Boy George is a more terrible person than Matt Hancock and I'm sick of people pretending he isn't

Why does he get a pass for his brutal, clearly sexually motivated crime (he threatened the guy with whips and sex toys) and still have a career?

I'm so irritated I'm having to sound like I'm defending Hancock, a corrupt, inept Tory who cheated on his wife. He personifies everything wrong with Johnston's cabinet, but no he didn't kill thousands, Covid did. The decision to return vulnerable people from hospital to care homes was a terrible one, but we did the exact same thing in Scotland. He isn't a sex offender.

If Boy George had chained up a female sex worker and beat her with an iron bar and threatened to rape her with sex toys he wouldn't have ever had the opportunity to be on TV again.

Yes CM is an unsavoury character too. I believe Charlotte Church and Will Young have both been the subject of abuse from him.

Not forgetting Nicola Roberts and Neil Fox . And did he not receive an award for Bully of the Year ?

NCFT0922 · 12/11/2022 15:17

@YeahThanks he didn’t though did he. Are you always so dramatic?

ilyx · 12/11/2022 15:40

Matt Hancock’s press team have been hitting up journalists and correspondents to see if they can stir up a little more press interest in Boy George’s previous conviction to deflect some of the heat their boy is taking

If true that’s pretty cringe but you can hardly blame MH for that when he’s in the jungle and has no idea and no control over what his press team are doing.

And also if the others hadn't done stuff too their wouldn't be any headlines to drag up and put out there.

Whoever did this years line up is genius.

Chuck in MH the pandemic scapegoat whilst the Tory party is in complete meltdown - but not only Chuck him in knowing how people think he's been chucked in with lots of others (in fact all but 3 of them?) with criminal convictions and shady pasts including infidelity.

It's great psychology tv.

Mike Tindall also has two drink driving convictions but for some reason is protected by the press

Married to the daughter of St Anne of Windsor - living embodiment of QE2 - hallowed be thy name.

She's a top woman

guidedbythelightt · 12/11/2022 16:40

I realise we've gone past the OP's original point now, but in response to that - I've found in recent years a real tendency by people to try and play Top Trumps with everything to find the best and worst, when in reality there are loads of awful people, and plenty of great ones too. I actually fine Generation Zers less likely to appreciate the grey area between black and white than the generations that have come before them.

Karmakamelion · 12/11/2022 16:41

Didn't matt give the ppe contract to his sister in law? Also the cancelled prescription order previously came from him....

Karmakamelion · 12/11/2022 16:42

Sorry PPE order

SeemsSoUnfair · 12/11/2022 16:55

Not particularly enamoured with either of them. BG is old news, an irritant and irrelevant to most peoples daily lives.

Matt Hancock and his cronies, fill me with so much loathing. Their corrupt government and incompetent decisions (before, during and after covid) have impacted hundreds of thousands of people horrifically and they have shown absolutely no remorse or genuine understanding. They should all be facing criminal convictions. Plus he is a smarmy little weasel of a man. I don't give a shit he cheated on his wife, none of my business.

Really hate he is on IACGMOOH as I love it in the run down to Christmas and I am struggling to watch this year which is a shame as some of the other characters could have been interesting. Hope he is first out and we can just get on with the series. And stop voting for him to do trials please, lets see the other contestants!

paintitallover · 12/11/2022 17:13

He really isn't!

Fieldfly · 12/11/2022 17:16

My 12 year old just said ‘people hate MH because they are grieving and they need to have someone to blame and be angry with’.

I think she is wiser than the grown ups who imagine that MH on his own deliberately chose to do mean things just to harm people. They have forgotten the uncertainty and fear at the start, the pictures from Italy where they having to choose who to help, they fact that we thought hospitals would be overwhelmed, that we needed huge amounts of ppe (we just needed it fast, no time for tenders etc), that we didn’t know how it spread, we had no way of testing, that people were very worried that young people might die due to lack of oxygen in full hospitals. They don’t seem to realise that ministers make decisions based on advice and collectively with the cabinet. His competence and his affair are entirely separate matters.

