Bridgerton Series 2 starts Friday 25 - Contains spoilers

It's back. I struggled to get in to series 1 at first, but then I got hooked. I am so ready for this escapist drama.

I just finished it today! I wasn't too keen at first, but as pp have said - the slow burn did the trick and by the end I was beaming at the outcome no spoiler. The Duke was hot, however I find Anthony even hotter! Jonathan Bailey has played the role SO well - and as a South Asian person it's most exhilarating to see brown girl representation on screen! Kate & Edwina's outfits were stunning and Simone Ashley has some amazing bone structure - very striking face. It picked up pace in the last few episodes and although I did find myself wanting the story to hurry along, I have rather enjoyed it!

Are the books any good?
No , they are very shallow and just as unrealistic as the show but the show is certainly much nicer than the books!
I read up to book 3 , and stopped, I hope they change the storyline for Benedict too, he is my favourite .

A much more accurate regency book series is the knight series , by Gaelen foley, Lord of fire is so so good !

They are definitely fluff, @queenofarles - but still entertaining. I treat them like literary candy floss - fun but you can’t have too much.

I’ve got all the Jane Austen novels on my kindle, for when I need something more substantial.

Eloise is very selfish, she uses Pen.

Oh I agree not everything needs to be accurate and true to Regency times.
But really by the third book it felt very childish with all the silly banter between the siblings.

Couldn't get into S1 but really enjoyed this one. Best character is the Queen, who I would watch an entire series of her just lolling around on a chaise longue.

Can't stand Eloise though. She's super annoying and I can't work out if it's the character or how the actress plays her. In fact, most of the Bridgerton women are irritating. The Featherington's are a much more interesting family.

Thanks for the book info. I’m not going to bother with 1 and 2 and am going to have a crack at number 3. I can guarantee I’ll like them as I like any old cheesy, non serious shit!

I'm enjoying it. Perfect chewing gum for the eyes. I think that there is plenty of chemistry.

Watched the first four episodes and am loving it so far. I think Kate and Anthony have fantastic chemistry, she is absolutely stunning and I love the sparring between them. Much prefer it without all the sex as well. Daphne is and always was dull and I couldn't stand whatshisname who everyone loved in series 1. Bit weird that they have made Edwina actually want to marry the Viscount though unlike in the book, can't really see how they can resolve that one.

Also Eloise is painful to watch. Really weird mannerisms. Shame as she should be a cool character but she is basically the younger Downton sister only not very good.

I’d be interested to hear what you think rewatching series 1 so close to it!

Haven’t read the whole thread but I’m at the end of Episode 3 and my thoughts so far are this…

1. Why does Edwina get introduced as “Miss Edwina Sharma” but Kate is just “Miss Sharma” ??

2. Anthony is not as cute in this series as I remember him to be.

3. It’s nice to see some background to the Bridgerton family, although the actor they cast as Anthony’s father could have done with being at least 10 years older

4. Eloise’s obsession with Lady Worthington is so tired. It was overdone last series never mind bringing it into this one. Although I do love Eloise’s character.

5. I agree that Colin appears to have enjoyed the Greek Cuisine a bit too much.

6. The Chemistry between Simon and Daphne was way, way, way better than between Kate and Anthony.

7. I think Daphne knows that Anthony’s heart burns for Kate and not Edwina.

8. The actress who plays Kate is really, really bad. She’s so wooden, stiff and unbelievable as an actual person.

9. Benedict loves gorgeous! I hope he does turn out to be gay just to shake things up!!

Because Kate is the eldest. I don't know the reason for it, but it's the same in Austen. Jane Bennett is always introduced as Miss Bennett while the rest get Miss Elizabeth Bennett, Miss Mary Bennett etc.

Yeah, it was definitely the convention of the day that only the eldest sister was "Miss X"

The end of episode 3 was hilarious!
