The official synopsis for Bloodlands season 2 says: "When the murder of a crooked accountant unravels a trail of greed that threatens to expose his identity as legendary assassin, Goliath, DCI Tom Brannick and the accountant’s widow, Olivia Foyle must keep each other dangerously close.

"As they try to solve the riddle her husband left behind, and become more and more immersed in the puzzle of each other, Tom and Olivia draw in Tom’s fellow officers DS Niamh McGovern, DCS Jackie Twomey and DC 'Birdy' Bird, as well as Tom’s daughter, Izzy, until deceit and betrayal force Tom to question just what lengths he will go to to keep his legacy intact."

Season 2 of Bloodlands looks set to explore the aftermath of Pat Keenan and Tori Matthews's deaths, which Tom is responsible for.

While police believe that Pat Keenan was Goliath all along and that he killed Tori because he somehow found out that she was the one who kidnapped him, we know that Tom gave Pat Tori's identity because she knew he was the person behind the Goliath killings and he knew that Pat would kill Tori.

start of season 3 DS McGovern turns up and the daughter has disappeared with the gold

Brannick goes to prison but only for a short time as he somehow manages to 'get away with murder'

Izzy takes over his criminal empire

Well, I'm not sitting through another six hours of that.

I'm surprised Izzy didn't kill her daddy as well with the whole "I done it all for you". What a shitty thing for Tom to say. No being sorry for being bent, no sorry for Birdie. I thought Izzy was very restrained.

Also, I'm not being funny but I don't get the whole obsession with the gold. Both Tom and Olivia's downfalls were their obsession with the gold. What use would it be? It's not like they can cash it in at the local bank. And the police are all over the missing gold do the minute one of them showed up with it they would lose it 🤷🏻‍♀️

I don't think Izzy will forgive her daddy somehow. She won't do a runner with the gold because she'll then be as bad as her daddy. I think she won't be there when the police turn up. They know Tom was on the CCTV so be interesting to see if he fesses all or makes out he was undercover trying to catch Olivia and Savage.

But couldn't they say that American boy killed olivia and that Izzy or Tom shot him in self defence ?

Savage wasn't shot, he was stunned/injured by the booby trap and then appropriately bludgeoned with a bar of gold, spattering Tom. So that doesn't work.

Savage was part of a criminal empire, he'd have stashed it and then smuggled/traded it somehow. He might have still had links in Ireland - the gold and guns were originally destined for one of the terrorist organisations (I've forgotten which).

No doubt Olivia and Tom could have found someone like the dodgy jeweller to melt it down, but I don't know what Tom thought Izzy could do with it.

'Hi there, I called in earlier to sign my mortgage forms with my daddy? Well, I'm here to pay the whole thing off with this rucksack of gold bullion - can I get a receipt, please? No, my daddy won't be wanting to sign up for home insurance, thanks. Or life insurance, no.'

Part of me thinks that it actually is JN's gold. It was meant for Goliath, so... obviously ignoring the fact that the Savage family were finding terrorism and Goliath is a Bad Man, surely he can keep it with a (relatively speaking) clean conscience? To spend on small houses for his ungrateful daughter and on fancy kitchens to (badly) stash his weaponry in.

The other part is just so furious that it ended on a cliff hanger. I mean... take the gold. Daddy is offering to take the hit on everything. Take the gold, leg it (slowly because it's heavy) and buy all the hats and jogging bottoms you like.

Poor Birdy though. At least he was found.

Yes, start of series 2 opened with a sprightly balaclava wearing JN opening crates looking for the gold that had been sent to him/goliath. I think there's been another mention of it too.

I've forgotten why Colin Foyle was looking after it. Mostly because I've been banging my head against a wall st the sheer ridiculousness of the programme.

Why didn't Birdy hide his USB behind Niamh's useless crime board? I keep thinking of more issues i have with it. 😆
