@Runningupthecurtains

Wonder if AJ has an aged Nan or a poorly pet to be wheeled out for the CC video. 😂 How about my sob story is....I don't have a sob story. I'm crying because I have absolutely nothing to cry about? Granny is fit and well, my dogs nose is wet and his coat is shiny, my siblings are OK but not so amazing I weep when their names are mentioned, I have my dream job, great friends and a happy life. Why? Why, don't I have a sad story to tell?
Maybe they'll have to use it to promote the showmance so she can say how Kai's changed her life and they can do more slow-motion running towards each other on Primrose Hill... 😂

@JacquelineCarlyle

I said exactly the same *@covetingthepreciousthings* - not sure when the format changed but wish it would go back to being people from the actual show (or a best of, like last year!).
I've said it before on these threads.. but I'll mention it again incase any strictly producers are lurking.. PLEASE can we have an "All Stars" series!?
MaggieFS · 23/11/2021 23:08

@TitsInAbsentia Never watch the Gordon, Gino and Fred road trip programmes then. Turns out he's not always Monsieur Charming after all 🙁

MyCatEatsPrawnCrackers · 23/11/2021 23:10

Dan will definitely find the rumba challenging but in a weird kind of way I'm looking forward to it. It's not like he's going to be stripped to the waist and doing his best sex face. Well, I hope not anyway!

JacquelineCarlyle · 23/11/2021 23:25

I'd love an All Stars series too @covetingthepreciousthings

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 24/11/2021 00:12

I'd be very Pro an All Stars series if we got people such as :

Danny Mac
Natalie Gumede
Alesha
Ramps

Odds are we would get :

Ed Balls
Russell Grant
Karim
Chris Hollins

That would be great, but a logistical impossibility probably, and doubtless no previous finalist wants to run the risk of finding themselves going out first

SoupDragon · 24/11/2021 08:20

I'm not sure I'd be that bothered about an All Stars version. There are dances I'd love to see again but not a full on competition

I know what you mean. They could potentially do a really sweet one about their friendship.

In previous years the Xmas one has sometimes been former Strictly slebs and sometimes random slebs who couldn't or didn't want to do the full show.

I prefer the random slebs format, TBH. There was one memorable year when the magnificent Sheila Hancock was on. I'd love to see more of that sort of thing.

boogiewithasuitcase · 24/11/2021 09:11

I would like to see AJ, Rose, Rhys, and John go through on Saturday but I can see why Dan and Tilly are so popular. I liked the way Tilly stood up for herself after those awful comments about her weight. Dan brings out Nadiya's sense of humour.

IntermittentParps · 24/11/2021 09:14

Couldn't agree more with both of these. Tilly is excellent. And Nadiya did used to seem a bit like an identikit posing blonde, but she's really warm and funny with Dan. I assume she brings out the best in him too, although I've never watched him doing his day job so don't know what his personality/persona is.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 24/11/2021 09:17

Re Tilly, I’m wondering if she might not pull a surprisingly good samba out of the bag on Saturday night. I still think the cha-cha was her best dance so far, and that generally doesn’t do anyone any favours either.

Runningupthecurtains · 24/11/2021 09:29

Prior to Strictly the most notable things about Dan were a brilliant job helping an old man he met in the park who was looking after the memorial for airmen who died in a WWii crash and judging people's poached eggs via social media. Make of that what you will!

Anyone judging poached eggs on social media gets my vote.
Oh and war memorial work too of course.

Plus she plays to his strengths at the same time and won't consciously outdance him.

boogiewithasuitcase · 24/11/2021 10:03

Oops bold fail

MyCatEatsPrawnCrackers · 24/11/2021 10:43

Dan does a great job on BBC Breakfast and seems like a decent bloke. What I really admire about him is how he refuses to work on Sundays due to his religious beliefs. I imagine that the industry he works in is pretty cut throat and making a stand like he does over his religion could make him less successful. I also like how he has paid tribute to his wife and kids, but not in the gushy way that Tom did. Although my votes will always go to John and Johannes, I do admire Dan.

So so true! Gawd the horror of that second lineup Grin

EsmaCannonball · 24/11/2021 14:30

Sheila Hancock dancing with Ian Waite on that Christmas Special really made me miss him as a pro. It just showed that an older celeb can do a beautiful and sophisticated dance. In fact he was great dancing with Rochelle Humes too. Their dance was a mess but they looked like they were having a riot.

ElftonWednesday · 24/11/2021 14:37

How can you put Karim in a list with Chris Hollins, Ed Balls and Russell Grant?

IntermittentParps · 24/11/2021 15:35

@ElftonWednesday

He was more annoying. Grin
IReallyLikeCrows · 24/11/2021 15:49

I tried very hard to warm to Karim but he just did my nut in and I couldn't get past it.

I've been rewatching a lot of Danny Mac this season, especially that samba. He was so bloody good.

SmellyOldOwls · 24/11/2021 16:17

Turned on the breakfast show that Dan presents the other day and he's actually really very attractive when he isn't wearing a lobster costume or just dancing in general. I never ever noticed him before Strictly, I thought he was a football presenter!

Elderflower14 · 24/11/2021 16:37

I loved the story that Dan did about Age UK and getting Terence his Christmas Tree..
