Boy George is a more terrible person than Matt Hancock and I'm sick of people pretending he isn't

Why does he get a pass for his brutal, clearly sexually motivated crime (he threatened the guy with whips and sex toys) and still have a career?

I'm so irritated I'm having to sound like I'm defending Hancock, a corrupt, inept Tory who cheated on his wife. He personifies everything wrong with Johnston's cabinet, but no he didn't kill thousands, Covid did. The decision to return vulnerable people from hospital to care homes was a terrible one, but we did the exact same thing in Scotland. He isn't a sex offender.

If Boy George had chained up a female sex worker and beat her with an iron bar and threatened to rape her with sex toys he wouldn't have ever had the opportunity to be on TV again.

I am confused about whether people hate Matt Hancock because he had an affair, because of the way he handled the pandemic or because he's a Tory.

The comments about killing thousands are ridiculous - Covid killed thousands.

I think it’s because he is a Tory . Like another poster , I am not sure what else could have been done about care homes and I don’t remember any of the opposition parties having a better suggestion .

Quite honestly I think the other parties were thanking their lucky stars they were not at the helm.

Because he's a man without conviction

Love it!

BG seemed to say it was all lies generated by the media and scoffed at the idea he handcuffed the poor guy to a radiator, as if it being a radiator would make the crime 10x worse, duh! Obviously he was wrong-footed and annoyed that anyone mentioned it.

To me he comes across as a sarky, holier-than-thou control freak, but I still love watching him. Think he is a fascinating character (and I'll always love that voice).

Matt is interesting too. Seems kinda nice but hopelessly geeky, and very determined and focused. I have never voted Tory but I don't blame him for everything that went wrong with the pandemic. Just think he looked pretty foolish when he got caught out snogging at work and is another in a long line of Tories who broke their own rules. But, no he shouldn't have abandoned his constituents like that. I'm sure he's after a media career but for me he isn't either relatable enough or interesting enough to get one. We shall see.

I honestly want someone to tell me what else the government should have done re care homes. They were expecting a flood of covid patients into hospital - hospitals had a lot of elderly care home patients in who could be discharged. Most care home patients are already ill long term which is why they are in care homes.

You have 100 beds available and 100 chronically ill long term patients who could be moved on as well as 100+ covid patients who stand a good chance of making a full recovery if treated.

The sensible and logical thing to do was move the care home patients back to care homes to free the beds for the acute covid patients. There was no were else to send them back to other than their care homes.

It would have been as equal a tragedy if not worse if covid patients had been dying because beds were blocked by care home patients.

Hard decisions had to be made in a hurry. Scotland and Wales did exactly the same thing so it was not only Hancock - in fact many other countries also did similar.

Sorry it's this post I agree with, well said

You don't need a DBS to attend events in schools. Only if you work unaccompanied with children.

The poster said he mentors young people.

I'm friends with George and I've known the family for over 30 years. I was with his sister the night he got arrested and she had to go to the police station after a call from their brother. What you've read in the media is not the whole story. I was at the court case. George served his time, became Buddhist and for the past 14years has lived a clean, sober, spiritual life. He is a mentor for others that are drug dependent and trying to get clean. He is a lovely man, he's kind and very funny and his family are fabulous (his mum is a second nan to my children and my daughter is best friends with his neice as they were brought up together - now 23).
He served his time in 2009 and learnt a lot from the experience. Give him a break, he is not a monster, far from it.

I find this fascinating, because whilst I believe that you have experienced that side of him, he is coming across as absolutely poisonous on screen . Narcissistic and fake.

Chris is desperately insecure and covers it up by being a nasty dick………as is Seann who covers it up by admitting it, but with self deprecating ‘humour’.
Sue is just a mean girl and Charlene is a bossy, self important busy body.
Matt is an emotional coward who covers it up by acting all gung ho.
Mike is a bit strange. He seems extremely detached.
Babatunde is amusing but seems like he’s just always doing his act. Not sure we’re seeing the real him.
Scarlette is just lovely. Fun, kind and intelligent.
Owen is a sweetie and very honest. Jill is nice and normal with a little edge to her humour, which I like.

I’ve asked exactly the same question several times, but no answer. I conclude that the blind hatred is due to him being a Tory which is worse than being a violent criminal or repeat drink driver on MN, and in the jungle apparently. It’s all about perception and being seen to have the ‘right’ allegiances these days. Never mind about facts, virtue signalling all the way.

I suppose BG has completed a prison sentence for what he did, however, so everyone is entitled to be given a second chance, as long as they are remorseful. Nonetheless, he doesn’t seem to be a very nice person.

Four months of an 18 month sentence and four months on tag he asked to work on some show while he was on tag the judge wouldn't allow it I believe

Didn't he do well last night? I've met Charlene through work and they were brought up in the same area SE3/SE18 so have maybe discussed this.
I Spoke to one of his brothers yesterday and we are very proud of him. Sadly his mum Di is not too well (dementia) and not too sure what is going on. Thankfully his family can keep her away from the vile comments.

Who did well? BG calling MH slimy then trying to get a rise out of him? Its all fake rubbish, they dont care about each other, they wont keep in touch, we only get to see an hour or so of highly edited footage. He wasnt so nice about Charlene at the beginning when she was doing the cooking.

Thats what happens when you go on a reality TV that’s literally about who the contestants are ( clues in the name).

Remind us how much he’s getting to put his family through those “vile” comments? S

HappyHamsters · 19/11/2022 11:45

Half a million and perhaps that was the easiest £75k charlene has ever earned

BG did well? Really? We are obviously not watching the same programme. The only vile comments have come out of his mouth.

ancientgran · 19/11/2022 12:22

Is Charlene deluded? How can she say she was impartial? I don't think anyone has any doubts about how she feels about MH, the lockdown and all the rest of it. No way was she impartial.

pilates · 19/11/2022 12:28

It’s sad at their age the other contestants don’t feel strong enough to stand up to the schoolyard bullies

HeadNorth · 19/11/2022 12:53

It is interesting how perceptions differ, as I am not seeing any schoolyard bullies. I did see BG & MH have an adult conversation about the difficult situation they found themselves in and their very different political views. BG was astute in pointing out the difference between MH the person & MH the politician and I thought it cleared the air. From how they have coped with the trials they are both tough cookies and quite capable of holding their own, neither was bullying, just a frank exchange of views.

Rhondaa · 19/11/2022 13:00

'Who did well? BG calling MH slimy then trying to get a rise out of him?'

I know! MH has worked with people like Cummings, really clever devious arseholes not washed up 80s pop stars. Think he's made of tougher stuff than fragile BG. Bet MH is more amused that BG seems to think he would care that he didn't like him. It's not a newsflash is it.

pilates · 19/11/2022 13:09

I think It runs deeper than that HeadNorth, BG has an irrational hatred of anyone in the Conservative party which shows how narrow minded he is. Can you not see they are all frightened of BG? That’s what I am seeing.

Focusonthegood · 19/11/2022 13:11

Completely the disagree. Matt is in there to play a game and win you all over to propel his career. He is selfish and vile ! Shocking that you all have fallen for it!

And BG is lovely ?? What about CM and his vile ( to use an overused MN word ) comments about Nicola Roberts and others ? Sue and Mike and drink driving ?
And Charlene needs to learn the meaning of impartial !

That was a big change with BG last night, I thought he has suddenly realised he could get voted off and decided to rein it in a bit. Yes perceptions do vary.
