I really didn't feel sorry for Pen. I felt she'd become quite unlikable.

I totally 'warmed' to Anthony 😵‍💫 and although I missed the Duke I was far more invested in this two than Daphne and the Duke.

Perfect escapism.

I feel like Eloise won’t want anyone to know. Maybe she’ll calm down and want Pen to start using her words for feminism?

I also like how the brigertons and the Queen don't let them marry for duty despite the cost to them.

Even at the beginning I thought ermmm no Anthony you are just a dick. BUT I also somehow warmed to him and felt the heat even more!

For some reason I find the Queen hilarious.

In the book Anthony and Kate marry much earlier, halfway or so through the book. The re- jigging of their wedding to the end rather reduced the shagging opportunities without them going at it repeatedly pre marriage. I can see why they did what they did though.

Colin and Eloise's stories overlap in terms of timing, it will be interesting to see how that plays out.

I can’t decide if I should read the books. I love watching it as fluff but are the books a bit much?

I wonder if I’ll enjoy the show as much if I read them. But I also don’t want to wait a year for anything.

I’m not sure. I read an article where they wouldn’t confirm and said they’d be creative. It’s got to be Benedict or Colin right? I feel like they should do Benedict to drag out Colin and Penelope a little longer. Also Penelope is probably furious with him all next season after he denied courting her.

I liked the books, they're not great literature but I enjoyed them! Like a sort of regency Jilly Cooper!

Penelope and Eloise don't fall out on the books, Lady Whistledown's identity is not revealed until book 4. I'm really interested in whether they stick with Eloise's story or go a different way.

I feel in a way there’s no point reading them as they’ll be so different.

Why was Colin so unpleasant about Penelope when he was with his friends?

I’ve been thinking about watching this with dd, but am hesitating because of the sex scenes. How much is shown and are they frequent?

Eloise end up with Sir Crane, it's all a bit of a scandal because they get together via letter and the she runs away to be with him. In the book Marina dies and leaves him a widower.

@Ohyesiam the sex scenes are nowhere near as plentiful or as explicit as in S1, but there area few scenes where the allusions to sexual desire are very intense. I don't know that I could watch this alongside anyone else, let alone a DD. I would find it awkward.

Finished today and have read the first two books.

Preferred s2 and book 2. I loved Anthony since the duel. I have a penchant for a duelling gentleman.

I thought the chemistry was off the charts and whilst I love a good sex scene I thought it was OTT in S1.
