New 4 part drama starting tomorrow night

Jane and Emma move into a rental that is an opportunity of a lifetime

It’s is a luxury Ultra minimalist pad

As long as they answer ledwards - the landlords strange questions and follows the rules that he sets ……….

Remember - if it is too good to be true then it probably is

The exterior of the house reminds me of one those horrific Grand Designs monstrosities

All these bbc dramas have massive, achingly contemporary houses in them these days

And TV houses, not just on the BBC but in general, are usually way more expensive than the characters would be able to afford in RL.
AnyFucker · 20/12/2021 14:02

So true. These people don’t seem to work, work in non-jobs or have very ordinary employment eg. teaching, working in an art shop or summat and yet can afford these palaces

SoupDragon · 20/12/2021 14:14

In this case that's the point isn't it - they wouldn't be able to afford the rent without it being drastically reduced because of the rules.

IcedPurple · 20/12/2021 14:19

In this case yes. But I've seen so many dramas where the characters live in houses well beyond their means.

Like in that BBC drama 'The Pact' last summer. The main couple were living in this fab modern home that they'd never have been able to afford as a police man and an assembly line worker. I know it was small town Wales, so not exactly London prices, but still.

SoupDragon · 20/12/2021 14:20

Eastenders is a prime example!

AnyFucker · 20/12/2021 15:15

In this case, yes. Generally, in tv land folk live in properties waaaaay beyond their means. Or squash 4 families into 2 up, 2 down houses (I am looking at you Corry)

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/12/2021 16:08

wrote out a long reply last night and didnt bloody send

grrrrrrrrrrrr

i enjoyed it but regulars know blondes is easily pleased with tv drama :)

i assumed the single girl had died, so was surprised to find out it was the couple/chantelle - sorry bad with names

No spoilers but I'm watching it on iPlayer as I got quite into the first episode
I just hope it isn't like all the ones recently that have had rubbish endings!

IcedPurple · 20/12/2021 22:02

Tonight's episode was a lot better. Looking forward to tomorrow's.

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/12/2021 22:06

I thought a little slow tonight then pace picked up

I thought Edward killed her as was ‘imperfect’ after being raped

He liked perfection remember 🥲🙀

Sad that looks like her rapist is about to get off

Glad therapist warned Jane about Emma

Did the shower not work as she hadn’t answered the questions

Why was Emma’s stuff hidden in the computer room

We need to know how his wife and Child died

Roll on tomorrow’s episode

Clawdy · 20/12/2021 22:18

It was still very slow moving tonight. And so many dark, unlit scenes I was getting the two girls mixed up towards the end.

IcedPurple · 20/12/2021 22:31

Yes, still a little slow. I reckon it's another example of a TV series being dragged out more than the plot allows. 3 rather than 4 episodes might have been a better idea.

GreenLunchBox · 20/12/2021 22:34

Good ending!
It was so creepy tonight. I was on edge through out.
The way Edward looked at Jane when she was in bed!😱

SoupDragon · 20/12/2021 22:39

I like the pace - I don't think it's too slow. I find it preferable to when they slam you with one thing after another. This seems carefully crafted.

Why did the door to the service area open. Given the security measures, I find it hard to believe it was an accident. The fact that Emma serms to have been sleeping there implies that there's no surveillance in there though... but he'd have seen her go in 🤔

The fact that they are difficult to tell apart in the dark is probably deliberately done,

SoupDragon · 20/12/2021 22:39

Edward is properly disturbing!

ThePlumVan · 20/12/2021 22:48

I feel like I’m watching Joey’s sisters Confused

Gloriagayn · 20/12/2021 23:16

Watchable nonsense

NMC2022 · 21/12/2021 00:22

I binged the lot GrinBlush
Interested to see what people think of it, there has been some proper rubbish recently where it's either so slow or decent and then the final episode is awful

Twitchynose · 21/12/2021 07:32

Second episode is definitely better than the first. I know part of the plot is that the women look alike, but it’s pigging confusing when you also have face blindness. Didn’t twig who the bloke was leaving the flowers for ages too!
I googled the Japanese thing he mentioned about burying the bodies on site, it’s not just burying a “body”.
The women are both very vulnerable having been through traumatic events, did find myself thing, if only they’d asked Mumsnet about the situation, they’d have never got involved it in!
Wondering about Emma’s death - with the shower asking questions - you saw the first time, the woman (sorry, don’t know which one it was!) picking both agree and disagree, the second one she seemed to just hit agree each time without the reading the question for speed so wondering if that had an significance?

butterpuffed · 21/12/2021 08:18

I think she was hitting 'Agree' one after the other because she was getting frustrated with the constant questioning . Was the shower not working because she hadn't answered them beforehand ?

Really enjoying this , I don't find it slow.

SoupDragon · 21/12/2021 08:21

Jane answered the questions properly. I think Emma was just stressed about the court case when she just stabbed at "agree". Maybe it was just to show the difference in their mental states? Jane is very "together" (perhaps too much) whereas Emma is unravelling.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/12/2021 15:59

They look alike but when doing scenes he was in dark then Light jacket plus one girl was wearing a necklace

Wonder what will happen tonight

Yogaandcocoa · 21/12/2021 17:23

I'm watching on iPlayer now and came to see if there was a thread. Enjoyed episode 1. Only after PPs mentioned Eastenders I realised I think Emma is the actress who was on Im a Celebrity last year? She seems more grown up in this somehow.

Enjoying episode 2 as well.

Wonder why they have a trigger warning for the mention of sexual assualt but not stillbirth. Are trigger warnings really necessary?

SoupDragon · 21/12/2021 17:24

They did have a warning about the stillbirth for the first one I think.
