The official synopsis for Bloodlands season 2 says: "When the murder of a crooked accountant unravels a trail of greed that threatens to expose his identity as legendary assassin, Goliath, DCI Tom Brannick and the accountant’s widow, Olivia Foyle must keep each other dangerously close.

"As they try to solve the riddle her husband left behind, and become more and more immersed in the puzzle of each other, Tom and Olivia draw in Tom’s fellow officers DS Niamh McGovern, DCS Jackie Twomey and DC 'Birdy' Bird, as well as Tom’s daughter, Izzy, until deceit and betrayal force Tom to question just what lengths he will go to to keep his legacy intact."

Season 2 of Bloodlands looks set to explore the aftermath of Pat Keenan and Tori Matthews's deaths, which Tom is responsible for.

While police believe that Pat Keenan was Goliath all along and that he killed Tori because he somehow found out that she was the one who kidnapped him, we know that Tom gave Pat Tori's identity because she knew he was the person behind the Goliath killings and he knew that Pat would kill Tori.

SO... the Savage Family was sending gold (and a couple of rifles) to Goliath in his capacity as an IRA terrorist? Except JN was undercover as an IRA terrorist, and really feeding intel back to the police? Or not? Or was he planning on keeping the gold for himself and disappearing Goliath?

i was wondering about the daughter and the gold - would any of us know how on earth to deal with bars of gold, without having to try and sus out "dodgy" people.

i thought we knew JN had killed his wife from the first one but maybe we didn't?

not sure how a season 3 would play out.

and any flashback of JN is amusing as we know what he looks like young - Adam in cold feet - who in fact i think looks OLDER than JN now!

The gold and weapons were meant for the two blokes JN shot when he was coerced into being 'Goliath' by threats against his wife and/or infant daughter. Except the coercer was his wife's lover, when they turned up he shot the bloke and the wife disappeared leaving him with the shipment... I think.

The gold belongs to the American state from whom the Savages nicked it.

The cliffhanger really was a cliffhanger... if I was Izzy I'd be tempted to chuck the damned gold over the edge.

Aargh what is it with this trend of series ending without telling us what actually happens! It's so infuriating!

I think I def lost the plot because I staters to enjoy the dramatic music at the beginning dragging out what had happened previously more than the actual show

It's because they're hoping for a third series but don't have it in the bag, so they have to leave it at a sort of finish point but with lots of loose ends and potential get-outs. Though I'm darned if I can see how JN can wiggle out of the CCTV footage that Niamh was on her way to confront him with.

Maybe the long lost wife (who was of course in Intelligence) is going to descend like a deus ex machina and reset the parameters.

Unless jn says he was moving him to be safe and American threaten Izzy so he complied

and that it was American who killed both birdy and the man they moved

You're going to have to get used to suspending your disbelief if you're going to watch Bloodlands. Starting with the baffling fact that your man Jimmy is supposed to be an irresistible sex magnet.
