I was really looking forward to the third series of the boys, but sadly I just can't get into it, others seem to be really enjoying it, so it's a me thing.

Could really do with something to get into, any recommendations?

The last things I watched that impressed me were station 11 and top boy (bit late to the party with that one).

Old one, but 'Girls' (on Now TV). I kind of hated the first few episodes, then became completely obsessed and binge watched all six series in a week.

Just finished watching The Split on bbc iPlayer, 3 series and absolutely superb!!

Favouritefruits · 01/07/2022 14:14

I agree with PPs - Dead to Me is amazing, and I loved Widows

Unbelievable was pretty good

Ozark - Netflix

Love LOVED this although I found pretty much every episode stressful to watch 😳

Suggest watching something lovely and fluffy for at least 10 mins after (Parks and Rec ❤️😁) to bring your heart rate down a little!

ThreeImaginaryBoys · 01/07/2022 14:16

We Own This City
And it's an oldie but a beauty - The Wire

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 01/07/2022 14:17

Agree Mad Men is excellent although as a feminist I get very cross at myself because I'd happily climb Don Draper like a tree.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 01/07/2022 14:18

Sopranos

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 01/07/2022 14:20

I tried Ozark. Found it way too stressful - though I am sure the writing and acting is as brilliant as everyone says.

If you liked The Boys, you might like Titans. We really like Star Trek Discovery, it's got a different flavour to other Star Trek series. But you'll need Paramount+ for that.

I absolutely love girls! You are right the first few episodes are a bit obnoxious, particularly the one where she thinks stuff might have come out of the sides of the condom Grin. It's so so good though.

It might not be your thing, but I'm currently hooked on 'Walkabout.' (Amazon prime). I love the photography, and I've found a great online explanation of all the different themes. Every time I watch it I see something different that I'd previously missed. And of course, brilliant acting from Jenny Agutter.

MuddlerInLaw · 01/07/2022 14:26

Why did everyone enjoy The Split except me? Usually love Nicola Walker in anything but that just felt too artificial and constructed. Abandoned it after two episodes. Mind you, I said the same about Derry Girls - and then fell in love with it.

Unbelievable.

Don't be put off by the trailer!

agree - it was fantastic

MrsKypp · 01/07/2022 14:31

The Outlaws season 1 (2 was fun but not as brilliant as series 1)

The Detectorists all 3 series

Ozarks seasons 1-3 (4 less)

Money Heist seasons 1-2 (not the later ones so much)

River (Abi Morgan series)

Bordertown (Finland) series 1, possibly 2 but it got silly by series 3

Featuredcreature · 01/07/2022 14:31

Oh god I have realised I would love to talk about girls for ages haha. Maybe a rewatch is in order, hardly ever hear anyone else mention it.

Magpie Murders on Britbox. Absolutely brilliant! I loved the novel and the TV series was even better.

Sherwood. Absolutely loved it. Also liked The Ice Cream girls.

MuddlerInLaw · 01/07/2022 14:35

Star Trek Discovery is on Prime. (Though not free.) All four seasons excellent and I love the way the story twists and develops.

I have recently rewatched all the Matt Smith + Amy and Rory Dr Who seasons. Just magnificent.

Brendabigbaps · 01/07/2022 14:36

Life after Life - good 4 part adaptation of Kate Atkinson’s book. On iPlayer.

SanFairyAnnie · 01/07/2022 14:39

I've just watched all the seasons of Bosch (and Bosch legacy) a police/detective
series based on Michael Connellys books- via freevee with Amazon. No subscription needed.

I recently watched all of the Amy/Rory seasons too! I think my review is less positive than yours haha. I loved some episodes, others were such a complete narrative mess and made me slightly angry. The whole concept of amy being kept pregnant basically in a box, then giving birth and having her baby taken away made me physically nauseated. It was treated so flippantly that it really enraged me and reminded me why I fucking hate Moffat. Sorry for the rant.
