Is anyone watching? No one I know in real life watches so I have no one to talk about it with- I'm on the current series on TLC when Kody is going all crazy paranoid about Covid

Just to add that Janelle's don was so sweet to little Ari at her party. He would have legitimate grounds to be really jealous of Robyn's children, but was so gracious and lovely and clearly does adore his siblings.
Whatever else is wrong in this family, the women really have all raised great children.

The mum's have raised their DC well. Mykelti, Truely and Ari are a bit annoying . All of the children are kind and loving.

I've loved sister wives from the beginning. So glad found this thread. Just rewatched series 1 and 2 on discovery plus recently wow the contrast to now.

Poor Christine, unhappy for years, jealous of the other wives and generally miserable - and all the time she thought that was her own fault. I'm so pleased that she's kicked Kody out.

Kody was definitely shocked that all his stuff had been packed up, he clearly expected Christine to just put up with his awful behaviour.

I'd be jealous too. She'd just had Truly and had PND and 5 months later he is infatuated with Robyn.

I thought for a while they had the best marriage, they certainly seemed loved up ay one point.

I think Kotex thought she'd just hang around like Meri has. He looked stunned when he discovered all his stuff boxed up

Kodi gets worse with every episode I watch. In Teflon Queen he was horrible to Gabe who is a lovely lad. I wonder if Christine will move back to Utah. She often says she wants to. Nothing to stop her now. Kody in his usual heartless manner casually tells her no more intimacy in this marriage then expects her to share her bed with him. So glad she dumped his stuff in the garage. I think he thought she would be hanging around all begging like Meri. I think he will remove intimacy from Janelle next so he can spend every night with the obedient one.

I'm getting little 3 minute clips on Facebook and it looks like the only one getting any intimacy is Robyn. It makes me wonder why Meri and Janelle are hanging around.
Kody wants to be the man who is obeyed, but he's just coming across as a narcissistic bully.
I've asked DH to sign up for Discovery + as I feel I'm missing out not being able to watch the full episodes.

I don't think so, I think she's in it for the long run and she hopes she and Kody will get back together at some point.

Apparently she's the biggest earner out of all of them. Not that I google or anything

Why do the other wives view Meri as difficult? I didn't see all of the earlier series but when she was talking to Jenelle, it seemed like they didn't approve of Meri not wanting her personal space in the house to ge a thoroughfare for all the other house members. It must have been really hard for her seeing Kody and the other wives having more children when she couldn't.

At one point Meri was as Robyn is now, number one wife and Kody and her were very close and she was the only legal wife, when she gave up that status and got divorced to adopt Robyn's kids that was the begining of the end.

I think the fact it was all over the internet that was the main issue.

I think in a previous season it was said that Robyn's ex husband was abusive towards her.
I don't remember her saying they were polygamous.

Meri also followed all of Kody's rules without any reward (why she and Robyn couldn't get together I don't get - Robyn keeps saying Kody needed to explain to the other wives first but why)?
Robyn has said that she finds having Kody be there full time hard work. I think her nanny is also a tutor as her kids aren't going to school. There was quite a time gap between Kody's marriage to Christine and Robyn so no wonder Kody is still more in to her - plus she is more compliant.
I have always found the wives had a prickly relationship with each other from the start . Considering the wives are supposed to approve, and in some cases find, the next wife they are not very close. Meri was very close to Robyn when she first came along and Christine and Janelle are, but Janelle and Meri have had issues all along and it did seem with the help of the therapist they were working through that. I think Robyn already having kids and the whole divorce/adoption thing must have been super hard to accept.
Kody doesn't seem to understand many of his kids are independent thinking adults - just because they still live at home he feels they must obey him. None of the kids has followed the polygamous lifestyle!
Despite some reports, remember Meri and Kody filed for bankruptcy in the early 2000s and Christine in 2010. Dayton's accident cost mega bucks and Christine's daughter's surgery cost $50k, and she was asking people to buy clothes through her business to help pay.
I think their main source of income is still the show.

Not sure it was at the point that it's on now, Janelle keeps repeating they follow the government rules which doesn't include washing groceries and mail.

Christine's daughter had insurance to pay for the surgery,she mentions in the show that it took ages to find a company, I think one of the reasons they had to fly to New Jersey to get it done. There would be been an excess though. The clothing brand is a MLM so it's a good way to drum up sales

This series, and others like it, have fascinated me for years as I watch in horror at the lifestyles women endure. Spent yesterday reflecting on this thread and browsing as I’m ill with Covid…

Although it is kept very low key on Sister Wives its worth remembering that the Browns are in a polygamous family due to religious beliefs. They need to live like this to gain the highest rank in heaven and they are an eternal family. Those members of the family that are more entrenched in this belief will be more likely to remain trapped.

There are many sub-groups of Mormon fundamentalism, with the Browns trying to show a more acceptable face of it compared the FLDS and Warren Jeffs. Officially they are members of Apostolic United Brethren, which also has a worrying past. Wikipedia (?!) says the Browns were all raised in polygamous families, except Janelle, who’s mum entered a polygamous marriage to Kody’s father! And I think I remember Christine talking about the fear of police raids on her family as a child where the fathers were arrested for polygamy, so she was well indoctrinated, so seeing her escape is amazing. I just hope her move hasn’t been to another polygamous community.

If you have seen the TV series Big Love you will see the worst examples of polygamy in the “compound” where the main male character grew up, and this may be fiction but its based on real-life experiences, so I wonder if Kody’s attitude to his sons is ingrained from the historical way the boys were kicked out to avoid them being competition for the older, more powerful men in gaining more wives?

Love this thread! I watched Sister Wives from the beginning but don't have Sky anymore so rely on Facebook and now this thread

Do any of you remember when Robyn had her first baby and she told Meri that she wanted to be a surrogate for her? And then Kody said no to anymore children to Meri but carried on having them with Robyn! I can't imagine how Meri must have felt seeing Robyn produce more babies.

Awful man.
