As an original fan from the 80s/90s who hasn’t watched it in years, can anyone give a brief synopsis of current storylines so I get what’s going on in the final week?!

OP posts:
ChessieFL · 29/07/2022 22:08

Was the ‘lost to us’ chap Doug Willis?

Antarcticant · 29/07/2022 22:08

I enjoyed that more than I expected. Jane and Mike splitting up is about the last thing I remember from when I watched it as a teenager, so it was nice to see them getting back together again 😆

Didn't recognise anyone except Jane, Mike, Paul, Scott, Charlene, Des and Harold, but nice to see them again.

burnoutbabe · 29/07/2022 22:13

No I think Doug was sat at the table with madge? It was a dark hair chap, just after that?

I assumed sone later people were toadies first wife? And Hendrix maybe (I have been sort of following the plot for a bit without watching episodes)

ChessieFL · 29/07/2022 22:24

Sorry, thought you meant the man at the table. Another thread suggests the man you’re thinking of might be Finn?

x2boys · 29/07/2022 22:29

I think the old bloke was Doug Willis?
Also known as Jason Donovans Dad .

x2boys · 29/07/2022 22:31

Did I also spot Phillip Martin in a very 80,s shirt?

burnoutbabe · 29/07/2022 22:37

Ah Finn wasn't one I knew of. Thanks!

I recognised almost everyone and haven’t watched it since 2001. What was great is the producers knew the key figures were from the show’s golden era and it was heavily focused on them. Really did give a nod to everyone who made Neighbours what it was. Above all though it captured the joyous nature of the show.

Antarcticant · 29/07/2022 22:49

I can't remember exactly when I last watched it - I think it was around 1990!

DH said exactly this.

×2boys yes that was Phillip Martin, it was sad to see all the old characters coming back, it's a pity they couldn't have got them back to keep it going. Does anyone thing Natalie Imbruglia has had plastic surgery? She looked like she had had a face-lift.

Antarcticant · 29/07/2022 22:57

I remember it was originally shown in the UK during the daytime (i.e. in school hours) and people used to get their parents to video tape it. We didn't have a video recorder, so I didn't see it till it moved to the later slot before the 6 o'clock news.

Yes she look good but a little to unlined for her age .

Me either everybody would get really into it in the school holidays and then couldn't keep up to date with it

Ooh just saw the last episode! Watched from the age of 8 in 1987 up until I went to University, so fully into the Mike, Jane, Charlene, Scott, Paul era.

It was a great watch and lovely to see Guy Pearce coming back and acting so well and taking it seriously, rather than Kylie doing one word from the balcony! It made me feel very nostalgic!

Also the Kennedy's who I recall arriving but who made the show their own. Legends!

Brilliant nostalgia and big love to the cast for years of happiness watching. The end of an era! FlowersFlowersFlowers

Glad I watched it. Charlene in a denim jumpsuit thinking about climbing through her mum's window and Mike and Jane on his motorbike 💜 Now I feel bloody old.

Not a bloody clue who anyone under 45 was though.

Antarcticant · 29/07/2022 23:26

The denim jumpsuit was a great touch, I thought.

Was I alone in picking up a hint that Scott and Charlene were thinking of buying one of the houses on Ramsey Street?

Yes! Julie died I think

Melroses · 29/07/2022 23:39

I haven't watched it since Daphne gave birth at a picnic with her knickers and tights on.

Does anyone know what became of the baby?

Was in not on top of a mountain?
No idea what became of baby Jamie

I have no idea - it was so long ago 😂

I thought they were having a picnic by a pond, but it could have been up a mountain too.

Antarcticant · 29/07/2022 23:57

It was on a river bank, wasn't it? They were royal blue tights - height of 80s fashion at the time.

Yes your right according to Google 🤣
Were they not ribbed tights too?
