After todays episode I get why they're showing jack like that. Some parents react like that and it's a shock to the system and they need help.

It's completely realistic. A parent that shouts is a parent that doesn't understand what is going on, why it is happening and doesn't know what to do. They don't want to believe it is happening and they want to believe it can all be fixed with a clock of the fingers and a "chin up!"

Jack's reaction seems way over the top to me. He is a copper, so may well have dealt with people in crisis during his career.
I know it is different when it is your own kid.
Both my parents reacted as he did when they found out about my own struggles as a teen. Over 25 years later, I will still never open up to them about my mental health. I needed a Denise, not a Jack.
