I was really looking forward to the third series of the boys, but sadly I just can't get into it, others seem to be really enjoying it, so it's a me thing.

Could really do with something to get into, any recommendations?

The last things I watched that impressed me were station 11 and top boy (bit late to the party with that one).

Also Severence is unreal, stick with it as 1st episode a bit confusing until you realize what is happening, great actors and fantastic show and Succession best show seen for years. My all time favourite show is The Bridge but watch the Broen version the Nordic one and not the American one.

lugeforlife · 01/07/2022 20:53

@Angharad78 , re starstruck can you tell me if it's suitable for a young teen? Ok with reasonable bad language (maybe not the c word or prolonged but the ship has sailed now she's in secondary), mild sex references but not actual sex scenes etc.

So gavin and Stacey ok, inbetweeners a bit much iyswim.

Op sorry to highjack. I loved Ted Lasso, Hacks and atm the Outlaws is magnificent!

youngestisapsycho · 01/07/2022 20:54

Ted Lasso
Umbrella Academy
Stranger Things
Wheels of time?
The Witcher ( I loved this!)
I need something new.... which is better, Vikings or The Last Kingdom??

wheresmyshoe · 01/07/2022 20:55

Friday Night Lights is utterly compelling! I'm surprised and impressed with it.

lugeforlife · 01/07/2022 20:56

Also sitcom wise, I loved Big Boys, Trying( on Apple TV), Back yo Life and going back a couple of years, There she Goes with David Tennant.

midsomermurderess · 01/07/2022 20:57

Sherwood is shaping up to be just that.

Sunflowersinthewind · 01/07/2022 21:09

Bodies is on Netflix now if you didn't watch it back in 2004. Its bloody amazing

maeveiscurious · 01/07/2022 21:14

Barry - one of the best series I've seen in long time

Eyesopenwideawake · 01/07/2022 21:16

The Lazarus Project is amazing but the last episode will have you put your life on hold until S2!

And for something completely different - Clarkson's Farm.

jay55 · 01/07/2022 22:03

The wilds season 2 on Amazon

Angharad78 · 02/07/2022 08:19

@lugeforlife Perhaps wait a couple of years. There are a few fairly explicit scenes early on - but with some good messages about consent.

Haus1234 · 02/07/2022 08:24

To add to PPs recommendations, Severence and Succession are both fantastic.

MuddlerInLaw · 02/07/2022 08:37

OP have you watched all of My Brilliant Friend? Completely superb adaptation of Elena Ferrante’s novels.

(I’m assuming you’ve already seen both I May Destroy You and Succession!)

BackToTheTop · 02/07/2022 08:47

Stranger things - Netflix
Sherwood - BBC

Libertybear80 · 02/07/2022 08:53

The Night Sky on Now tv. Loved it.

darisdet · 02/07/2022 09:14

Another vote for Succession (Sky I think). Very good.

Also, if you haven't seen it already, The Bridge (subtitle version). BBC

iwantavuvezela · 02/07/2022 10:38

Better Things (I think on BBC iplayer or CH 4) was really really good - took me about 3 episodes to get into it - but after that couldn't stop watching -

Highly recommend if anyone hasn't seen this

Elvis movie at cinema last night. Awesome. Want to watch again, now.

MumOfNowGrownupKids · 02/07/2022 11:24

For All Mankind. Apple TV+

Appalonia · 02/07/2022 11:31

Hacks on Amazon is very good.

StellaAndCrow · 02/07/2022 12:49

Big Boys on Channel 4 - a quiet gay teenage boy goes off to university, finds he's sharing accommodation with an outgoing Essex boy

Ghosts on iPlayer - from the Horrible Histories crew. Lovely warm series, not at all scary or spooky. More of a Detectorists vibe.
