Because I have some questions!

OP posts:
JanisMoplin · 06/04/2022 20:52

Yes I need to discuss! Things I did not like
Leni and Felix plot was preposterous
Rose is going to end up marrying that vicar and raising his daughters just for something to do
Honestly Christie appears to be really stupid if he thinks Hannah would leave her kids to go to NYC
Nathan appears to actively dislike Kate
Things I did like
Nicola Walker's marvellous acting
Fab wardrobes
Meera Syal popping up again
The house porn

It kind of wrapped up but I wasn't convinced Nathan and Kate were in love. Nathan also never replied back when Kate said she loved him. He did say he loved Hannah though. So to me that it was left hanging in the air, as to who did Nathan and Hannah really loved and wanted to be with.

I agree that they were both 'broken' and that there was too much infidelity to just carry on together in the marriage, but in time I think they could reconcile.

Inkanta · 06/04/2022 21:17

It's also true (it's been said) that neither Christie or Kate had any humour. Hannah couldn't have gone to live in New York, taking 'long walks' every day and without her kids and no belly laughs.

Yes, Christie's vision of their life together sounded really boringly intense. Why couldn't he have got a job in London?
motherofawhirlwind · 06/04/2022 21:30

Loved Hannah's trench coat.

And I had all the same questions as above, plus Nina etc got back to the flat within a reasonable time of Tyler leaving, certainly same day, probably within hours. Police couldn't have got him stopped at the airport?

KillingMeDeftly · 06/04/2022 21:34

Am I the only one who liked Christie? I think he really did love Hannah and kind of wish it had ended with her doorbell ringing to find him on the front steps!

And I always picture Ruth as MN regular Xenia Grin

Inkanta · 06/04/2022 21:37

Yes I'm sure Christie could have got a job in London if they really wanted to be together. What's so good about New York.

But I suspect he had no interest in her kids - he's a high maintenance intense guy and a bit creepy.

Just finished it all. Have watched previous series but had to look stuff up. First can't believe how Nina was happy enough to stuff zanders life when she thought she was getting what she wants. Though I guess she opened up to Melanie (who redeemed herself in that scene) and seemed quite damaged and settling for bad boys all her life. Why would Kate accept 2nd best with Nathan. I'm sure he and Hannah would have tried again given proper conversations rather than speaking in riddles 🤣 But I guess he did sort of love Kate but a lifetime with Hannah can't compare. Think that will do for now 🤣 Oh one more thing, how long had James been dead by time of the wedding? His flowers seemed quite fresh on the grave but she seemed to be gearing up for a relationship with the vicar, though he was super adorable and a ready made family for her. I love her character the most out of all of them x

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 06/04/2022 22:00

I really liked Rose's rain coat.

That's about all I enjoyed of the series Grin

I loved all of Roses clothes 🥰 Shame I could never carry them off 🤣
MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 06/04/2022 22:05

Me neither but in my next life I want to be able to wear dungerees and flares.

Madeintowerhamlets · 06/04/2022 22:30

I haven’t quite finished it all but I don’t mind spoilers. I agree the Leni & Felix story was ridiculous. I liked Lily Cole’s cameo! I really like Rose’s character but I didn’t like how she was gearing up for a relationship with the vicar. I felt like it was a bit lazy on the writers part that they killed off one minority character & then were substituting him with another. Also didn’t Rose try & kiss the vicar when she was having cold feet about James before their wedding?

Madeintowerhamlets · 06/04/2022 22:32

Also I hate that they killed off James!

Rose put her hand on the vicar's cock before her wedding:) She is my least fave character, but I think she deserves better than cleaning up after the vicar and his brood.
KillingMeDeftly · 06/04/2022 23:03

What was Rose's job? Was she a teacher? I can't remember if that was ever established but whatever it was it enabled her and "brain on a bike" James to have a fairly nice London house.

Aquarius1234 · 06/04/2022 23:03

Yes I didn't buy that the Vicar and Rose would conveniently get into a relationship..
Friends fair enough. Lazy writing far too soon to even hint st that.

Aquarius1234 · 06/04/2022 23:04

I didn't think they had romance chemistry. He was just being too nice .

Aquarius1234 · 06/04/2022 23:10

Rose mainly interacting with the Vicar again was a bit boring. Why not a new character even If it was the last series...
They could have done better storyline with the actress as she's really good.

hernamewasrio · 06/04/2022 23:11

The podcast was so naff! Really disappointed with this series but I will marry Nathan 🤣

StrawberryPot · 06/04/2022 23:34

Agree with so many comments above. Especially that the podcast was naff! Also got a bit too sickly preachy towards the end.

Felt very sad that Nathan and Hannah didn't stay together - what hope for the rest of us when two people so obviously love each other but can't stay together!

Kate was needy and irritating. I was a bit puzzled when Hannah asked Nathan how he would feel if Kate wasn't in his life. His response was 'sad' which I interpreted as rather luke warm (not 'very sad' or 'devastated' etc). But Hannah's 'you have your answer then' response suggested she thought it meant he had to stick with Kate.

Christy was creepy and unattractive. And yes, why would he expect Hannah to leave her kids - or even drag them to New York.

Also hate that they killed James off.

Madeintowerhamlets · 06/04/2022 23:44

@JanisMoplin, thank you! Yes I remember now 😂.
Just thought of another thing- the fact that the vicar’s wife died of breast cancer too. It just all seems very convenient in terms of them lining something up between them.
I wish Nathan hadn’t got his girlfriend pregnant but like pp said maybe too much has happened now for he & Hannah to give it another go. Agree about Christie being humourless, I was never very invested in the storyline between he & Hannah. I like the chemistry between Nathan & Hannah though.

veevee04 · 06/04/2022 23:52

I found it laughable that Hannah was ok with Nathan's pregnant GF coming round and playing happy families at the end. I found it ridiculous and I felt like Hannah didn't get her happy ending , I expected Christie to ring the door bell at the end but it didn't happen.

veevee04 · 06/04/2022 23:54

Very convenient Kate a 40 year old woman got pregnant very quickly in a new relationship to a separated man.

Xmasbaby11 · 07/04/2022 00:16

I was pleased James got killed off as he was the most annoying character. Rose was a lot less annoying once widowed. Hate her dress sense but everyone else looked great!

The stories were pretty ridiculous but the acting was so good, it didn't matter and I still enjoyed it. I agree Hannah and Nathan had much more fun together than with Kate and Christy. Nathan and Kate had no chemistry. As if Hannah would ever leave her kids, sisters and mum in London. I feel like Christy didn't know her at all, and also would have met someone else by now.

foxlover47 · 07/04/2022 09:04

For a clever woman Kate seemed to accept that Nathan was still loving Hannah , why she fell pregnant to a man with that many complications I can't understand . I thought he was on the rebound and he still wanted Hannah.
Do you think Christie stayed in New York then ? Because his version of him and Hannah wasn't with the kids and family was it!
As for Nina I couldn't feel sorry for her I did feel sorry for Zander , finding out about his sister and having Tyler be a fraud too
