ah highfivemum beat me to it. I think Roz is involved. I wonder if the guy that played the commissioner in the first series (will find his name) is it involved as the guy protecting them? Is it also really awful that I want to see TLR jump prison and give nasty PE teacher man a good hiding 🙈 i wonder what that poor little girl is hiding under her coat.

Namechangedforthisonetoday · 02/01/2023 08:18

Yes Roz was in series 1. If she found out Catherine and her husband were shagging again she’s got a motive.

Piggywaspushed · 02/01/2023 08:19

Clare's actual son whose name I cant remember, was married in earlier series but now seems to have become involved with Ann the kidnap and rape victim from series 1.

That's Catherine's son , and he is Daniel.

Namechangedforthisonetoday · 02/01/2023 08:20

Or it’s no one at all we’ve seen yet and Ryan is being groomed by the Knezevics?

Namechangedforthisonetoday · 02/01/2023 08:33

Plot twist, Neil is TLRs Dad 😬 I’ll stop now 🙈

Clawdy · 02/01/2023 08:38

So confusing. Who is Roz?

Namechangedforthisonetoday · 02/01/2023 08:39

Sorry Thequeenofwishfulthinking I see you also had the same thought last night! I definitely think Neil is the man taking him, but not sure about Clare being the woman. There is definitely the insinuation that Neil and Ryan have a special relationship, the high five, jokingly telling him off etc - as though he’s in there with Ryan.

Richard's second wife.

Clawdy · 02/01/2023 08:41

Just seen the Radio Times link - cast with pictures! What I needed after seven years!

TokyoSushi · 02/01/2023 08:43

One thing that's been bothering me. If Ryan wrote to TLR, did he ever write back? If he did, where did he send the letter? Surely not to Catherine's?

I too think there's something sinister about Neil. So does Catherine.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 02/01/2023 08:45

Roz is Catherine's ex-husband's current wife. She didn't come to Ryan's birthday tea and the husband reported that she is now sleeping in the spare room. I can't remember whether we saw her in series 1 or not.

It's always a worry when a top notch drama returns for a new series whether they can maintain the standard. So far, Happy Valley series 3 is shaping up to be an absolute belter! I really liked the bit at the very beginning when the two male CID officers were patronising Catherine and she just smiled and then came out with everything she'd observed and deduced at first sight leading her to ID the corpse. Brilliant!

I'm worried about the little girl who doesn't take her coat off too, but surely she must take it off at school? If she didn't, wouldn't that set off alarm bells?

chelle0 · 02/01/2023 08:48

@TrentCrimm yes we did! You can quite clearly see the pool!

shreddies · 02/01/2023 09:00

I really don't think it's Ann taking Ryan to see TLR. Agree most likely is Neil, probably with Clare. Poor Catherine

Southeastdweller · 02/01/2023 09:08

Of course it’s not Ann. Sally Wainwright wouldn’t alienate audiences by deciding Ann is colluding with the man who raped her.

Whitney168 · 02/01/2023 09:26

Loving it so far, particularly Catherine putting the SOCOs in their place about the human remains.

My only complaint so far is TLR's plastic 'scar and wig' cap, which was bizarrely obvious in some scenes.

ilovebrie8 · 02/01/2023 09:30

Loved it it’s been a long wait for HV to be back! Catherine is bloody brilliant...the PE teacher is a psycho hope he gets sorted out. So who took Ryan to the prison?

Thing is people don't always act as we expect. Whoever is doing it is clearly doing it to support Ryan, to be a person he can trust and feel safe with. I doubt anyone will be doing it to collude with Royce (unless whispery TA has resurfaced).

I do think it's more likely to be her fragile and probably easily manipulated sister who again will be thinking it is in Ryan's interests to support him.

Madness obviously, it was going to come out and surely will be a deal breaker for Catherine if someone trusted has gone behind her back.

Loved it, shame the old more personable police station has gone and how on earth is a tiny pharmacist able to sell a load of meds. These things will all have to be accounted for, yes he'll be forging prescriptions no doubt but surely such a high rate of diazepam dispensing would've been flagged up.

TottersBlankly · 02/01/2023 09:37

Mesmerising TV.

Early prediction - the little girl in the anorak will inflict serious damage on her father (the PE teacher). Either betrayal (leading the police to something he’s done, or letting other violent criminals torture him) or simply wielding the knife herself, maybe while he’s asleep. She gave him such a look of contempt and … intent.

ilovebrie8 · 02/01/2023 09:37

Declan and Alicia from Emmerdale lol! Keeping it local . Where is HV filmed is it Hebden Bridge?

Foxyy · 02/01/2023 09:38

'My only complaint so far is TLR's plastic 'scar and wig' cap'

Yes the wig is awful and who stitched those lacerations! Perhaps they don't have facial glue or fine sutures in the local hospital.

TottersBlankly · 02/01/2023 09:40

Given how much pride TLR seemed to take in his reflection I’m going to guess he did the suturing himself.

You're probably right. All that messing about with his hair! It was so weird.

Ha yes you're probably right. Rambo style. But then he is so vain you'd think he'd want a nicer finish..

LadyEloise1 · 02/01/2023 09:53
