THE WHITE LOTUS - s2 MONDAY 9pm sky Atlantic. TV PACE. NO SPOILERS

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/10/2022 10:06

So lotus is back

s1 was good. About holiday makers in a posh hotel and one died but various other things

quite funny

worth watching s1

there is a thread. Not by me s one

s2 is new cast and a new secret apart from jennifer Coolidge who returns as Tanya along with her lover now hubby

This season, Coolidge's hysterical and hyper-sensitive Tanya McQuoid will be joined by Jon Gries, who reprises his season one role of Tanya's lover turned new husband Greg, and Haley Lu Richardson (The Edge of Seventeen) who plays Portia, her assistant. Oscar-winner F. Murray Abraham (Amadeus), Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos), and Adam DiMarco (The Order) portray Bert, Dominic, and Albie, respectively, three generations of men from the Di Grasso family with three very different approaches to the opposite sex on a trip to Sicily to visit their ancestral home.

Also checking in are two polar opposite couples on vacation together: the prickly, newly-rich, and socially aware Harper and Ethan, played by Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation) and Will Sharpe (Landscapers), and the carefree, news-averse, lovey-dovey couple Cameron and Daphne, played by Theo James (The Time Traveler's Wife) and Meghann Fahy (The Bold Type). The separate groups are intertwined when two local girls Mia (Beatrice Granno) and Lucia (Simona Tabasco) find their way into the White Lotus, much to the chagrin of Valentina (Sabrina Impaciatorre), the often flustered manager of the hotel.

Fab Vogue online article with the wardrobe director for the show:

I really enjoyed that Vogue article! Don’t really know much about clothes and fashion, but love how much thought goes into reflecting the characters in their looks. Fascinating!

Umanresources · 03/12/2022 22:17

I’m really enjoying this series but didn’t think that Greg was the cowboy, although I did pick up on the photo of the children looking like the trainer.
The bit with the Vespa and Jennifer Coolidge travelling round the courtyard had me really laughing and the fly swallowing was so funny. I'm wondering who the bodies are though.
I’ve enjoyed reading these recaps and reviews and didn’t pick up on some of the nuances that they have. It makes for interesting reading.

I’ve watched today’s episode as I’m out later. Interested to hear everyone’s thoughts…

TottersBlankly · 05/12/2022 09:18

Aaaaargh! So much too much to get done today. Wouldn’t be able to relax with it until deadlines met, chores done.

Thumbs up or down, @Netaporter ???

Netaporter · 05/12/2022 09:24

Well this is a no spoilers thread…so I won’t say anything other than this episode felt as if it was ep 6part 1 rather than a single episode if that makes sense?

I’m loving this season probably because the anticipation of a weekly episode. I love Mondays as there is a new Yellowstone and Tulsa King out too 😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/12/2022 10:02

Just about to watch now

if you have seen 6 then fine to talk about it as been on tv

*Greg is having an affair or it’s made to be thought that way

msybe he’s talking to his kid not other partner*
I thought that, but does she know he has a kid? I'm only up to that point.

Netaporter · 05/12/2022 10:24

Ok @Blondeshavemorefun here are my thoughts:

LOTS of tension in the show today. It is clear Ethan us being gaslighted by Cameron. I think there is something else going on though with Ethan that we don’t know.

Who was in the picture with Quentin at Palermo? Do we think it is a young Greg?

Tanya is obviously a mark for Quentin. I think it’s possible Portia is a victim as she has sussed out what is going on.

I think Lucia has hired the fellow to follow Albie and his family to extort money from them. She’s not in danger.

poor Valentina, she looked heartbroken.

i think that the long lost family in Tess Del Aqua may come back into it at some point.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/12/2022 12:39

Here’s mine :)

wasn’t Greg ill/dying in s1. Want to say can we so wondering if that’s come back

yes I felt for Valentina. Hope she isn’t charged

so quention is poor according to bad English accent boy 😂

but hoping to come into money

wondering if naked Italian and Q have been filming Tanya

to 1) blackmail against Greg

or 2) Greg is in on it :( which I hope he isn’t

bur how else would Q know she was filthy rich

yes that was a pic of him in photo

how much does it cost to rent that huge place or was it his but has to sell

Parties and drugs cost money - where is he getting it from

wonder why the trio relatives didn’t want to know them

Cameron is def gas lighting I don’t think Ethan wife did have sex

in e1 ds phone said they are having a fab time. To die for - or something like that

she also says we go home tho assume it’s not Cameron dead or was that a red herring

and she has killed all 3 - hubby Ethan and his wife

also Valentina said to police man in e1 how many bodies and he said a few ?

so who else in dead in hotel

maybe one of the girls Mia or other one

she is also said the sea isn’t part of the hotel so they can’t be blamed for body

guessing a few is 2/3 so to have 2/3 dead in hotel and then another dies can’t be good for business

def enjoying and as you all know blondes doesn’t binge

and I love watching weekly and tossing ideas and theories about

I just watched today's. Here are my thoughts:

