He had the accent last week too, which is the first time it leapt out at me. I do think he's probably always had it to some degree as the actor is actually from Bristol (I googled!)

VampireCat · 09/10/2022 16:38

Charlotte’s school need reporting to ofsted for safeguarding breeches- why would you let a random wander in and talk to a young child alone?!

Also don’t get why robin has been allowed to start ivf at her bmi and why they aren’t just using the turkey baster method? Surely they’d have to pay for the ivf privately for a start so surely you’d try the cheap method first?

Completely agree about the Turkey blaster method - that’s the huge flaw in this storyline.

Why is she pumping herself full of drugs when she’s perfectly capable of getting pregnant as is demonstrated by Charlotte and her accidental pregnancy a few months ago?

purpleme12 · 09/10/2022 18:39

Isn't she doing IVF because she wouldn't be the mum

SoupDragon · 09/10/2022 18:40

No, the plan was that she would be the biological mother

SoupDragon · 09/10/2022 18:42

I suppose the answer is that she's doing IVF so they could have this twist to the storyline 😂

purpleme12 · 09/10/2022 18:45

Oh right I thought she was just going to carry the baby.

Not that she's going to do it anymore

Rainbowcat99 · 09/10/2022 19:10

Well quite, in fact wasn't Charlotte an accidental pregnancy too? So she's clearly fertile. It's a bit odd that they went straight for IVF 🤷🏽‍♀️

This seems mostly likely. All tied in with the reason for the stickers on Paul's face, Adi's stronger accent and Ethan's lost glasses.

All caused by a strange phenomenon that's just around (bit like Stephen King's mist). Also, it seems, the cause of a collective hallucination in the staff that Charlie is still there "working". (Doesn't affect patients, hence why he doesn't treat them.)

Brilliant theory!

Charlie just totters around, saying the odd word, refusing to look at people (no change there then) and does sweet FA.

so just weeks after the second fatal school shooting in Holby, we have a school that just lets folk walk right in. Really?? What world do the writers live in?

loved how quickly Robyn went from needing cpr to sitting up in bed and chatting away as if nothing had happened.

unvillage · 10/10/2022 17:10

I figured that since Paul clearly has a relationship with Charlotte, he might've done the school run a few times for Robyn so they knew who he was.

TrashyPanda · 10/10/2022 23:06

he still shouldn’t have been able to just wander in though.
funny how Charlotte was sitting out in the hallway all by herself, without a teacher in sight.
and of course Paul was able to film the play.

seems like Holby in 30 years behind safeguarding.
but then Dunblane never happened, did it?

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 11/10/2022 07:08

The filming of the play was ridiculous. That is just simply not permitted these days.

purpleme12 · 11/10/2022 07:41

It definitely is permitted at our school!

SoupDragon · 11/10/2022 07:45

Yes, it depends on the school. Ours let you but said you were not allowed to put the photos/videos on social media.

WhatICallMyUsername · 11/10/2022 08:23

I have just completed the forms for DS2 to start pre school and one of those was asking if you gave permission for your child to be photographed/filmed and if you said no they would have to say no to everyone!

It was worded to very much put guilt and pressure on parents to say yes which I thought was unfair on those who have a genuine reason for their child not to be!

CorporateBull · 11/10/2022 08:48

We can film anything but, yes, no social media.

Getting into the school though is a locked gate with reception guarding it.

I assume Charlie now only does a day on this a month and they film his little scenes for each episode!

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 11/10/2022 19:50

So in Casualty-land a random bloke would be able to gain access to the school, sit in the audience and film the children performing without anyone once challenging him at any stage?!? Good grief!

Am interested to know how schools which permit it but say no social media enforce that…

TrashyPanda · 12/10/2022 14:42

Plus he spent time with a child, on school premises without any adult present.

The school might know him as a family friend - but there’s no way he should have been able to walk in unchallenged or to spend time alone with Charlotte. Why wasn’t she with the rest of her class? If Paul could walk in so easily, then surely that means she (or any other child)could have easily walked out of school and not been missed.

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/10/2022 13:42
