New 4 part drama starting tomorrow night

Jane and Emma move into a rental that is an opportunity of a lifetime

It’s is a luxury Ultra minimalist pad

As long as they answer ledwards - the landlords strange questions and follows the rules that he sets ……….

Remember - if it is too good to be true then it probably is

@Blondeshavemorefun

Again the switch of emma and Jane rep with the necklace scene I could only tell by what Edward was wearing

Black blazer white top Emma

Black blazer black top Jane

So the rape was a lie by the burglar but she was raped

But not By Simon?

Or was it him and hence them asking her in front of him

Emma and Jane look so alike I get confused as to which one is on screen at any particular time.

This is a recurring issue with eg people in films with me though. I think I have mild Prosopagnosia. If there are two women with long blonde hair for example, I get confused as to which is which, or even when someone changes their clothes or hairstyle I sometimes don't recognise them. In this case it's the big bushy hair the two women have that does it. They dress similarly too.
I obviously rely on more than faces to recognise people.

Yogaandcocoa · 22/12/2021 08:51

But then again why would she then falsely accuse Simon of being abusive to save her neck? It's confusing because they've made us empathetic to her from the start.

I don't know if this was in episode 2 or 3 so not sure if this is a spoiler but simply

she lied to the police and saying Simon was abusive was a way to get out of trouble

SoupDragon · 22/12/2021 08:51

It's a much slower pace than so much on TV that I'm finding it a refreshing change.

Yes, I like it being slower. Sometimes they shove too much into each episode to compress the story.

SoupDragon · 22/12/2021 08:53

That was last night. Yes, her solicitor gave it to her as a way out specific to rape cases (I think that's what he said) - if she was lying because she was scared of the person with her, then she can get off.

Ep 3but was shown last night so not a spoiler

The lawyer hinted that if she had a reason she could get off

@Justkeeppedaling they are veey alike. That’s the point

I struggle who is is so hard knows how you cope with that disorder

Hence why I look to what he’s wearing to work out who is who

I got very confused watching LA Confidential until I realised that Kevin Spacey andRussell Crow weren't the same person 😂

EmmaGrundyForPM · 22/12/2021 09:58

I was very dismissive of "they look alike" because facially they are very different, but in last night's episode Jane wore her hair loose most of the time and I did get muddled.

I always get Leonardo di Caprio and Matt Damon muddled up.

IcedPurple · 22/12/2021 11:13

Has the therapist told the police that she thinks Edward was involved in Emma's death? Wasn't the official verdict that she had died of 'accidental causes'?

Surely the therapist would be legally obliged to speak to the police? I don't think confidentiality laws apply where a crime is suspected.

One would have thought

Though if just her suspicions …..

Only on ep 2 but have decided this is not Christmas TV, not because it's too dismal although it is but because at this time of year I want TV I can watch listen to whilst doing something else, not have to be glued to it to work out which woman is which and what the little messages say. Unbelievable as not liking anyone much. Architect is a bloke you'd run a mile from and house is cold and creepy. Some sympathy for stillbirth woman but where is her ex and friends and family. If I lived in a house like that on my own I'd expect to be butchered whilst I slept

IcedPurple · 22/12/2021 11:45

They seem like strong suspicions. She instantly warned Jane against Edward when she heard they were in a relationship. Surely she should have conveyed her suspicions to the police? What if Jane hadn't gone into talk to her?

Lilyargin · 22/12/2021 11:48

I thought this was awful. Too slow, too overdone, but worst of all, yet another drama about women being terrorised and killed served up as entertainment.
This has to stop.

2Rebecca · 22/12/2021 11:53

Agree with yet another drama about women as victims. Can we have some diversity of plot please BBC? I know women are frequently abused and killed by men but I don't think constantly showing it on TV helps reduce violence against women.
I don't like the "all men are bastards" type of drama either.

IcedPurple · 22/12/2021 11:58

Also agree about the dramatisation of women being killed. Very attractive women, in very glamorous settings, which is also a bit 'ick'.

At least here they don't seem to insist on showing graphic photos of the women, like in 'The Fall'. But the theme is rather tired. I recently watched the Danish series 'The Chestnut Man' on NF, and almost switched off when I found out it was yet another series about men killing women. And it wasn't even that good.

DixieSun · 22/12/2021 13:15

@purpleme12

oh right ok i'm clearly not following then here!
Don't worry, they deliberately made them look very similar.

I've got one episode left and have been enjoying it.

And they are all set in expensive ultra-modern, square, minimalist houses. And the staircases NEVER have handrails! At least this one isn't in the middle of nowhere, although there's no-one out and about in the street in the shots taken of the outside of the house.

That's my life!!
the80sweregreat · 22/12/2021 14:12

I couldn't live in a house without bannisters and those stairs look lethal ! Very very dangerous
In finding Alice drama on ITV , the husband fell down the stairs and died because it didn't have a bannister !!
I mean, it's a safety measure !!

Justkeeppedaling · 22/12/2021 14:22

I'm not even sure stairs without bannisters are legal

the80sweregreat · 22/12/2021 14:24

Those stairs make me feel uneasy !!
Horrible and yes illegal.

Justkeeppedaling · 22/12/2021 15:17

Even our stairs, with bannisters, are apparently illegal now - or they would be in a new house. We have a 1970s house, and the bannisters are two planks of wood in parallel with the stairs. The space between them is large enough for someone (a child) to fall through.

I could never live with no bannisters.

the80sweregreat · 22/12/2021 15:21

How would that house be signed off by the building regs without a simple safety measure like that ?
.. ridiculous

zafferana · 22/12/2021 15:32

Far too many dramas at the moment about people falling downstairs and dying/being badly injured!

I liked it. Figured out most of the twists in advance, tbh, but thought it was well acted. That house though - who on Earth would actually agree to live there? So creepy.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/12/2021 15:43

Yes the stairs are lethal

Plus if someone fell down them , surely you would make them safer

But I’m going with that he pushed her
