Matt Lucas to leave GBBO. Hallelujah!

Sky news reporting tonight that Matt Lucas says he doesn't have time for GBBO anymore, which IMO means he's been asked to leave as he completely unfunny and utterly annoying.

I cannot bear his puerile "antics" on GBBO and am at a loss why he was ever appointed or indeed why he has a reputation for being amusing. He has been the worst part of the show for the last three years.

I wonder who they will get in. Really needs to be female to balance it up.

I feel like I've been watching a different show to everyone else. By no means am his fan but going by the comments here you'd think he'd been absolute vile to the bakers, when he hasn't.

I always thought he was rather kind to distraught contestants, perhaps I missed one incident or something?

God no to the Jo Brand suggestion. The most miserable woman ever.

Excellent news that hes going. I stopped watching it when he joined. I didnt think Id be a fan of Noel but actually I thought him and Sandie worked quite well together. Matt was a disastrous idea.

I really didn't think Matt was that bad - in fact I really liked the Noel and Matt combo at the beginning. Matt seemed tired and not his usual self this series though. They could do with upping the diversity of the presenters. Nadiya would be really good.

Sally Phillips or Rhod Gilbert, but I’m not sure if he is back working.

I don't dislike Matt Lucas or Noel Fielding and have found them entertaining in other things. (I thought Noel worked marginally better with Sandi) I thought Matt was great in the sketch as Boris Johnson, however I just don't think they work on bake off. They don't seem to like baking or food in general and don't seem to inject much humour.

I think that the Bake Off challenges have got so ridiculously complicated (and set up to fail) that even if you had Peter kay in there, the bakers haven't got time to be distracted by jokes or light relief....but was made even more apparent because the people supposedly being the light relief seemed awkward and unfunny.

I used to be a huge Matt Lucas fan, and he used to be very very funny. What's happened to him? I'm concerned for his mental health tbh!