  • Tanya is definitely being set up with mafia gigolo guy. First Quentin got her trust, now he's going for the prize. Get her wrecked and then get her in a horribly compromising position. Job done.
  • Mr Essex Rent Boy has spilled the beans hasn't he. The palazzo does apparently belong to Quentin, but he's spent all his money and was going to have to sell, until suddenly he'd going to come into some money. Enter stage left Tanya with all her dosh.
  • Essex Boy definitely instructed to get Portia out of the way and make sure she missed the party so Quentin could set Tanya up without any interference. But will Portia now leave sleeping Romeo at the hotel and return in time to save Tanya?
  • Yes, that looked like a young Greg in the photo, so whoever guessed that Greg was the cowboy gets full marks!
  • OMG Ethan is gonna blow his top! That is a man a roiling ball of fury and jealousy and the target of his anger is Cameron.
  • Harper is, I think, playing Daphne's game and just trying to make him jealous to get her own back after the hooker debacle.
  • The dynamic between Cameron and Daphne is clearly that they make each other jealous and it makes them hot for each other. They seem pretty happy right now and I'm no longer sure Daphne wants him dead.
  • I think maybe Grandpa di Grasso is going to be one of the corpses.
maranella · 05/12/2022 13:26

Oh and where is Greg? I thought he was only going to be gone two days and it must be at least 3 days now ...

Netaporter · 05/12/2022 13:33

I think that we knew that the Villa is Q's family house from the first time he and Tanya met?

I still think that Greg is gay and in cahoots with Q to relieve Tanya of her money. Or maybe Q is trying to get 'revenge' on Greg's perceived fortune by thinking Greg will inherit the lot if Tanya dies but as there is a prenup this might not be the case? I thought they were trying to kill her with that much Cocaine in her system?

Poor Portia and Albie. Both could've had more straightforward relationships with each other!

Netaporter · 05/12/2022 13:34

@maranella it was me who first floated the idea that Greg was the cowboy 😇

maranella · 05/12/2022 13:43

I think that we knew that the Villa is Q's family house from the first time he and Tanya met?

Well he SAID that, but he said a lot of things. Like Jack is his nephew, so he's not beyond telling a few white lies to spin the tale he wants to spin. You can, as Daphne demonstrated, rent a palazzo without too many problems.

And well done @Netaporter for guessing about Greg ⭐

Netaporter · 05/12/2022 14:06

Good point @maranella I love a good speculation thread 😂

Roarsomemore · 05/12/2022 14:40

I was left very worried about Tanya at the end of that episode. I felt like they were being filmed too.

Tanya basically said to Portia what the Internet has been saying, "Get your shit together!"

I'm still not sure if Lucia is setting them up. Is the grandson capable of murder if things go wrong? I loved that the female relatives wanted nothing to do with the three unknown men that came visiting. Very wise!

Will be sad when this finishes

ganachee · 05/12/2022 16:06

Why do you think Tanya didn’t tell Portia she saw the Essex lad having sex with Quentin? Is it because it shows even when she knows things are not right, she is still passive? If it was me I would be telling Portia what I saw and we need to get out of there as something is obviously not right.

I too think the young man following Lucia is in cahoots with Lucia. Lucia said to Mia last week that she could make use of Albie as he is clearly naive.

I much prefer this series to the first series. I prefer this season’s characters and the tension is stronger.

Thatsasmashingblouseyouvegoton · 05/12/2022 16:26

I imagine the pre nup is invalid if tanya cheats?
Or is it darker?
Will they bump her pff?
Ethan is cracking up

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/12/2022 16:56

Think it has been two days

she met q day after Greg went. That same day he takes her to madam b then fucks nephew in evening

next day breakie he says tonight we have a party

so my reckoning is day after party and sex drug possibly porn scandal and Greg will return

why else would Italian be naked

I really hope Greg is innocent tho he isn’t nice to her and weight

yes Portia def told to be away and maybe also why Greg didn’t want her there on holiday so no witness

def like to throw out theories

good call @Netaporter

OP posts:
Thatsasmashingblouseyouvegoton · 05/12/2022 16:59

I'm worried about portia:(

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/12/2022 17:15

She will be ok

She’s semi sober. Bad accent guy has passed out

so she needs to get back to party via taxi

OP posts:
Twiglets1 · 05/12/2022 18:02

I can see Portia rushing back to save Tanya - the scales have truly fallen from her eyes re Essex boy.
The predators are circling in this episode. Quentin is progressing his plan re Tanya, while also flirting with his next rich old lady. Lucia is moving in on Albie, setting him up to pay a large amount of money to “rescue” her. Her friend seems to be moving in on Valentina - maybe to blackmail her for having sex in an unpaid for hotel bedroom?
The Ethan/Cameron dynamic is cloudy. Cameron has a history of predatory behaviour but Ethan looks like he is about to flip so who knows which one will end up getting hurt?

maranella · 05/12/2022 18:21

I just had a thought ...

If Greg is the cowboy, then is Quentin the person on the other end of the call when Greg says 'She has no idea' and 'I love you'???
