Yes, that was an excellent episode.
Brilliantly done.
Really felt for Jan.

bizzey · 11/12/2022 01:24

Gosh ..that episode really affected me 😢.

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/12/2022 09:08

@TrashyPanda that is quite a collection of dead people

Jeff was def the best and sure I cried when he died

Behind as always so just seen last weeks and yes can't beleive Paige blamed her

One would think she had a little common sense ......

I made the mistake of watching it immediately after the England France game. There was nothing to lighten my mood, but I agree it was very well done.
Surely Jan is at breaking point now?

pointythings · 11/12/2022 18:29

Excellent episode. It's about time Casualty got political again.

I only just caught up on last week's that I had recorded.
At the beginning the voice over man said that a member of the public had a role in due 100 years of the BBC or something.

Who was it ?

Was it the near dead body they brought in on a trolley at the beginning of the episode ??

No it was a bloke on a chair in a corridor last week. The facebook page shows a clip.

bizzey · 11/12/2022 19:21

Oh thank you .
I didn't know casualty has a FB .
I think I am accidentally following it now 😂

Spidey66 · 12/12/2022 14:27

I loved the episode on Saturday. It was sooo good. I wanted to slap the one who was going to post it all on social media (didn't look like there was anything wrong with her) and the one who called them out to go to the chippy for her (potentially causing the next person's death). And bless the old fella who waited hours with a complex fracture but didn't want to make a fuss.

I called an ambulance last year-I'd fallen from my bike and couldn't get up as my shoulder was badly broken so I couldn't push myself off the ground. The ambulance was going to take 2 hours. Fortunately I was able to get some nice passers by to call my husband and with his and the passers bys help was able to get up and to the hospital. My husband was giving out about the ambulance-I wasn't. I was giving out that due to serious underfunding I was so low down on their priority. Even in severe pain, I couldn't blame them.

Marmitepot · 12/12/2022 20:02

I agree it was a very good episode. And certainly topical with the paramedic strike happening soon.

I hope it will be back on screen a bit more regularly now.

Marmitepot · 12/12/2022 20:03

Does Ffion’s hair annoy anyone else?

the way it goes over her ears (then her hat is perched on top). Literally no one wears their hair like that these days do they? Very reminiscent of Little House on the Prairie.

TrashyPanda · 12/12/2022 22:54

What a great episode.

so moving. It started off slowly, and built up to a devastating end.

I normally don’t like Sah and Teddy, but they were really good and I warmed to them. Huge kudos to Jan.

showing us what the issues are, showing us the pressures they are under, rather than telling us x, y or z lets us become involved with the characters, not lectured to. I think Casualty has become too closely focused on everyone’s personal lives, and this step back for a wider view was a refreshing change that absolutely worked.

easily the best episode for a long, long time.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 13/12/2022 20:40

It was such a good episode that it made me think they’re wasting their money on scriptwriters - the improvised lines were far better and more authentic than anything they’ve written recently!

MadisonAvenue · 18/12/2022 20:16

So fed up of the lack of episodes, we didn’t have anything for weeks and then had two episodes but nothing again last night and nothing for the next two Saturdays either due to them being Christmas Eve and NYE.
It’s so difficult to remember the storylines.

pointythings · 18/12/2022 20:23

@MadisonAvenue I wonder whether this is their way of quietly killing it off - I imagine the powers that be don't much like the current crop of storylines.

purpleme12 · 18/12/2022 20:41

Oh right didn't know it would be such a huge gap again.
There used to be a massive Christmas episode!

No Christmas episode?? Why does the BBC treat it like it's disposable? It gets bumped for any old thing.

Bagpuss2022 · 19/12/2022 02:41

This is ridiculous I have watched this for years from being a child I’m now 40 they bump it no Christmas episode

Optimist1 · 19/12/2022 07:39

When they axed Holby City they implied that two weekly hospital dramas exceeded modern viewing requirements and they'd decided to focus on just one. Ha! It's almost as though they're politicians ...

Even when it’s on it doesn’t seem to have a regular timeslot.

TrashyPanda · 19/12/2022 15:20

It’s annoying.

is it dying a slow death? Maybe they should put it out of its misery?

watching Classic Casualty, I think the downhill slide started when Connie came in and Zoe and Dixie left. Connies character was reduced to a simpering mess who went weak at the knees whenever she saw Jacob and didn’t notice her daughter was a manipulative psycho. Nothing like her Holby persona.

at the same time, Charlie was made into a Saint, the most perfect nurse ever and was actually described as “the beating heart of the ED”. Then they brought back Duffy, whose already limited acting went rapidly down the drain when the most awful SL of all time was introduced: Charlie and Duffy attempt to display sexual attraction. So uncomfortable to watch. It’s like a brother and sister snogging.

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/12/2022 16:11

That was a good episode

poor Jan. Assume they died. Was on phone last few mins

SweetestThing · 21/12/2022 10:07

I had another dream about Dylan last night. He had a little kitten and we were obsessing over its little pink toe pads and trying to introduce the kitten to Dervla and my dog. It was a sweet little dream and he was very affectionate, so not a filthy dream, like my last one.

I really should stop watching classic Casualty episodes - it's obviously influencing my dreams!

The one she'd knocked over didn't die. Dylan told her at the end

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/12/2022 14:54

Ah thanks @purpleme12
