I was really looking forward to the third series of the boys, but sadly I just can't get into it, others seem to be really enjoying it, so it's a me thing.

Could really do with something to get into, any recommendations?

The last things I watched that impressed me were station 11 and top boy (bit late to the party with that one).

Widows. Film directed by Steve McQueen on Netflix.

Just watched that last night. Really good :)

Severance - if you like a metaphysical take of what goes on in a mind - shades of Being John Malkovich.
Shining Girls - Elisabeth Moss 90's set serial killer with timey-wimey sci-fi edge.
Dexter New Blood - worthy contribution as a memory wipe of the later seasons of Dexter series and finale which some did not like.

"Borgen" season 4

Smogtopia · 01/07/2022 14:44

If you loved girls then I'm begging you to watch fleabag

CockingASnook · 01/07/2022 14:45

Severance on Apple TV. It's stunningly good. But pretty much the only good thing on that platform.

MuddlerInLaw · 01/07/2022 14:45

There’s one episode - The Girl Who Waited - that I still cannot watch again (so had to leave out this time.) It completely traumatised me - like reading Iris Murdoch in one’s twenties …

The Man in the High Castle (Prime)

The Missing (Netflix)

Katrinawaves · 01/07/2022 14:47

I’m hooked on the Midwich Cuckoos on Now at the moment

TheMarzipanDildo · 01/07/2022 14:50

Another vote for Sherwood.

Abracadabra12345 · 01/07/2022 14:54

I’m watching Stranger Things and it’s absolutely brilliant. Breaking Bad gets better with each season so stick with it.

i really enjoyed the series Anatomy of a Stranger.

I couldn’t bear the Michael Show otherwise known as Star Trek Discovery, except for Season 2 which had a more ensemble cast and story before it returned to the Michael Show again, so I gave up. Life is way too short to be irritated

melmos · 01/07/2022 15:13

The staircase on now is good!

beastlyslumber · 01/07/2022 15:20

First Class (on Netflix.) It's gorgeous and stupid.

sleepymum50 · 01/07/2022 15:27

I watched a fabulous HBO documentary which I’d recorded on sky.

It was called The Janes. It was about a group of women who set up an abortion service in the US pre Roe vs Wade.

What they were doing was illegal, but they were driven to offer something safe and affordable after finding out how bad things were if you needed an abortion.

Wonderful, wonderful women (and a few men)!

Life after life bbc iPlayer. Bloody Brillant ! Bit confusing at start but v clever

Agree. It was fantastic!

CrossPurposes · 01/07/2022 15:46

The Wilds on Prime. I was worried about the dynamic of the show being affected by new cast members in the second series but it was still as gripping.

Cas112 · 01/07/2022 15:47

The secret - james nesbitt - netflix

ScurryfungeMaster · 01/07/2022 16:01

I finished watching ''Maid'' yesterday and it was one of the best tv series I've seen in ages.

QueenLagertha · 01/07/2022 16:14

Just finished "bodies" on Netflix. Completely binged it.

Angharad78 · 01/07/2022 16:18

Yellowstone of 5onDemand (obscurely). Big budget, stars Kevin Costner as v rich, v troubled rancher. His family is a mess and he doesn’t get on with his neighbours but it’s compelling and beautifully shot.

loved both series of Russian Doll on Netflix.

and StarStruck on iPlayer is like a lovely, gentle Fleabag.

bluebellinthewood · 01/07/2022 16:20

Absolutely loved sherwood.

Also anatomy of a scandal was good.

bluebellinthewood · 01/07/2022 16:21

Oh and meant to also say "tales of the city" was surprisingly good too

snowsea · 01/07/2022 16:22

Featuredcreature · 01/07/2022 13:52

If I didn't get on with breaking bad after 2.5 series, will I still like better call Saul?

I doubt it!

MuddlerInLaw · 01/07/2022 14:26

Why did everyone enjoy The Split except me? Usually love Nicola Walker in anything but that just felt too artificial and constructed. Abandoned it after two episodes. Mind you, I said the same about Derry Girls - and then fell in love with it.

They didn't! There's a couple of threads somewhere.

I found her completely unconvincing as a high flying lawyer. I watched every episode apart from the last one, and read about the ending online instead.

Yellowjackets

its about a group of teenage girls whose plane crashes in the wilderness and rescuers do not come . That story is told in parallel with stories of the survivors as adults. Each surviving character is played by two actresses, one teen and one middle aged. The characters are complex and it’s naturally very female centric. It is also violent and there are hints of a supernatural storyline, but the narrative is intentionally cryptic so people can easily make false assumptions.