Almostwelsh · 12/11/2022 17:31

MH is a serving MP and as such should be working, not messing about on reality TV. Its undignified and makes him look like a vacuous wannabe.

BG is an entertainer by trade. Being on TV literally is part of his job. He's not neglecting his day job to do so.

MichelleScarn · 12/11/2022 17:48

BG isn't a 'sex offender. His victim was a sex worker'
I really* *hope have interpreted this wrongly and you don't mean sex workers cannot be victims of sexual offences?

Almostwelsh · 12/11/2022 17:52

And I was working on site with colleagues in 2021 as well. We maintained strict social distancing, desks 2m apart, one way systems in place. If we had to work more closely we wore masks. No-one was snogging in meeting rooms. Her being g a colleague is no excuse.

HelensToenail · 12/11/2022 17:54

I;m sorry - t expressed myself poorly and confusingly - i have great sympathy for BGs victim and his employment made him more vulnerable

Lilaaz · 12/11/2022 17:56

'No-one was snogging in meeting rooms. Her being g a colleague is no excuse.'

No it isn't an excuse if just gives some perspective. They worked together so from a risk point of view they'd already been in proximity. His wife had every right to be outraged, everyone else just jumped on the media bandwagon. As an aside I bet there were plenty of people having affairs at work, doesn't make it ok but again please some perspective.

He knows there is no future for him in politics, so has a job for two years maximum. I suppose he's looking to the future - presumably he has two homes to run.

Almostwelsh · 12/11/2022 18:23

Ex politicians who've served in senior roles don't need to eat bugs on TV to secure future income. There's always plenty of cushy roles available for them.

Pumperthepumper · 12/11/2022 18:26

CallMeNutribullet · 12/11/2022 07:38

Would you say the same if he had imprisoned a female sex worker, beat her and threatened her with rape?

He has plenty of cash. He doesn't need to be on TV anymore. Unless you think we should be giving TV jobs to Gary Glitter and Bill Cosby?

Oh god, I’m so fucking sick of hearing this ‘what if he was a woman?!’ parallel universe bullshit. If he’d beat up a female sex worker, chances are you’d never have heard about it. But he didn’t, so it’s completely irrelevant.

What you’re really saying here is ‘woman have an easier time when violence is committed against them’ and the two women PER WEEK killed by men in the UK would disagree.

HelensToenail · 12/11/2022 18:26

....that we needed huge amounts of ppe (we just needed it fast, no time for tenders etc).................

The pandemic had been expected for years, in fact it was overdue - in anticipation of that there was pandemic preparedness plan which included a national stockpile of PPE

However, the government even knowing that there was a pandemic on the horizon. chose not to follow the plan and let the stockpile run down so when the huge amounts of PPE were needed urgently in spring 2020 much of it was past it;s expiry date and had to be thrown away

It adds insult to injury that MH and others then called on their mates to replenish the wasted PPE at vast expense -people like MHs landlord at his local pub got a panic-stricken tender-free multi-million pound contract!!

This failure at the very first hurdle has been the main topic of Module 1 of the Covid Inquiry which took place this summer

Rayn22 · 12/11/2022 18:27

One was a deliberate action.
One was not deliberate just stupid.

Roselilly36 · 12/11/2022 18:28

You must have a very short memory OP, BG is a saint compared to the sins of MH.

Yes just look at Kobe the rapist still worshipped as a hero when he died.

JustDanceAddict · 13/11/2022 13:20

Have you watched any of the dramas covering that part of the pandemic?
This England or Help? I can’t think of MH without remembering what a shitshow the govt made re the lockdowns and then him snogging his secretary when we were supposed to be distanced even from colleagues in work.

im not saying BG is a saint, but he’s served time, he has been punished and he’s reformed. He was also high so obviously not in control of his faculties.
