Moira and thingy. Xmas Grin

@bellabelly yes, June could have saved Mrs Lawrence but she didn't. Mrs Lawrence was becoming a liability, her mental health was so bad that June was worried she was going to give the game away about getting the children out.

The other commander who was in the shadows at the wedding (don't know his name) when Nick punched Lawrence, was clearly responsible for the attack on June. He was the one that initially said that June needed to be stopped.

I really enjoyed that episode... I guessed Serena would be on the train. Nick's blown his relationship with Lawrence... hope he manages to leave Gilead. Now that Rose has left him he has no reason to stay. Not sure how Rose can leave him? Can't be a single mum in Gilead.

Nick pretty much signed his death warrant by punching Lawrence. Not sure why he did that so publicly?

The train station scene was awful. Reminded me of the holocaust.

I wasn't sure why there were close ups of June's white trainers... and there was a lot of yellow in the episode. Anyone know why?

The train station scene- wasn't that almost identical to what happened when Emily and her wife tried to escape with their child and were separated? I felt like they tried to emulate that.

Brilliant final episode for the season, just wish we could have seen what Lydia was going to do!

Aaargh, Luke and June should go separately through the station - he's much more likely to be caught if he's obviously with her and the baby.

bellabelly · 19/12/2022 22:56

Oh, that seems to be what they're doing in fact...

bellamountain · 19/12/2022 22:57

I can't believe Moira didn't go with June? After everything they've been through. I guess Moira would have put a dampener on the Serena relationship! I was thinking there weren't many children on the train and it's pretty tough going with a newborn and a 21 month old. In any event, I was pleased to see Serena (because I like the actress).

Very disappointed in Lawrence, what has happened to him?

LivIoe · 19/12/2022 23:00

I’m surprised in some ways that Canada is moving children on, when they have their own fertility issues. I’m surprised children would just be ignored on that train, nothing special. No papers? She could be kidnapping a Canadian child…

bellabelly · 19/12/2022 23:02

Feeling sorry for Rose now.

Pineconederby · 19/12/2022 23:05

Another great episode. I thought Nick might have been on the train, perhaps helped by Tuello? Didn’t spot Serena being there instead! Lots of scenes reminiscent of the first series too. I also thought one ‘safe’ place for Luke, June and Nicole after Luke is wanted for murder might - ironically - have been New Bethlehem, if they’d been able to do some kind of deal with Lawrence/the Commanders.

bellabelly · 19/12/2022 22:42

That made me laugh! The actor delivered that line perfectly.

Bradley Whitford is a god.

bellabelly · 19/12/2022 23:07

Great season finale. I love the final scene on the train with Serena and June. How long do we have to wait for the next series????

Pineconederby · 19/12/2022 23:08

Also - Lawrence?! What happened to him? Why is he letting Janine be abducted by the Eyes? Or is it Naomi behind it? Also good to see Aunt Lydia getting screwed over after she’s been so awful for so long. She genuinely cared for Janine and now she’s powerless to help her. Taste of her own medicine there!

Nick is in prison in Gilead.

I loved that part too. Daaaaarling!!

Lawrence keeps saying he didn’t order it though doesn’t he?

I think it's Commander Mackenzie - he was the one who said something needed done about June and he had a "look" on his face when Lawrence got punched.

singleandwingingit · 19/12/2022 23:15

Sorry to peddle back, but was thinking about last nights episode. When Serena was talking with Mr Wheeler and at the end she said something like "praise be" and he replied "oh yeaaah"

It indicated to me that whilst he's clearly got influence within Gilead he isn't a "traditionalist" and possibly doesn't take it all that seriously. Has anyone got any views on this?

XanaduKira · 19/12/2022 23:30

I thought the same @singleandwingingit

What I did notice was Tuello saying God Speed and another biblical phrase when leaving June - seemed so odd that it made me very suspicious of him.

Serena can't surely be allowed into Hawaii. She was instrumental in bringing down the USA so how could they trust she wouldn't do the same again? I wondered if Tuello had gotten her fake papers.

I thought it was Hannah's 'dad' who is the one targeting June. IMHO, Lawrence has no real choice but to go along with him.

Wonder what's going to happen to Janine and also disappointed we didn't see the young pregnant handmaid (who was the wife - can't remember her name).

dapsnotplimsolls · 19/12/2022 23:32

Esther.

CyanCyan · 19/12/2022 23:32

Blessed be the mai tais.

dapsnotplimsolls · 19/12/2022 23:33

I'm also curious about Moira and Rita - are they planning to stay in Canada?

Onthecuspofabreakthrough · 19/12/2022 23:41

So why did Janine do what she did? She could have had contact with her dd every day. It's like June advising Serena to go back to the house and act like a handmaid so she can help her son, but Janine has done the opposite

Sodonewiththisshit · 19/12/2022 23:42

Everyone living near June seemed to be packing up and leaving. So not sure why Moira and Rita wouldn't join them.
