Any chance that storm in Yorkshire could cross the Pennines and get rid of some of the dead wood in Weatherfield?

ginnels are covered. That’s what makes them a gunnel as opposed to an alley.

The ginnel or what they refer to as the ginnel isn't covered on Coronation Street though. I've never heard of a covered ginnel.

I’ve never heard of an uncovered ginnel. And I originally come from Lancs, lived in Manchester (Prestwitch and Wythenshaw) for about 8 years. Have never heard of a back street described as such. Funny, isn’t it, how different areas use different words, like barm, teacake and cob, for instance.

Listening to Christmas songs last night and realised Jona Lewie's "Stop the Cavalry" sounds like Spider could be singing it! Can't unhear/unsee that now!!

Things ramping up for Christmas now! Let's get these racists sorted!

eggandonion · 22/12/2022 15:21

The ginnel at our house thus named by my mancunian builder is a bit wider than a wheely bin. It is really the side passage where i live.
Anyway, nothing good happens in that corrie ginnel.

Why didn't Spider tell David that Max is in hospital? He'd go charging over there and when he announced himself as Max's father the staff would be alerted to the fact that there's a lot more dodgy going on than the lame gas canisters explanation for Max's injuries. In addition, Max would be genuinely grateful to David for extricating him from the awful situation he finds himself in.

Yes I thought that

I'm guessing that it would blow Spiders cover, he's supposed to be a baddie, on Griffs side.
Mind you if Toyah and her big gob let loose!

Snoredoeurve · 22/12/2022 07:06

He was great.
I really like him as Max.
Love his back chat to David but then David is a twonk .
Griff is getting more and more sinister, come on Max!
He's got all those videos which he can use to expose him.
Omg Spider , you bellend!
Umm first rule of being under cover?...

I meant the bit when he was laid on the ground doing nothing. I actually thought he might be dead. It was the only time I've actually believed any of his acting.

eggandonion · 22/12/2022 18:53

Poor Max, all scorched. I assume he has masses of stuff on the fancy laptop to be of interest to Spiders police handler.

Blueskiepoles · 22/12/2022 19:18

Why does Max smile so much? It’s unnatural and over the top. Not even when he woke up in hospital with burns after being blown out of a car could he look serious.

Igglepiggleslittletoe · 22/12/2022 21:12

He has lovely teeth to be fair.

Oh 😂
I really like him as an actor-hes playing a character with ADHD and is spot on .
I really want him to nail Griff!

Right, I could be overthinking this/borderline paranoid Grin but when Daisy was in the hospital waiting room for her results, and got chatting to the Scottish lad whose mum had cancer, did anyone think she could end up with a stalker on her hands? She'd be easy to track down because the nurse said her full name in front of him. And he looked taken aback - in a good way - when she showed him tenderness. Some guys latch on to that kind of thing.
Just me?!

Yes I agree. I thought that’s not the last we’ve seen of him.

eggandonion · 23/12/2022 07:42

Maybe Daniel could counsel him, that would end badly.

JellyBeanFactory · 23/12/2022 18:46

Christmas Corrie schedule for those of you hanging in there watching it!

Funny how Toyah can keep the secret that she killed her husband, but can’t possibly lie about Spuder/Max!

Yes! I said this to my dd, he looks like a potential stalker.

JemimaTab · 24/12/2022 09:13

This business with the bomb is confusing me. Surely they wouldn’t have been able to fob off the police quite so easily when the car was burnt out? (Or did I miss something - quite possible as I find my attention wanders a bit when watching Corrie these days).
Oh and the sofa “mix up”. Who didn’t see that coming a mile off? 🙄

Deadringer · 24/12/2022 11:54

I assumed that the sofa wouldn't arrive and they would be sitting on the floor for Christmas, but that tiny sofa? I mean, how much did he pay for it?

FeltCarrot · 24/12/2022 12:26

Didn’t he say the sofa cost a lot but Eileen was worth it? Can’t believe that dolls house sofa cost more than £20. Such an unbelievable storyline.

FeltCarrot · 24/12/2022 12:27

Is this it?

Deadringer · 24/12/2022 13:20

I could believe it if he was scammed, but buying that by mistake? Ridiculous

Honeyroar · 25/12/2022 20:33

It gets sillier with the coffin sofa! Why not just tell her the order went wrong and tell her she can pick one herself in the sales!

Other than that I quite enjoyed the Xmas episode. Kinda cute, even with Cris Cringle!

NCTDN · 26/12/2022 15:54

Carla is on a good thing, if Beth can transform that rag into a wedding dress like that!!
