From what I saw, Rafa seemed to play better, certainly he was able to serve better. I don't know if it was the combination of the opponent or the pressure being off. Casper may have held back a but, to avoid risk of injury before the semis.

I'm just glad Rafa got a win. I wouldn't have wanted to listen to them bang on about all his losses again.

The rain is so bad here. Dd2 is going to down, just getting to the car.

Haven't seen any tennis this week and was looking forward to watching but a BT man came out and fiddled around with our broadband, which keeps dropping.

On the plus side, Rafa won and I got the ironing done.

Been lovely and sunny here today, we got the rain yesterday.

Unfortunately, I've got an ear infection atm which is excruciating, but it's given me time to catch up on some reading. Just read an article about commentators in this year's Wimbledon Programme (only 4 months late!). They were writing about the sublime Dan Maskell and then today's crop of (mainly) f*wits. A couple of paragraphs leapt off the page. I'll try to attach them below.

I also have ear problems. I think the Covid did it. I got anti inflammatory drops from the chemist but they're not doing much. I think I will probably have go to the doctor. Maybe it's the altitude affecting me?

Sorry that you’re also being affected by the altitude Jane - it’s got a lot to answer for (although I think it might go away now that Rafa is out!)

Jane to* *altitude but commiserations with the ear. The doctor prescribed me a spray to bring the inflammation down. Same as an off the shelf spray but with added ingredients to do this, meaning it's prescription only.

The problem with my doctor is he will give me penicillin but I think I'm immune to it. The only antibiotics that work for me are the really strong ones that destroy your digestive system so I tend to ignore things and hope they go away. DH is nagging me to go to doctor though.

I couldn’t watch Rafa’s match today but was happy to see the score. It sounds like it was a mix of him playing better and Casper playing slightly worse? Slim margins between all these players. Earlier in the week they were saying that Casper was guaranteed to top the group, but I don’t really see how that can be the case, surely the winner of tonight’s match could finish top now?

Ice it was slim margins, looking at the score line- but Rafa also served 16 aces- which is a high number for him, in one match. Considering the court will have got faster over the week, too, I think he just seemed more comfortable. He also knows Casper's game very well, I imagine. I do wonder though, how much Casper held back- it was, after all, a 'dead' rubber. Although thre were ranking points and a fair amount of cash at stake

Whoever wins tonight will also have won 2 matches, and lost 1. Same as Casper, so then it comes down to number of sets/games won- and who beat who.

I get confused by the maths of round robins but at the moment Casper has won his 3 matches - 4 sets to 3.
Fritz can only win 5 -2 but Felix could win 4 to 2 and top the group?
