Jason’s gaydar was bang on today 😄

BeggyMitchell · 28/04/2023 18:10

Mr Woo is totally new to me 😂. I think my viewing was intermittent at best, at the time.

whomoon · 30/04/2023 17:05

Has anyone noticed the lilies that Peter bought Shelley from Lucy’s florist are STILL on the TV fresh as the day they were bought!?
Surely Peter has been seeing Lucy for a few weeks now? They’re pretty good lilies to last that long 😂

Skinnermarink · 30/04/2023 19:12

I don’t get how Simon is Lucy and Peter’s son? Am I being thick? Simon is mixed race?!

thenightsky · 30/04/2023 19:15

I recall threads from 16 years ago saying the same thing Skinnermarink. Tis a mystery. Maybe Peter, or Simon himself, will do a DNA ancestry thing as a future storyline.

whomoon · 30/04/2023 19:16

The actor may be mixed race, but the character is white.
I suspect when the actor auditioned when he was little, because he was so cute and a fantastic actor, they gave him the part regardless what he looked like

eggandonion · 30/04/2023 22:00

Peter is quite Mediterranean in colouring. But Simon looks nothing like either parent.

I remember people questioning it at the time. Really odd that no-ones addressed it

AdoptedBumpkin · 03/05/2023 15:13

Can't help but think that Lucy is a much more interesting catch than Shelley. Peter is still a rat, mind you.

It’s funny how the Richard Hillman storyline is running adjacent to the Stephen storyline in regular Corrie, the Stephen story is such a poor imitation, Brian Capron is utterly brilliant in the role. I feel sorry for Audrey, how many family members have swindled her out of money or tried to convince her she is going mad? Off the top of my head, Her son in law Richard, her two grandchildren Nick and David, Lewis, who then Gail had a fling with, and now the ultimate betrayal, her son Stephen! how much family treachery can one woman take? The only decent man in her life was Alfie.

Skinnermarink · 04/05/2023 09:09

Richard Hillman is an absolutely class act! Really conveys the desperation of him as he tries to cover up one lie after another. A slow burner too. These days in Corrie someone would probably flip from being a perfectly reasonable person one moment into wonton killing.

Guacamole001 · 04/05/2023 16:56

I am really enjoying the Richard Hillman storyline! Gripping.

Julyshewillfly · 04/05/2023 20:25

I am loving the Richard hillman storyline!

When did Corrie get so dire?

Does anyone else really hate Curley?!

Haha, apparently Curley drank constantly on set and before scenes, he admitted it much later in an interview. So it’s interesting watching it knowing that, and thinking that he’s pissed when he’s being cringy on screen!

thenightsky · 04/05/2023 22:38

Why does Richard Hillman hate Audrey so much? There was a scene where he was mumbling to himself about her... 'so you want to cut me out of the pictures eh' with a menacing venomous tone. It was around the time she arranged the photographer and he was actually in the pictures.

I think that comment was after he was hiding in her house and overheard her laughing to Gail saying that it was a shame he had his eyes closed in a lot of the pictures and maybe they'd need to cut him out of them to get a nice one.

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 05/05/2023 08:56

Yeah I don’t think he hates her in general. He just wants her money and is also losing it a bit!

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 05/05/2023 09:36

When did Corrie get so dire?

I hate to say it, but I think Golden Era Corrie ended when Hayley died. Not because of the character’s death (although she was a big loss), but because that’s one of the last times I felt utterly gripped by a storyline - and one where I feel like it made a wider impact than just on hardcore viewers. ITV really plays up the whole “The nation’s favourite street” angle, but that was one of the last times it genuinely felt like even casual viewers would want to know what was happening. It didn’t help that the next big story was Tina’s murder, which they completely screwed up. The contrast did them no favours.

I still feel like we get the odd must-see moment - Aidan’s suicide, Yasmeen stabs Geoff - but the days where a fairly ordinary episode could still be great seem to be gone 🙁

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 05/05/2023 09:50

No, but I’d happily beat Martin to death with a giant marrow. I don’t think I really liked him first time around, but this time I feel genuine venom towards him 😆 He moans when he’s not involved enough with the kids; he moans when he IS expected to be involved… he just moans full stop! And somehow manages to seem wimpish and aggressive at the same time.

Skinnermarink · 05/05/2023 09:56

Ooh we’ve got a lot of hateful Martin to come too haven’t we?! The Katy saga.

LilyAndTheKing · 05/05/2023 10:45

I don't watch current Corrie at all, I think I'd be too confused 🤔
But even though I watched classic back when it was originally broadcast (off and on) I can't understand Richard's plan with making Audrey feel like she's losing her marbles. I mean, what could he gain financially? (It will all become clear I suppose, I don't remember why he's doing this)

OOh. I have no memory of this storyline at all. It will be like new for me. Grin

He could get her to sign power of attorney over to Gail I guess? He already knows she’s set to inherit everything. Or try and stage a ‘poor old forgetful Audrey left the gas on’ situation and finish her off that way.

I totally agree- he's dreadful isn't he? I still can't get over how he expected Gail to feel sorry for him over Rebecca finishing with him. I was quite young when this was on the first time round but I can't remember particularly disliking him- now I think he's absolutely awful!

thenightsky · 05/05/2023 17:12

Only one episode today??
