Loving the new series. Wonder whether the top copper, Mike, will turn out to be police link with drug gang?

Maybe it will be the new policewoman at the top who is the link with the crime family because in Series 1 and 2, Catherine kept saying it was people higher up who didn't do anything about the drugs.

Was it a woman? I couldn't tell if they were an effeminate male, female or trans. Yes they must be relevant to be included in a scene. I hope it doesn't all go a bit LOD with their overhyped H storyline.

Yes good point winnie I’d thought that scene was a bit random but it makes sense now to drop little hints in like that. So maybe it is the top female cop that is the link.

I honestly can’t see it being Claire taking Ryan. It would be so out of character, unless it turns out that she is being coerced by Neil.

I thought it might be Roz.. but not sure which male.

I just find it odd that a 16 yr old child can visit someone in prison without parental/guardianship witten consent (obviously TLR doesnt count).

Unless whoever has taken him has forged something, in which case whoever is taking him clearly knows its a huge safe guarding issue and just not an ill advised trip to see poor, estranged biological df.

In the six years or so since series 2, in RL the old police station has been bought and turned in to a vets practice. The big shiny new police station in this series is actually the defunct and exceedingly crap swimming baths

What I find odd is that either the adult taking Ryan knew the injunction had lapsed or it was just a coincidence. I still think Clare took Ryan but can't see her being on top of the legal paperwork. Maybe TRL was and wrote to Ryan - who told Clare.

Yes, I think whoever it was knew the injunction had lapsed so it has to be someone close to Catherine to know that she'd forgotten to renew it.

Is it possible that Ros is sleeping in spare room because she is furious with her DH and they have fallen out over him taking Ryan? Perhaps she did it with him a few times and now wants it to stop?

Yes there was definitely a theme running about this too. The pharmacists (who's giving her the drugs) DDs mentioned it and there was a whole scene about it in their kitchen with their mum.

But then with brilliant dramas such as happy valley quite often these significant things are thrown in to be a decoy and are totally mundane.

And yes - she must take it off at school!

I cant stand the whispery voice. Is it her actual voice? Or is it put on? I might feel slightly bad if it really is her voice...

But surely Richard wouldn't draw Catherine's attention to any problems at home if it was due to covert prison visiting. Think Roz is in the spare room because she knows her dh and Catherine should still be together.

It's awful because you want a happy ending, we don't want slightly dim Clare coerced by her bf and breaking Catherine's trust which would lead to them being estranged.

I hope its Chesko's Mum or someone else random who maybe has fallen for Tommy's 'it wasn't me!' stories.

I think it’s Clare and Neil. If you remember Neil lost his wife and children due to his alcoholism and I think he’s convinced Clare that Ryan needs a Dad, even a horrible/flawed one.

Why is he learning Spanish?

I've just remembered in one of the trailers Ann was shouting at Ryan about his dad - so definitely not Ann taking him. Although tbh I didn't think she would. TLR raped her and would have murdered her if Catherine hadn't found her.

I can see Clare thinking it's better someone from the family goes with Ryan so they can counter whatever TLR says and so Ryan doesn't have a 'secret' relationship with him. Does anyone remember how long TLR's sentence was?
