Soooooooooooooo bloodlands is back for second series

taking space of the capture

don’t read if havnt seen s1 - watch that then come back here 😂😂

The official synopsis for Bloodlands season 2 says: "When the murder of a crooked accountant unravels a trail of greed that threatens to expose his identity as legendary assassin, Goliath, DCI Tom Brannick and the accountant’s widow, Olivia Foyle must keep each other dangerously close.

"As they try to solve the riddle her husband left behind, and become more and more immersed in the puzzle of each other, Tom and Olivia draw in Tom’s fellow officers DS Niamh McGovern, DCS Jackie Twomey and DC 'Birdy' Bird, as well as Tom’s daughter, Izzy, until deceit and betrayal force Tom to question just what lengths he will go to to keep his legacy intact."

Season 2 of Bloodlands looks set to explore the aftermath of Pat Keenan and Tori Matthews's deaths, which Tom is responsible for.

While police believe that Pat Keenan was Goliath all along and that he killed Tori because he somehow found out that she was the one who kidnapped him, we know that Tom gave Pat Tori's identity because she knew he was the person behind the Goliath killings and he knew that Pat would kill Tori.

I have just caught up as well, episode was ok but I was surprised they kept the gold in the cases for all those years

I like Niamh and Birdy

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/09/2022 00:10

Agree @DuncinToffee

hardy safe unless that was for transporting

same for the oil shed that jn went to in old house

would you really hide millions there

I find it amusing how Olivia stared lustily at JN. Do you think he has it written into his contract that his character has to be irresistible to the opposite sex? 😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/09/2022 09:39

I do love an Irish accent so shut my eyes and I will swoon 😂😂

I really enjoyed last weeks e1

I watched it, it is getting bit too far fetched for my liking but will persevere.

JacquelineCarlyle · 25/09/2022 23:41

I still have no clue what's going on! I do like his daughter and the police officer though.

Did JN disappear her mum / his wife?

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/09/2022 00:05

I don’t think we found out what happens to his wife

just she dissapeered years ago when s1 people did

i can’t remember if she was a copper as well and was an informant so hid?

I could be wrong 😂

The Disappeared is an NI thing @Blondeshavemorefun - sadly many people were 'disappeared' by terrorists for a variety of reasons (e.g. helping a dying soldier) and their bodies were never found. It was a way of keeping people from their own communities talking / doing something that the terrorists didn't want, as you wouldn't want to be disappeared yourself. Sadly many have still not been found and their families left wondering decades later.

So the way they've been speaking about the mum made me think she was one of the disappeared, rather than her simply disappearing and if JN is a terrorist, it's highly likely he was responsible or at least involved in some way.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/09/2022 04:25

You think so @JacquelineCarlyle he would disappear his own wife and mum to their child 🙀🥲

JacquelineCarlyle · 26/09/2022 08:17

I don't know @Blondeshavemorefun - maybe she knew he was Goliath and threatened to tell the police. Anyway, as I've mentioned before, I've actually no clue what's going on in this TV show (& normally I'm quite good at following things!) and am only watching as it's set in NI!

JacquelineCarlyle · 26/09/2022 08:18

I am weirdly enjoying it though Grin

CherrySmiler · 26/09/2022 08:25

The acting is a bit dire. James Nesbitt’s moody expressions remind me of Joey from Friends and his acting tips (smelling a fart). I watched Season 1 and thought it was a bit rubbish but wish I’d rewatched it before starting Season 2.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/09/2022 09:36

It’s his eyebrows. Still very dark. Why didn’t they dye them 😂

surely police will look at roads near safe house and see his car driving there

OP posts:
JacquelineCarlyle · 26/09/2022 11:05

There aren't as many cameras in NI as there are in England, especially when you go outside of Belfast, so his car not being on camera wouldn't be a surprise to me actually.

the80sweregreat · 26/09/2022 14:32

The bit where they zoom into JN's face is very Paddington bear stare isn't it?
He would play a good devil
I didn't know this was series two , I can't remember if I watched the first one or not
I don't think I did
A cop being a baddie is a bit different.

KillingMeDeftly · 26/09/2022 14:45

He would play a good devil

Does anyone remember that Dr Jeckyll and Mr Hyde adaptation he was in in the early 00s? He was perfectly cast in that.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/09/2022 14:50

@the80sweregreat you need to watch s1

its linked to this and will make more sense

OP posts:
DuncinToffee · 26/09/2022 15:05

i can’t remember if she was a copper as well and was an informant so hid?

IIRC she was working for the military intelligence agency.

And there was the whole thing with the owl necklaces

KillingMeDeftly · 26/09/2022 15:20

I can't remember from the first series but was it implied that Tom had done away with his wife or that she had disappeared of her own accord and might still be alive?

the80sweregreat · 26/09/2022 15:34

I don't think I did watch series one.
I think my dislike of JN put me off it !! Although I watched a Netflix drama with him as a ( good ) cop and someone who was in Eastenders ( Tanya actress ) and that was ok.
I didn't get the love for him in cold feet!

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/09/2022 16:14

@KillingMeDeftly im not sure

James Nesbitts best role by far was Colin Howell in The Secret. An unforgettable story and performance.
