She does have a. Very. Distinctive style of. Acting.

hernamewasrio · 07/04/2022 18:08

@hungrymutha in that very breathy delivery? 🤣

@JanisMoplin all I've done is think about me stumbling round in heels - I'd love to wear heels again in the city but like you I'd be sweating bullets just getting out of the tube station! No woman surely wears heels like Hannah all day!?

sophienelisse · 07/04/2022 18:30

I was supposed to be saving this for Sunday but DH is away. Dd is staying in my mums so I have caved!

Am on the first one now.

😂😂

Nicola Walker is just Nicola Walker in everything she's done.

sophienelisse · 07/04/2022 18:46

Omfg. Am sobbing. James. I was not expecting that at all.

Sad
MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 07/04/2022 18:46

@Supersee

Nicola Walker is just Nicola Walker in everything she's done.
I didn't find her convincing as a lawyer at all, she is very dithery in this.
Ithinkitsadoughnut · 07/04/2022 18:56

I really enjoyed the series. The clothes, the houses and most of the acting. Feel like it's run it's course now as the ending went a bit too syrupy for me. I liked that you don't see if Hannah (I love Nichola Walker) got back with Christie. I liked that it wasn't relevant as you could see she would be happy and fine whatever. Nathan just did what I would have expected, getting dragged along as a victim of circumstance - that he caused!
Whoever said upthread, that Kate and Christie were too humourless, was spot on. Neither relationship would ever last.

Noclosure · 07/04/2022 19:01

The fashion and the houses is the best thing about this show. I'm hooked on it.

Cried when James died, so sad for Rose so early into their life together.

I think the dynamic between her and the vicar, because they had that kiss before her wedding is sort of saying that when someone is so broken and grieving they may be open to relationships with people who are not ideal because of their vulnerabilities.

I think the vicar likes her but knows it isn't really appropriate to make a move. I don't think Rose knows what she wants.

I love Hannah's character. I think she's v strong and yes NW breathy full stop sentences can be annoying but I'd like to be friends with Hannah. You can depend on her.

She was RIGHT to divorce Nathan, the rat. She's too good for him and was very classy the way they got divorced. Even if there's still love there, he's having a baby with someone else, why should she compete with that.

I think Christie will come running from New York and move back for her and they will have a relationship in London. Living separately but happily ever after.

sophienelisse · 07/04/2022 19:19

Oh ffs, now Lennie is dying. I'm a mess now.

sophienelisse · 07/04/2022 20:33

So I'm a bit late catching on to this.

Nina is seeing Tyler. Who is with that fella. Who he came over from New York for. The actual big boss?

Is that right?

KillingMeDeftly · 07/04/2022 20:37

@sophienelisse That's right.

sophienelisse · 07/04/2022 21:11

Is Hannah pregnant!

foxlover47 · 07/04/2022 22:22

@sophienelisse no , Hannah isn't pregnant

StrawberryPot · 07/04/2022 23:41

She was RIGHT to divorce Nathan, the rat. She's too good for him

Wow! But Hannah blew their marriage apart by having an affair. Didn't worry about the consequences or the impact on her family. Nathan didn't sleep with anyone until after the split!

dontblameme · 07/04/2022 23:43

Loved it. Love NW in anything.

When Rose listened to James' heart in the recipient's chest Sad

Ilostit · 07/04/2022 23:51

The family law firm is totally unrealistic! It’s all just done so wrong all of it!! Plus I really don’t know a Family law firm with that many Partners in Central London with enough private clients to have those swanky offices! And no one collects post like that anymore! Also no chance you sit on a sofa and discuss private matters! So indiscreet

Also like Rose my friend suddenly lost her husband. The writing was terrible my friend was unconsolable bereft for months with grief!! Rose’a character is totally unrealistic

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 08/04/2022 00:00

Fab houses & clothes. I'm soppy so had a little tear at Ronnie's wedding speech.
Not as good as the other series but I still binged it in 2 nights.

Am I the only one who finds Nathan a bit wet??? I know Stephen Mangan is borderline national treasure but in thisIn writing nice guy they've written doormat with puppy dog mopey face.

dontblameme · 08/04/2022 00:19

Oh forgot to mention my favourite bit was when Kate found N & H in the campervan!

@ilostit I thought Rose was brilliantly written and played. Everyone deals with grief differently but I thought it was very well done.

gracedentssketty · 08/04/2022 15:24

@StrawberryPot but wasn’t his name on the books of some sort of escort/sex agency which came out as part of one of the cases they were involved in?

airrrrAIRRRRiELLLL · 08/04/2022 15:49

Just watched the lot. Disappointing. Far too many boring, boring monologues and that boring, boring podcast and Kate wittering on about narratives aaaargh! Surely all we want to see is romance, London property for the rich, nice clothes and a bit of humour and wackiness thrown in? Glad Ruth and Ronnie made it, Nathan will be bored silly by Kate after a few months, Christie far too selfish and has never been able to understand Hannah's family come first. Don't know why Nathan and Hannah didn't get back together, ok the baby was a bit of a problem but Nathan said he forgave Hannah for the pre-wedding night episode and that was what was left hanging at the end of series 2. So the 'will they get back together' was strung out for 6 episodes and in each one there was hope. Tedious!

TitsInAbsentia · 08/04/2022 16:46

Binged all three series in erm....three days! I may have blubbed in various places. I really enjoyed it, not sure why I didn't watch it before.

As much as I'd have liked a happily ever after for Hannah and Nathan there was no going back with all the crap floating under their bridges, always the risk of things being thrown back at you in times of disagreement. Never liked Kate - was it deliberate putting her in frumpy frilly jumper type things? And Christie would never have made it as a parent, way too self centred.

I can't understand why no-one went to arrest Tyler, unless they've put something out so he gets arrested at the airport, otherwise what a waste of time finding out who he was. I did feel for Zander, but also not quite sure how he could stand having Nina around knowing she'd been bumping uglies with Tyler.

Having seen some of the clothes on this programme (which I love!) I can understand why there's no more series planned - I mean clothing budget?! I think the pleated trench Hannah had on was about £500! also wondering how they look so glam all the time, I realise that's probably because they're not sitting around wondering whether to wash their hair today...that's just me Grin

StrawberryPot · 08/04/2022 17:39

@gracedentssketty - oh gosh I think you're right. I'd completely forgotten about that. He IS a rat then!

gracedentssketty · 08/04/2022 17:53

@StrawberryPot yes, he is but I guess Hannah is just as bad given christie

I’m sad it’s finished though - can’t stand Kate

I wonder if they didn’t get Tyler arrested as if it came out that he had pulled the wool over the eyes of 2 partners of a law firm would it damage their reputations? That said, Ruth did say it was “in the hands of the police now”.

I definitely would’ve liked to see him get stopped at Heathrow though!

YetAnotherNam · 08/04/2022 18:26

It wasn’t Zander that was going to serve Tyler the divorce papers, it was Christie once they had the photographic evidence to prove it was him that he was looking for. He in fact had that talk with Nathan to arrange it all and serve the papers that same night, so I was surprised as the episode went on, that they didn’t track him that evening and serve the divorce papers from the NU guy he defrauded.

I also think that Zander didn’t say anything to Nina because he didn’t actually know they were buy a flat together, so he didn’t necessarily think he was trying to get money out of her too.

It was also my assumption that he would be detained at the airport.

I didn’t like the Rose and the vicar story. I felt like he was somehow preying on someone vulnerable.

Just read that they filmed another ending and they may show it eventually, but I feel if this is what the writer chose, I’m happy to accept it as it is.
