Finally done woohoo!

Ooh I quite liked it. I actually wanted to Anthony in the end, ahem. Blush

I actually felt really sorry for Pen and omg Colin how could you!

And Eloise going through all her stuff! Shock

@Sunshinegirl82 do you think they'll stick to this? I noticed Sir Crane is very good looking, too, so I presume they will, hence them lining up another fanciable actor for the role.

I remember watching S1 and being struck by how many good looking actors there were. Do you remember the debauched painter Benedict was mates with? He was yummy.

ouch321 · 29/03/2022 22:13

One thing I noticed is that they referenced the "Bridgerton annual hearts and flowers ball" but I don't recall this last season; they only hosted Daphnes engagement or wedding do.
And I dont remeber any references to the family going off to their country house and playing croquet.

Sunshinegirl82 · 29/03/2022 22:13

@PrinzessinCressida

I think there's a fair chance they'll stick with it otherwise I'm not sure there was much need for Marina and her husband to appear in Season 2. It was just enough to keep them in people's minds.

PrinzessinCressida · 29/03/2022 22:20

@Sunshinegirl82 aha! Good point, I think you're right.

PrinzessinCressida · 29/03/2022 22:21

@StColumbofNavron that article was so interesting, thank you. I'm not a Bollywood expert and had not spotted a lot of this stuff on the show.

Sunshinegirl82 · 29/03/2022 22:44

It's going to be a long wait for season 3!

If they do follow Benedict's story next, quite a chunk of it takes place away from everyone else at Benedict's cottage in the country so it will be interesting to see if they follow that. We should get a hint at least from the casting of the leading lady, the casting of Kate and Edwina was published quite early on I think?

It did feel as though they were teeing up for something to happen between Colin and Penelope in this season though, I wonder if they'll just let it simmer in the background for season 3.

Notonthestairs · 29/03/2022 22:50

That's a great article @StColumbofNavron I look forward to spotting the elements highlighted when I re-watch (probably this week!)

PrinzessinCressida · 29/03/2022 22:53

We could do with some info soon! I get the sense that appreciation for S2 is a bit of a slow burner, like the show itself, so perhaps they'll wait until it's reached full potential and starts waning to feed us some scrap about next season.

liquidrevolution · 29/03/2022 22:59

Its amazing that there is very little of the rest of the family stories in the books. Their stories are their own books.

Ive read most if them. Hyacinths is my favourite followed by francescas. I like benedicts as well but not the sinister sexual harrassing of sophie as he pesters her to be his mistress.

Ther is a lot they have added in and added characters like sir crane too early. Jack does not exist and lady featherington rarely features.

I didnt like this series tbh. They strung it out and i didnt like the whole edwina wedding thing.

liquidrevolution · 29/03/2022 23:02

Im not sure how the next series will pan out as the timeline would be that benedict has already met his girl as theres a few years before they meet again.

Maxiedog123 · 30/03/2022 04:40

It seemed more to me that they were setting up Benedict as being ready to move on with the next stage of his life.
Colin and Penelope both need time to grow up more first.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 30/03/2022 04:47

I enjoyed the books, not sure how colins storyline is going to go now they've changed what's happening with Eloise and Pen though.

Saying that the crane children are much older in the books so quite a few years will have passed

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 30/03/2022 04:48

By the time they get to Eloises story

BiscuitLover3678 · 30/03/2022 07:48

@Sunshinegirl82

Eloise end up with Sir Crane, it's all a bit of a scandal because they get together via letter and the she runs away to be with him. In the book Marina dies and leaves him a widower.
What? Woah!!!!

I find Benedict a bit characterless. Colin is only slightly better.

Selma22 · 30/03/2022 08:43

Benedicts story is next.He is sort of blah in the books as well before his 'book' where he meets Sophie.
Really feeling sorry for Penelope. She has been so trampled on by society ,her family and the man she loved that she is clearly just lashing out

TottersBlankly · 30/03/2022 08:45

Speculation on S3:

Selma22 · 30/03/2022 08:48

For me I'm waiting on Penelope an Colin. He is meant to go away, come back and find her all changed (makeover ?)

Notonthestairs · 30/03/2022 09:02

I'd quite like it if Edwina could pop in on the next season (escorted by the prince!) I was pleased that they gave Edwina a decent ending - she's evolved. I think the awful Sheffield grandparents should get a cameo too (over invested!)

Lemonlemon88 · 30/03/2022 09:06

I think series 3 will be a mixture of benedict/colin/eloise romances all together , not a single romance again. Francesca's book is great but she has hardly been featured, eloise's is awful and i suspect it will be very different in the show.

HermioneKipper · 30/03/2022 09:10

Cor Anthony! I LOVED this series. Better than the first I think. Kate was just fabulous, all fiesty and take no nonsense.

Anthony was obviously ridiculous with his antics but my god it all paid off in the end!

Just dreamy. Wish there had been their wedding and a bit more fluff afterwards though

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 30/03/2022 09:16

Penelope loses 2 stone in the books.

I don't think Marina features in the books like she does in the program. Eloise marries sir crane but Marina died years before.

BiscuitLover3678 · 30/03/2022 09:32

They said they would focus on one per series and aim to do all 8.

What is Francesca supposed to be like?

I think she will have a side plot with the prince.

Anthony and Kate will have to be around sometimes as they live in the Bridgerton house, but probably always out and about. Both Sharma sisters have signed on I think to season 3.

Marina in the book is depressed and takes her own life after years of misery. She was just a sad person who dies not feature in the stories at all until after she is dead.and not related to the fetheringtons at all but a distant bridgerton cousin. Eloise sends her condolences to sir phillip and a correspondence starts from there.
