Boy George is a more terrible person than Matt Hancock and I'm sick of people pretending he isn't

Why does he get a pass for his brutal, clearly sexually motivated crime (he threatened the guy with whips and sex toys) and still have a career?

I'm so irritated I'm having to sound like I'm defending Hancock, a corrupt, inept Tory who cheated on his wife. He personifies everything wrong with Johnston's cabinet, but no he didn't kill thousands, Covid did. The decision to return vulnerable people from hospital to care homes was a terrible one, but we did the exact same thing in Scotland. He isn't a sex offender.

If Boy George had chained up a female sex worker and beat her with an iron bar and threatened to rape her with sex toys he wouldn't have ever had the opportunity to be on TV again.

There are many awful people in the world, BG and MH are just 2 of them . I don't think either should be in the jungle.

@Afterfire What about handing contracts to financially benefit his friends…?

Are you saying that MH ISNT responsible for the care home fiasco? If not him then, who…? He was Health Secretary…

Integrity is about doing the right thing ESPECIALLY SO when times are hard…. The above behaviours don’t say integrity to me.

Scotland enacted the care home rule too and the NHS is devolved. I'm not sure about Wales. They were receiving advice which was clearly shitty advice.

You are correct! A voice of reason

Oh, I’m sure the ‘voice of reason’ will make the victim of his sex attack feel so much better then.
FFS, trying to excuse such a heinous crime by saying the victim was a sex worker is disgusting.

ThatGirlInACountrySong · 12/11/2022 08:29

Boy George wasn't convicted for sex offences though? Is mumsnet making things up?

So Mike and Ant also have a criminal record?

What is Mike’s?

cantab94 · 12/11/2022 08:30

I wish people would stop saying this - there have been many pandemics before the last ones in 1968 and 1957. What is unprecedented is the government taking away the freedom of healthy people which mancock seemed to really enjoy.

Madamecastafiore · 12/11/2022 08:30

Shit decisions?? Made by a panel of eminent scientists who are qualified to make those decisions.

MayThe4th · 12/11/2022 08:32

What’s worst is that anyone watches this drivel.

None of them would be getting airtime if people didn’t watch it and make celebrities out of them.

Let’s face it MH is there because the producers know that people will watch to see and judge him. And they are. In their droves.

Personally the whole thing is shite and we would do better just to not have such shows which make celebrities out of has-beens who are desperate to get back into the limelight.

PolkaDotMankini · 12/11/2022 08:32

YANBU. Hancock's an absolute twat who should be at work, not pissing around in the jungle, but AFAIK he's not a violent sex offender.

pilates · 12/11/2022 08:32

Agree op.

BG is a very unpleasant person. It feels like he is putting on an act and suppressing the real person. I wonder how long he can carry on before the true colours are revealed?

And how would Ant feel being publicly humiliated on tv? He could have killed someone with his drink driving and let’s face it, it wasn’t a one off.

BG and Ant are hypocrites.

You mean decisions which include giving billions to their mates?

Was that evidence based too?

That in answer to people saying covid was unprecedented with sympathy for Hancock.

User135644 · 12/11/2022 08:33

Hancock is a wanker but he's used as a conduit for a lot of people's grief or anger.

Babybomb · 12/11/2022 08:34

The reason people are pissed off with the not being able to visit sick relatives in hospital - is that while they abided by the rules to protect their loved ones and other people - some politicians did whatever the fuck they liked - having affairs, after work drinkees, traipsing around the country visiting friends and family. It's the hypocrisy that people are angry about.

cantab94 · 12/11/2022 08:38

www.spiked-online.com/2022/11/10/how-selling-mince-pies-landed-a-pensioner-in-prison/ this pensioner is in prison for breaking their rules while people that made the rules like Hancock and Cummings got away scot-free.

HeadNorth · 12/11/2022 08:39

I'll always have soft spot for Boy George as an 80s teen. He really was ground breaking then, and the Sun led an absolute hate campaign against him for being gay and having drug problems.

His later crimes were terrible, but he was punished for them. You either believe rehabilitation is possible for criminals or you don't. I do.

Anyway, Boy George has talent. The Church of the Poisoned Mind is a great song and I love his version of 'I would Give everything I own' - he has the kind of sad yearning in his voice that the great country queens have - Tammy, Loretta. He is flawed but not without redemptive qualities.

I really can find nothing positive to say about Matt Hancock.

HelensToenail · 12/11/2022 08:40

MH whining and begging forgiveness on national TV is utterly repellent to me and i personally feel his 'crimes' are unforgiveable

his responsibility for the Care Home deaths well covered by Paul Bland ITV and hopefully by the Covid Enquiry - not that there'll be any corporate manslaughter charges unfortunately

the lack of PPE for the NHS and care homes and dodgy inflated multi million pound deals for his friends and Tory donors - corruption on a huge scale that he'll never be called to account for

more of his theiving from the public purse being AWOL from MP role

his continuing humiliating his wife and teenage/tween children with his public covid rule breaking affair and now his appearance on this and other reality TV shows

Urghh urghh urghh!

What is Mike’s?

16 month driving ban in 2000, 3 year ban in 2012. Driving over the limit.

hay5689 · 12/11/2022 08:45

Completely agree OP. I've seen people commenting on my Facebook and apparently forgetting that they broke lockdown rules as well.

I'm sick and tired of hearing how the government forced covid patients back into care homes as well. I know a lot of people who worked in healthcare settings during lockdown and carried on as normal mixing with people then going to work. I know it's not what people want to hear because the public perceived them as hero's but the truth is there was more than one factor that meant covid spread throughout care homes and whilst there might have been staff who went above and beyond that wasn't the case for everyone.

Yeah shit decisions made by politicians using the evidence provided by the eminent scientists

The scientists didn't make any shitty decisions

Plenty of vile people are talented… Gary Glitter, Michael Jackson, Jimmy Saville, I could go on. Whilst I’m not saying George is on a level with any of those it doesn’t make what he did okay or forgettable because he can sing a good tune.

Whatisthefuss · 12/11/2022 08:53

BG is so passive agreesive to MH. BG clearly thought he would be the most known person in there and now isn’t and clearly cannot stand it. I actually read up on what MH did , it’s one of the top googled searches and if people actually read the good things he did as well it would maybe shut a lot of people up. People are sheep and follow the crowd of what others think and feel but the first night of I’m a celeb watching him with SW was hilarious. I don’t mind him and hope he does well cause he’s actually pretty normal and chilled compared to most the camp mates

Rainbowcat99 · 12/11/2022 08:57

So Boy George tortured one person, but Matt Hancock tortured thousands - it’s not an either or situation really.

But he didn't did he? He was the man at the top who cheated on his wife and broke the lockdown rules so yes horrible for that. But honestly, blaming him personally for every Covid mistake and ever Covid death is ridiculous.
These decisions are taken by teams of people, he didn't act in isolation. Plus every country had quick and difficult decisions to make, everybody got it wrong at times because it was an awful period of time.
Claiming MH tortured thousands as if he single handed LG created Covid for his amusement is just silly and dramatic.

Rockbird · 12/11/2022 08:57

Afterfire · 12/11/2022 08:17

George is still an extremely arrogant, nasty man. Did anyone hear when he was talking about not being able to see his mum and he said he “used his name”? As if once they knew who he was they should have let him in?! What a complete arse.

Wouldn't you? Can you honestly say that if using your name gave you a better chance of helping or seeing or whatever your mother, you wouldn't do it too? Because I bloody would.
