I don't mind Clare, she's been part of the team anyway for long enough- she's just doing a bit extra. And the 'Voice of doom' channel change bit, probably .

I am a bit confuused today, because I spent a large part of yesterday thinking it was Friday.

Clare can be a bit shouty and excitable at times but yes at least she’s got a lot of presenting experience - I’ll miss Sue though

At least they’ve not gone with the presenter from last year who didn’t seem to understand the basics of tennis (although she is usually good on the cricket)

Fizzy I don't watch cricket, so I don't know what Isa's role with that is- whether it's more commentator than presenter/host/interviewer. She seemed a bit out of her depth- and it's not even a case of not knowing anything about tennis. Clare's background isn't tennis- Des Lynam was great, I think he started out specialising in boxing.

But there were some glaring errors- like not really seeming to understand the format of a match at times. Not something you can get away with on the broadcast of the tennis tournament of the summer.

She disappeared over the finals weekend- there was no mention of her. Though I've a feeling it was always the case she was only doing the week bits- but it still seemed odd.

I'm still hoping that 'Sue's Cruise' with Matt and Phil is actually a thing. .

If not, it will have to exist on this thread.

She seemed to freeze if something unexpected happened unlike Sue who could probably have carried on during an earthquake.

Maybe they'll put Inverdale back on TAW? He was actually good on there (don't mention Marion Bartoli)

Yes, the job is about having to cut to something when the rain comes, or a streaker runs across the pitch. Or Eggheads is about to start. I suppose, Sue had 30 years of experience to draw on. A good anchor needs to ad lib easily when your fellow pundits are starting a row about ranking points and Russia.

I do agree that Inverdale was actually good at his job (when he kept to his actual job, rather than saying things he shouldn't)- and I sort of missed him a bit because ITV don't have RG anymore- and I'm not as keen on the Eurosport coverage.

But surely unexpected things must happen during the cricket (running out of tea maybe)?

You'd think, wouldn't you? It rains a lot. Well, it does here. Not so much if she's commentating on a match in the West Indies, I suppose.

I’m not a cricket fan but DH is so that’s when I’ve seen Isa - tea and rain are about the only things I know about cricket!

I’m not an Inverdale fan - I just think about what he said about Marion Bartoli whenever I see him (and he looks a bit like a lizard!)

Just checking today's schedule- today, I really want Daniil to beat Djok. It's another 'pride only ' match- but he's not going to want to go down 3-0 (again). Though he did redeem himself the following year by winning the title.

Who is playing today? They're talking about Casper but the schedule says he's not playing.

Jane no, it's the other group today I think. So, it's Djok and Daniil now, and Andrey and Stef tonight.

I think the semis are tomorrow, and finals on Sunday.

Of course, the football starts Sunday, so not sure if there will be a clash .not on my telly.
