Any chance that storm in Yorkshire could cross the Pennines and get rid of some of the dead wood in Weatherfield?

Dh said Max realises that the scumbags are bad eggs, and has two versions of his video thing. Is that true?
I ignore the crime stuff. Dh watches it because he is a fan of Gary 😐im sure Spider, Roy, Toyah, Nina, Alya, and the others will defeat the evil gang. And Alina plus baby will arrive on Christmas eve to cheer up the whole street.

Igglepiggleslittletoe · 17/11/2022 07:22

If Kelly 2 went near my ds like she was wooling out of Max and dragging him upstairs yesterday she would find herself with a bald patch. Seriously she met him about 7 minutes ago.

Does she remind anyone else of Sheridan Smith in 2 pints of lager and a packet of crisps? WIthout the wit of course. Not liking corrie currently but jack all else on.

lollipoprainbow · 17/11/2022 08:00

How many streets have a couple of lawyers just sitting round waiting for cases like DeeDee !

eggandonion · 17/11/2022 08:55

It is going to be on at the wrong time with football and im a celebrity, isn't it. I won't know if im coming or going.
Where is the flat the baddies hang out in, is Craig keeping it under surveillance? Is the Bernie story over, I ignored it.

Bagpuss2022 · 17/11/2022 10:04

That Bernie storyline was so bizarre is that it over now? Is the doppelgänger gone forever? Goes to show how rubbish the writing on Corrie with storylines like this , when they do it good they do it good but that’s getting rarer and rarer these days I’m close to stopping watching

Yesthatismychildsigh · 17/11/2022 10:23

The preaching in coronary street is becoming unbearable. Highlighting issues is one thing, but I don’t watch a bit of escapism to be preached at. It’s tedious.

Yes I thought Sheridan smith too!
To be fair, I don't think this radicalisation storyline is too bad compared to all the other plots atm.

No it's a bit much

That's exactly how I feel too... preached at.

There are some people out there that need things that are important spelt out to them though.
And it highlights how easy it can be to fall for grooming

mycatisannoying · 18/11/2022 02:28

I really don't like Nick. He's so sneery.

The problem is it doesn’t really … it’s as if they just choose a random member of the cast for it (see also eating disorders, abusive relationships and so on.)

A proper exploration of why max was so vulnerable - his early years in and out of care and the death of his mother and that sense of not having a proper place in the world would have shown how it happens and how easy it is to be sucked into it.

As it is, there’s no buildup or nuance. A refugee has randomly appeared and been targeted. So much more effective and shocking when it’s a character we already know and have a sort of relationship with - Aadi for instance.

Beeinalily · 18/11/2022 08:06

Are they really trying to tell us that if we don't believe everything in the papers we're racists?

lollipoprainbow · 18/11/2022 08:12

Yes it would have been much more effective it had been aadi, as opposed to a wooden top actor just plonked in.

eggandonion · 18/11/2022 08:31

I like Daryan, but agree Aadi would have been a better target.

timetogetlost · 18/11/2022 10:41

I see some quite critical remarks but I have just really enjoyed catching up on the first half of Weds episode. I thought Roy's speech was really well written.

ajandjjmum · 18/11/2022 11:21

I actually quite enjoyed the meeting in the Community Centre - and only Roy could have given that rebuttal. He is a great actor.

WeDontNeedToTalkAboutJamie · 18/11/2022 11:23

I think the story line is interesting. And if it were done well ( which it won't be) would be the perfect way to show hope grooming works.

They start of telling Max how bad Daryan is. He 'stole' his school place, Speed Dahl prefer him etc.

But ^obviously' Aaliyah etc prefer Daryan because they are (historically) immigrants and therefore 'racist' against white British.

And... total outrage... Dev and twins are also descended from immigrants (sorry, I don't actually know their cultural heritage) and have the audacity to own half the businesses on the street.

They couldn't have gone straight in with "Aadi is bad" because he hasn't done anything to Max. (Neither has Daryan, but they can twist it so he had) . I don't think Max would fall for the 'evil Aadi' narrative unless they build up to it.

The trouble with soaps is they assume we've all watched them forever and know all the back stories. Maybe Max needs to have a conversation with Griff/Kelly mk2 talking about his tragic childhood and how unloved he's always felt.

WeDontNeedToTalkAboutJamie · 18/11/2022 11:24

Hope = how.

Optimist1 · 18/11/2022 20:16

At the beginning of tonight's episode Spider was on the phone to his handler while Nick and Leanne were out. Then Sam emerged from his room. Do you reckon he overheard Spider's conversation and will blow his cover?

Egarag · 18/11/2022 21:06

The whole Spider undercover thing makes zero sense.

Why would an undercover officer use his own identity, on a street where everyone knows him?

JemimaTab · 18/11/2022 21:19

It makes no sense at all Spider being “undercover” in a street where everyone knows him. It not much on this show makes sense.

icecreamgirl94 · 18/11/2022 23:12

I’ve genuinely never done this before but I tried to catch up on Wednesday’s episode tonight and turned it off 5 minutes in. Maria getting emotional over Daryan was just one preachy scene too many for me. Honestly never thought I’d have to take a break, but here we are 🤦🏻‍♀️

Clawdy · 19/11/2022 08:05

So Kelly is the new Doctor Who companion! She must be so glad she left the Street!

lollipoprainbow · 19/11/2022 08:09

@Clawdy I bet she is ! Corrie is so dire right now, she got out at the right time.
