The official synopsis for Bloodlands season 2 says: "When the murder of a crooked accountant unravels a trail of greed that threatens to expose his identity as legendary assassin, Goliath, DCI Tom Brannick and the accountant’s widow, Olivia Foyle must keep each other dangerously close.

"As they try to solve the riddle her husband left behind, and become more and more immersed in the puzzle of each other, Tom and Olivia draw in Tom’s fellow officers DS Niamh McGovern, DCS Jackie Twomey and DC 'Birdy' Bird, as well as Tom’s daughter, Izzy, until deceit and betrayal force Tom to question just what lengths he will go to to keep his legacy intact."

Season 2 of Bloodlands looks set to explore the aftermath of Pat Keenan and Tori Matthews's deaths, which Tom is responsible for.

While police believe that Pat Keenan was Goliath all along and that he killed Tori because he somehow found out that she was the one who kidnapped him, we know that Tom gave Pat Tori's identity because she knew he was the person behind the Goliath killings and he knew that Pat would kill Tori.

It was alleged that his wife had an affair with one of the victims. The brother said something and there was that ugly owl necklace. So it could be either. We were none the wiser on the series 1 thread.

I’ve been watching. Love the James Nesbitt close up moody look. I wonder if something horrible will befall Birdy. I hope not.

Completely agree & such a shocking true story too. If it weren't true, you'd never believe it!

Watching tonight I've just noticed what a massive head James Nesbitt has. Literally, not figuratively.

We watch it but spend most of the time laughing at the dreadful acting. The costume people should hang their heads making her wear that hat / veil thing at the funeral. Like wise up.

Yes, Olivia’s acting is cringe inducing, so very over the top! Some of her outfits have been absolutely fabulous (that red suit was 😍) but omg that veil. Whyyyyyyyy 🤣🤣🤣

Thoughts:

1. does a full-on grieving widow hat-with-veil go with a black trouser suit?
2. why is the contractual JN sex scene always so excruciating?
3. wasn't the previous grieving widow also an icy blonde?
4. is this basically Shetland? What with the shrewd brunette female copper who does all the work; the nice but only sporadically relevant male copper; the many shots of DI Tormented Man driving the product placement moderately-priced-saloon car through spectacular scenery; the perky motherless child; the mystery of the missing mother?
5. Wait, that's also Hinterland. Although, to be fair, the shrewd female copper is blonde in that. Otherwise, as you were.

I've not read this thread as I'm only just watching series 1.

Have been perusing a thread started by Blondes when it was first on.

Not read all as only reading as far as I have watched.

Was interested about priests & illegitimate children.

I'm guessing that the parish didn't help out the mothers & children at all?

If the priests admitted it it's disgraceful that they weren't sacked.

Seen the bit where the doc visits her mum & tells her that she might have to stop trying to find out who killed her dad & her mum is furious with her.

I wonder if at any time the doc is ever furious with her dad for not leaving the church & living as a family.

Obviously wrong that he was murdered but not sure how much I'd put myself out for him in those circs!

I had an absolutely bonkers vivid dream on Sunday night that I was a police officer working with James Nesbitt and Birdy. We were driving somewhere in Belfast (that looked strangely like some sort of German tourist town with twinkly lights everywhere) and JN was trying to murder me and Birdy without us realising.

Anyway. I think that dream was instigated by the horrific piggy sex face on JN at the end of the episode.
