Boy George is a more terrible person than Matt Hancock and I'm sick of people pretending he isn't

Why does he get a pass for his brutal, clearly sexually motivated crime (he threatened the guy with whips and sex toys) and still have a career?

I'm so irritated I'm having to sound like I'm defending Hancock, a corrupt, inept Tory who cheated on his wife. He personifies everything wrong with Johnston's cabinet, but no he didn't kill thousands, Covid did. The decision to return vulnerable people from hospital to care homes was a terrible one, but we did the exact same thing in Scotland. He isn't a sex offender.

If Boy George had chained up a female sex worker and beat her with an iron bar and threatened to rape her with sex toys he wouldn't have ever had the opportunity to be on TV again.

Its neither a competition or a race to the bottom.

No Matt Hancock fawning appreciation from me. He is not fit to be an MP.

HappyHamsters · 19/11/2022 15:23

What change? He was calling him names, called him slimy and then was obviously forced to fess up when it became obvious they were talking about him behind his back. I am glad he, Sean and Matt are doing the camp tasks together, they will find a way to get on and co operate which will backfire on Mike thinking it will cause tension.

But he was grown up in that conversation, would have been better if he'd been like that all along. As I said I think the penny suddenly dropped and he realised how he must look so decided to act like the adult he's supposed to be.

I wonder how Charlene is feeling today as it dawns on her that she is less popular than Matt Hancock ??

I don't think she'll care. She's one of these 'the sun shines out my backside types'.

Probably quite relieved to be out of there, back with her family with an easy 75k in her pocket.

Miss03852 · 19/11/2022 17:14

Nah she’s probably mortified at being first out

derxa · 19/11/2022 17:19

Kaye Adams and Charlene can console each other on Loose Women about being first out of St. They'll jabber on about journalistic integrity and the witless audience will cheer wildly.

derxa · 19/11/2022 17:20

*out of Strictly and IAC

I really don't get these threads...

ITV is a privately funded channel and they can feature whoever they want on their shows. if you don't like the participants, don't watch.

As for BG, he did his time in jail and got himself clean of drugs and alcohol and it seems has had no issues with the laws for decades. Are we saying no one who manage to rehabilitate themselves should never work again?

MH was not the only one who is responsible for the mistakes that were made in trying to manage with Covid. The entire government and their scientific and medical advisers have to take the blame too. There should be an independent enquiry into it. Until then I don't see the point of scapegoating Hancock only when all of them were not following the rules behind close doors and most governments across the world did not get everything right when it comes to Covid. I am not a fan of MH and of the Tories but I doubt very much that he purposely decided to kill thousands of people. Ultimately Covid and our lack of initial knowledge of the virus and how to mitigate its effects did that.

HappyHamsters · 19/11/2022 19:04

There is an enquiry into the handling of covid

Focusonthegood · 19/11/2022 19:34

You are being manipulated by Matt. It’s very different being a well known personality/celeb and acting immorally compared to an elected MP setting national policy. He had an affair during advice to stay apart from different households! It’s a no from me.

BG was jailed in 2009 so it was over a decade ago but not decades ago ,if he had falsely imprisoned a women and chained her to a radiator would mumsnet be quite so forgiving i wonder 🤔
Yes the Government made mistakes during the pandemic and hindsight is a wonderful thing ,but he didnt kill thousands of people covid did that it was an out of control virus ,whichhever party had been in government would have had to make some unpopular decisions and would have made mistakes it was a no win situation

Some people seem to think BG’s imprisonment was his only misdemeanour but it wasn’t.
In 2005, BG was arrested in Manhattan on suspicion of cocaine possession and falsely reporting a burglary.BG denied the drugs were his. The cocaine possession charge was dropped but he pleaded guilty to falsely reporting a burglary He was sentenced to five days of community service, fined $1,000 and ordered to attend a drug rehabilitation programme.

Pumperthepumper · 19/11/2022 19:59

Try again;

If BG had assaulted a female prostitute, chances are you’d never hear about it. Using female victims of violence to make some weird point about women getting an easier time is in very poor taste.

Rhondaa · 19/11/2022 20:02

'If BG had assaulted a female prostitute, chances are you’d never hear about it'

I disagree. We heard about Hugh Grant getting a BJ from a sex worker I am pretty sure we'd hear if a celeb was arrested for assaulting one.

Hugh Grant was caught. How many prostitutes go to the police about assaults? Particularly if they’ve been assaulted by someone in the public eye?

He wasn't the only person to have an affair probably half the government were at it his only problem he was the one that got caught

I'm guessing if anyone male or female was held captive for a couple of days, chained to a wall and assaulted they would report it. I'm not quite sure what your point is tbh.

The thing is for someone with such a dodgy distasteful past he really shouldn't be looking down snooty his nose on anyone.

My point is: when two women per week are killed by men in the UK, saying ‘bet you’d care more if it was a woman!’ is pretty a pretty twisted thing to say. It’s parallel-universe nonsense.
