i live in an area of mostly Victorian places, and the houses from the 50s and 70s, which were very modern back then, like theirs does now, they look awful in comparison.

put a few stair gates, cupboard locks, etc. and the kids open the doors when it's raining which ruins the carpets, yep and fingers marks on all that glass, and things being dropped on your head by the kids in the 'garden' whilst you entertain your posh friends in the 'patio'!
