New 6 part drama. Series 1 was good - thread here

not sure if s2 carries on or completely new story /characters as the names don’t ring a bell

Christine’s family, oldest son Will (Lloyd Everitt), youngest son Jamie (Aaron Anthony) and daughter Megan (Mali Ann Rees), are trying to get on with their lives after the recent tragic death of their brother Liam.

As they look forward to Megan’s wedding, the family have their lives turned upside down when a stranger, Connor (Jordan Wilks), arrives in town claiming a connection that nobody could have imagined.

As buried secrets come to light, they must consider who they are and grapple with morality and divided loyalty. As their lives spiral out of control, a terrible pact may be all that can save them.

@Emotionalsupportviper here is a link to the thread

Gangs of London, S2. It’s here! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/telly_addicts/4659175-gangs-of-london-s2-its-here

foxlover47 · 27/10/2022 23:41

@Blondeshavemorefun almost forgot it was back until I saw a friend post it on fb

foxlover47 · 27/10/2022 23:42

What has the mum been in before I recognise her from
Something I'm sure recently 🤔🤔🤔

heartbroken22 · 28/10/2022 01:26

@foxlover47 I'm sure she was the detective in season 1. They've made her a social worker in season 2?

ICrunchCrispsNotNumbers · 28/10/2022 03:40

@heartbroken22 @foxlover47 yes, Rakie Ayola played one of the police detectives in the first series. 🙂

Romeiswheretheheartis · 28/10/2022 10:39

I do think it's weird to have made the mum a social worker when we knew her as police previously. It's not even as if they're making out she's had a career change as she's obviously been working with her social work colleague for years.

Emotionalsupportviper · 28/10/2022 12:11

Is she the same character, though?

I haven't re-watched season 1 and I can't remember it in great detail. Perhaps it's the same actress playing a different role.

If so, it's confusing for those who remember her from the previous season. I know it's common for actors to appear in long-running programmes as different people, but usually there is a gap between appearances - and also, they're usually thing like Corrie and The Bill, where there are about 1,000,000 characters and a lot of simultaneous, fast-running storylines, so the less prominent characters aren't so noticeable.

foxlover47 · 28/10/2022 13:58

@heartbroken22 @ICrunchCrispsNotNumbers ahhhh yes she looks familiar
I bet she's so lovely in real life

hockeygrass · 28/10/2022 14:15

I think the writer of Series 1 really liked Rakie Ayola so he wrote the second series with a story line written around her as the main part.

www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2022/oct/18/rakie-ayola-the-pact-interview

I know the part of South Wales where the series is filmed quite well and its lovely seeing it on the screen with such a gripping storyline too.

Emotionalsupportviper · 28/10/2022 14:39

She's a very pretty woman, isn't she? Lovely face.

ageingdisgracefully · 28/10/2022 15:30

Thanks for that article, PP. I thought that Ayola was playing the same character and that she'd moved career somehow. Obviously not...😁

I see Matthew Gravelle has made a brief appearance already - was he in the previous series?

hockeygrass · 28/10/2022 16:17

@ageingdisgracefully , Matthew G wasn't in the first series of The Pact but I think he was in this years Silent Witness - amongst many other things!

foxlover47 · 28/10/2022 17:33

The scenery is beautiful

foxlover47 · 28/10/2022 17:33

The scenery is beautiful

It is, isn't it? The town with the pier is Penarth, there's bits of Barry (including I think Barry Sidings, where the train carriages are), I think the cafe overlooking the sea is Sully Island and the cliffs are (I think) at Southerndown, further west along the coast. 😎

They've kept the filming pretty close. I don't recognise Christine's house though.

hockeygrass · 28/10/2022 22:37

@ageingdisgracefully , you can Google
Pact 2 series locations, it says Christine's house is in Llantwit Major - apparently it took ages to find a remote Victorian large house that the writer had imagined.
