HOTD will be premiering on the 21st Aug (22nd Aug for U.K.)

I would say watch it, in GOT houses like the Starks/Lannister's were mostly what the plot revolved around. HOTD is a prequel series and focuses on house Targaryens

I am excited for the LOTR series too but worried I will get confused if I watch both at the same time

@LittleFeetJo i think you should be ok because it’s set 200 years before GOT :)

@houseofthedragon I can't wait for the LOTR series either it looks really good, but I agree watching both at the same time might get a bit confusing!

I wonder if this was why game of thrones was rushed so they could make the prequel ?

Plus I think there is another chapter to game of thrones, as bran is still possessed by the three eyed raven, and I'm guessing if Jon snow can be resurrected then I wonder if the Dragon took Danny to be resurrected too ?

On the Reddit page it says GOT was rushed as D&D wanted to get on to the Star Wars project. I've seen theories that Drogon takes Dany to the red priestess we saw previously where she is resurrected, would make a good storyline for the new series 'Snow' which is in discussion. George R.R Martin has said that the books will be different to the tv series, I'm curious to see what happens!

I read the books and given up waiting for the next instalment. I think GRR has given up too!

I loved it. Loved hearing the theme tune again too. I think it’s missing a good looking man to fall in love with and why is Daemon Targaryen (relatively) good?

It would be hopeful that there is a new series, I'm guessing then it will be possibly danny vs possessed bran.

Pity about varys, although with his intellect, the writers did poorly by having him openly undermining dannys rule.

It certainly seems unusual, has he written the book for the prequel ?

I thought it was great. I was a fan of GOT but the (terrible) ending tainted the whole series for me so I wasn't too excited for this. But the first episode was promising and hopefully they don't mess this one up...

I really enjoyed it, like going back to the beginning of GoT although I had to hid my eyes during some parts. There's some really interesting characters and it shows a great deal of promise

Ok,,,, the childbirth scene traumatised me

GRRM doesn't seem to have given up on Winds of Winter - he keeps updating about progress: last post was that he was about to wrap up the storyline on one or two of the viewpoint characters. I do think it will be published, but unless he's hiding something big A Dream of Spring seems unrealisable.

Fire and Blood the book is meant to be the first half of the Targaryen history. House of the Dragon starts half way through the events told Fire and Blood.

Bugger, I cancelled my Sky subscription last week as I no longer watch it. Do I watch the first 4 episodes then risk not being able to watch the rest?!

I had to giggle a family tree to see who is who and I saw a massive spoiler. Ergh. Don't Google the family tree guys.

Those of you who have watched it, what age would you say it is appropriate for? I have a dragon mad child!

Not for children! Very graphic violence, quite a bit of sex.

I think I know the massive spoiler you mean and I also can't find an actual family tree without it which just shows the state of play at the beginning of the show. There's a gap in the market for a tree that updates births deaths and marriages week by week as episodes air.

Re children I would say 16 fine if you have seen it yourself , indeed a bit younger if you can avoid the brief background orgy thing or the childbirth scene The swordplay / bloodletting , different issue.
