Dan and Nadiya a strange coupling...she’s gorgeous obviously and he comes across kind of non plussed and mr dull/robotic almost…

I agree with this - it’s really strange. He’s seems so ambivalent whereas most men (and probably a good number of women) would be salivating at the idea of dancing seductively with her in that sultry little red number Grin

I wonder how his wife was feeling last night watching their dance.

TSSDNCOP · 28/11/2021 12:14

I'll take Rhys's tears over Gordon's double hander that he's executed to camera every single week he's been in the audience.

Piggywaspushed · 28/11/2021 12:15

Oh, I loved Gary Speed so much Sad

Well done Dan .

TSSDNCOP · 28/11/2021 12:16

I wonder how his wife was feeling last night watching their dance.

Certain in the knowledge that even faced with a woman swirling seductively around him, Dan would look like a man wondering hard if he needed to buy more light bulbs.

bonfireheart · 28/11/2021 12:25

I don't think Dan's wife would be worried, even at the end when he was stroking Nadiya's hair it was like he was consoling his Nanna.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 28/11/2021 12:27
  1. I don't consider myself thread police
  1. I post that message weekly and people have never taken issue with it
  1. there’s never been anything remotely like a spoiler on this thread since, as far as I’m aware

I've seen the spoiler dressed as a guess twice this year. I would never in a million years directly confront the poster because that would only officially confirm and confronting not in the spirit of the thread.

  1. I personally, find it really irritating, but if people would rather be clapping people on the back for their insight when all they've done is read the spoiler then I'll stop posting about it.
  1. No one is "banned" from guessing but after the Spoiler goes live it seems like a fools errand, especially for the contingent that doesn't want to know.
Samcro · 28/11/2021 12:29

poor old dan gets a bashing on here. ok he isn't the best dancer, but he seems a nice man.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 28/11/2021 12:29

Grin I think Dan's wife would be realistic enough to know that his thoughts might be wandering a little from time to time in the company of Nadiya but that would be all.

Having said that, Nadiya is extra sparkly and bright this year. So he may have replaced her light bulb already - through wholesome and innocent acts of appreciation and attention, of course!

Maybe he just really loves his wife and takes his Christian values very seriously. Men and women can be just friends..
Maireas · 28/11/2021 12:31

Dan discussing Gary Speed was genuinely very moving as was his encouragement of men to talk about problems and seek help. As for Rhys, but he showed emotion, which I thought was genuine and also fine. He seems to have a lovely family and good support.

lollipoprainbow · 28/11/2021 12:51

@TSSDNCOP same I find it odd that he's in tears at Tilly every week.

lollipoprainbow · 28/11/2021 12:54

Re Gordon and Tilly, I can't imagine many dads bawling at seeing their daughters dancing ! I get that's he's proud of her but I find it all a bit strange to be honest.

JacquelineCarlyle · 28/11/2021 13:00

Just watched the show this morning - absolutely loved AJ & Kai - can't believe they didn't get 40 & that Cynthia gave both Dan and Rhys a higher score than her!

I thought Dan did a great job with the rumba as that's hard for the male celebrity. I felt for Tilly as the samba is tough too, but again thought she gave it a good go.

I'm bored of J&J too - it seems to be the Johannes show (as always) and he really shows John up. Even the camera angle focused on Johannes (or maybe it didn't but his dancing made me look at him and not John at all).

I love Rose and Gio so hope they're safe.

I've no idea who has gone but I hope AJ & Rose are safe. Ideally, for me, Rhys will go as I like him the least but not really bothered now by who goes as long as Rose and AJ are through!

WeAreTheHeroes · 28/11/2021 13:29

There's nothing strange about Dan and Nadiya. Just because she's absolutely gorgeous and he isn't sexually interested in her that we can tell doesn't make it odd. Means he's a gentleman with strong family values. She clearly enjoys dancing with him - she's probably used to creeps hitting on her and Dan's a refreshing, respectful change.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 28/11/2021 13:48

I agree, she seems very relaxed and happy in his company.

JacquelineCarlyle · 28/11/2021 13:55

I agree too @WeAreTheHeroes

WeAreTheHeroes · 28/11/2021 13:59

I also really like Dan as a person from what I've seen of him. He's a genuine, lovely guy. Just because you don't find him sexy or attractive doesn't make him dull.

Crappykitchen · 28/11/2021 14:02

I've always loved Dan on BBC Breakfast, him and Louise Minchin always came across as thoroughly decent people

JacquelineCarlyle · 28/11/2021 14:06

I've just watched his Gary Speed video - so moving, heartbreaking!

I do really like Dan.

Piggywaspushed · 28/11/2021 14:09

Literally Dan's piece on BBC about Gary Speed was about men bottling up emotions and on this thread people are opining that men who cry are weeping 'crocodile tears' , that fathers shouldn't cry in pride at their daughters and that Johannes should rein his tears in after years of bottling things up. And, conversely, somehow Dan isn't a real red blooded man because he doesn't seem to fancy Nadiya IRL and this makes him dull.

Hmm
BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 28/11/2021 14:13

I'm not saying men shouldn't cry. I'm saying it's boring when anyone on a dancing show does it all the time.

Maireas · 28/11/2021 14:13

Very good points, @Piggywaspushed

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 28/11/2021 14:29

Really well said @Piggywaspushed

My dad would absolutely have bawled his eyes out.
