Last nights episode was definitely better.. maybe it warming up!

billysboy · 23/09/2022 19:02

Loved it

InsertPunHere · 24/09/2022 10:19

Wasn’t it gorgeous? I’m thoroughly enjoying it. Much more fun episode this week.

EasyLifer · 24/09/2022 13:01

I agree, lovely episode. I'm glad Helen isn't cooking on that little stove anymore in that cramped space, it looked very dangerous!

BestIsWest · 24/09/2022 23:15

I loved this weeks. I loved the original as a teenager, especially Peter Davison’s Tristan. But I love this one more.

Maireas · 25/09/2022 09:40

What a lovely episode, good characters and beautiful scenery. It's a bit of a tonic.

Ginger1982 · 29/09/2022 21:30

Enjoying this so far! Nice to get a bit more Siegfried ❤️

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 29/09/2022 22:02

Loved tonight's episode and Siegfrieds back story.

Beautiful horses as well 😍

Forestdweller11 · 29/09/2022 22:03

Oh crikey. It was so sad.

bloodyunicorns · 29/09/2022 22:14

I read all the books and watched the original series, and am finding it difficult to enjoy this new series as much. It's not nearly as true to the books, which is a shame. I note that they credit a new writer for 'extra scenes'.

This Siegfried is really annoying - much more annoying than the original Robert Hardy, who always had so much charm.

Sigh.

But it is nice autumn tv viewing...

bloodyunicorns · 29/09/2022 22:14

And yes - why were there no guests at the wedding??!

We must agree to disagree! I would let Sam West all over me 😂 Couldn't say the same for Robert Hardy (rest his soul).

Tigresswoods · 30/09/2022 07:46

Agreed @Ginger1982 , I'd climb him like a tree!

Maireas · 30/09/2022 07:49

I think Sam West is excellent in the role and brings such humour and humanity to it. Robert Hardy was just bombastic.
I have read that the family are very happy with this version, in particular the character of James, which is more like him.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 30/09/2022 08:48

I'm waiting for Helen to announce she's pregnant now! Thought she was going to say it Ystd when they were in the car.

I agree there is something about Siegfried, i certainly wouldn't kick him out of bed 😂 the younger Siegfried was also hot (I'm assuming different actor?!)

BestIsWest · 30/09/2022 09:26

I also think Sam West is fantastic in this. Lovely in fact.

Abra1t · 30/09/2022 09:32

Those horses 😢

DoraSpenlow · 30/09/2022 10:30

Loved last night's episode but there was no way that River, beautiful as he was, was a racehorse. Surely they could have got a thoroughbred from somewhere,

BestIsWest · 30/09/2022 10:32

DH kept saying he was no racehorse but as neither of us knows anything about horses I wasn’t sure whether he was right.

I was watching it like "that's a cob!"

Yeah I don't know a thing about horses but thought it didn't look very fast 😂 beautiful though.

meateatingveggie · 30/09/2022 11:33

Ahhhh. The young Farnon is being voiced by the new Farnon... (took me most of the episode to realise 🤦🏻‍♀️).

diddl · 30/09/2022 11:46

I also like Sam West in the role.

Robert Hardy was 53 when he first played Siegfried-Sam West 54!

According to Wiki- "When Wight's first book was published, Sinclair was offended by his portrayal and said, "Alfred, this book is a real test of our friendship."

He was also said to be more eccentric than portrayed.

Yes, couldn’t see him in a race but he was lovely.
