I hate the PE teacher.

I'm sad that Jo is being so manipulative towards Faisal. Although he's a weak man

@EmmaEmerald As well as the irony of the phrase "just your ordinary tale of country folk", I wondered if it was a nod to The Archers (the phrase was the strap line to that soap), which is where Sally Wainwright cut her writing teeth back in the 80s.

I completely assumed it was an Archers reference!

Jo is an interesting character isn't she? I'm probably going to mess up my wording here but her offering to go to bed with Faisal was a risk with an abusive husband. With abuse often comes jealousy, suspicion etc?

PrincessScarlett · 10/01/2023 12:53

I wonder if Rob will lay off Ryan now that he knows Catherine is his nan?

absolutelyincandescentwithrage · 10/01/2023 13:12

@TottersBlankly Me too - I've been an Archers fan for nearly 40 years after getting hooked while listening to radio 4 long wave when living abroad!

Oh, are you both on the Archers thread?Star (I can’t remember everyone’s names from one thread to another.)

Yes but I don't post often because I don't always listen daily, so I struggle to keep up

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/01/2023 14:36

Yes I think rob will Amy off Ryan now he knows about Catherine who knows about him /his wife

Bowz · 10/01/2023 14:46

I think it was a bit unprofessional of her to ask how his wife was in front of others. She was clearly asking in her capacity as a police officer.

What massive risks Jo is taking for the sake of diazepam. I could understand it if opiates but diazepam?!

Also, I don't know how it works but I'm surprised that an arrest and evidence of dv didn't warrant a ss referral. Catherine is usually so thorough in her assessment of situations but the fact that are 2 shell-shocked monosyllabic kids (I know they were in bed but she did know they had kids) didn't seem to register at all.

Hardly. She was at the school in her private, domestic role - because his complaint had dragged her there. She also knows him as the football coach - so it would be perfectly normal for a parent or guardian to ask after the coach’s spouse. There was absolutely nothing in her words that would indicate to anyone else (like Mr Bains) that she’d encountered Mrs Hepworth in a policing context. (At least, that’s what I’d argue in court …Wink)

He considers her "not worth sh*gging" so assumes every other man would, too - and more, that he has undermined her confidence to the extent that she believes it, too, and will be desperate to stay with him because no-pne else will want her.

Never has an hour of television gone by so quickly.

FWIW DH was a lorry driver and one of his vehicles had an Eaton twin splitter gear box thingy - he said that he had to remember to double declutch every time he changed gear and he hated it - he came home with a headache.

You're all very observant - I didn't notice that one of the little girls never took her coat off.

I see autocarrot enjoys torturing you as much as it does me.

WE SEE YOU AUTOCARROT! IT DOESN'T WORK - WE CAN STILL UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER.

<mutters as leaving> Technotw*t.

I think Faisal's younger daughter commented on it when she said the two girls were "weird". It suggests that she refuses to remove it at school as well.

TottersBlankly · 10/01/2023 15:08

Oooh … If the Hepworth daughters know the Bhatti daughters it makes it all the more possible for the former to get hold of poison …

Excellent.

absolutelyincandescentwithrage · 10/01/2023 15:10

@TottersBlankly I tend to lurk on there!

BlueThursday · 10/01/2023 15:29

I only caught up last night so had to avoid here until now!

my heart was racing when Catherine was on the phone to Clare.

so is TLR going to try make a run for it to Colombia or something

storminabuttercup · 10/01/2023 15:45

About neckbeard laying off Ryan, not sure how it officially works in schools but surely there'd be whispers of his background? Neckbeard was a bit daft choosing the son of a violent criminal, but then I suppose even though TLR is involved in stuff has he got deep links into the OCG? He was mainly a lone Wolf right.

We've started watching again from the start as DP was asking too many questions. The scene up on the moors shook me up all over again, as did scenes with Annie, he's one sick f*

JaneJeffer · 10/01/2023 15:46

Jo, a teacher's wife, is walking around town covered in bruises but nobody seems to bat an eyelid.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/01/2023 15:53

@Emotionalsupportviper yes auto spell drives me insane

Emotionalsupportviper · 10/01/2023 15:54

The only make on Jo's face was one that could easily be explained by an accidental but against a kitchen door - there's no black eye, split lip etc.

The other bruises he can explain because people know she drinks - she falls over and hurts herself; sometimes she gets violent and he has to restrain her; he's never told anybody because he's so worried - about the affect it would have on his girls - he's done all he can to keep the family together, but . . .

The barsteward would talk his way out of anything . . . or so he thinks. I'll bet that's the line he's spinning Mrs Oates.

Emotionalsupportviper · 10/01/2023 15:55

*mark, not make on Jo's face

IwantToRetire · 10/01/2023 16:05

Does anyone remember how TLR got involved with the OCG?

Was it when the stupid ameuter plot to kidnap Ann became the really horrible violent crime. That TLR was the one who had no hesitation in being an enforcer and then got taken up by the gang. I thought they didn't like him.

Am asking because of the suggestion that it is the OCG who are manipulating Neil as a favour to TLR. And if the favour because they want TLR to provide misleading evidence in the coming court case re body in the resevoir.

Even though I have only recently rewatched the previous 2 series I dont seem to be able to hold all the plot lines in my head.

Thanks

Wasn't it when the bloke they've just found in the reservoir got killed?
