a real life barber came in and they just left the cameras rolling for 1.5 hours while he cut JN's hair.
1.5 hours? That's some haircut!

Emotionalsupportviper · 23/01/2023 09:52

If it was their first language, and they'd been brought up by their babuskas who couldn't speak English while their parents were out running drugs, it's very believable.

The detective who searched neck beards home was very strange.

I'm wondering if he has a suspicion but wants to come back with a team rather than find the body on his own and risk a battering from Neckbeard.

They’re not Russian, they’re Balkan. Their names sound Croatian but they could be from anywhere in former Yugoslavia. They don’t have ‘babuskas’ in that part of the world.

JaneJeffer · 23/01/2023 23:04

They should air that @middleager I reckon the viewing figures would be massive!

Hoping someone can answer a (possibly) really daft question (only cos it's bothering me probably too much lol):

How did TLR get such an elaborate tattoo with Ryan's name on it? He didn't know about him until s1 and went to prison straight after that....?

Also....just rewatched the trailer. There's a very, very brief scene whereby all of the coppers in the nick are rushing off in an emergency. Might suggest that Catherine ends up in another 'code zero' situation?

Maybe it's just the name that he had tattooed in prison.

dormouses · 23/01/2023 23:40

I think the scales fell from Ryan's eyes in the court room, watching TLR acting all cocky.

TLR not being Ryan's actual dad is a definite possibility. But wouldn't Catherine make more of that or prove it with a DNA test?

Can't wait for it all to unfold.

Maranello · 23/01/2023 23:56

I don't buy for one moment the idea that TLR isn't Ryan's real dad. The overarching theme of the three series has been the notion of nature v nurture - we've seen so many scenes in which Catherine has agonised over whether Ryan is going to turn out like Tommy. And although she does love Ryan, we've also seen her say (in a previous series) that she can't stand him, because of this fear that he'll turn out to be a bad 'un like his dad. A big reveal now that TLR is no relation would throw away three series of storytelling. It makes no sense.

I also agree with pp that a big reveal that Becky wasn't raped would be massively undermining of what the series has tried to tell us about rape and trauma.

On which note, I thought Poppy (with her coat on) wasn't looking at anything in the hall when she came back in with her sister and her dad - he'd gone to the bedroom in search of the mum and I think Poppy was simply waiting there to hear if things were going to kick off. Which is really sad.

Deadringer · 23/01/2023 23:59

I always thought that when Catherine said TLR wasn't Ryan's dad, she meant that he was his father but was not his dad in any way that matters, just a nasty stranger that shared his dna. But I might have missed something.

HannaHat · 24/01/2023 00:22

She'd be letting TLR know he's definitely Ryan's dad if she got the dna test done, I wouldn't in her shoes.

Comewithmefriday · 24/01/2023 01:57

Watched all of first series, just finished. My god that was harrowing.
Dear little Ryan, what a fantastic actor. He played it so brilliantly, every emotion, every cog working in his brain, I wanted to give him a hug, I loved seeing Catherine cuddling him at the end, such an archetypal maternal pose, exquisite.

This 6 hour binge has completely finished my approx 26 hour crush onTLR

I was multitasking through the first few episodes, do we ever see Becky Cawood at, flashbacks or owt?

Listened to the grace dent podcast too, he sounded very sweet, v posh but seemed grounded , open and self aware.

Comewithmefriday · 24/01/2023 01:59

Ooh,, I haven't googled yet but was Joyce sue osmond in eastenders about a billionty years ago?

Agree with all of this.

Poor Poppy and Ryan, both children born of abuse.

Netaporter · 24/01/2023 05:28

@Comewithmefriday no different actor.

Haven’t listened to the Obsessed podcast this week, but the actor who plays Faisal has apparently revealed that several endings have been recorded in case of leaks 😉

RandomersAssociation · 24/01/2023 05:48

Several endings recorded?

I don’t like the thought of that. I’d prefer to know we’re getting a finale SW has plotted and planned over years - that will be emotionally, philosophically, and narratively logical, cathartic and satisfying. How can that be if it’s left to random choice and dependent on loose lips on Twitter?
