SPOILER-FREE THREAD

Oh yes polka, it's a bit beauty pageant weird for me. I think that's what people envision when 'ballroom' is mentioned.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 28/11/2021 07:40

OutwiththeOutCrowd

For me, there's something rather endearing about a man that's a little on the starchy side - Dan - doing sensual dancing with a hot woman.

The fact that he's not terribly good at it just adds to the appeal.

(This may be a weird opinion, I know!)

I know what you mean. Like Colin Firth and Piers Brosnan (and the others) singing quite badly in Mama Mia; it gave the story credibility and made it more appealing somehow... and the producers must have known that; they could easily have had professional singers dubbed in otherwise.

“ J&J marked too high imo. No constructive criticism, just fawning from the judges. Johannes still did most of the shining in that dance.”

I agree. I don’t think I’m seeing what others are seeing. Johannes did all the dancing and John just supported him. As a performance, it was well constructed with the lights and music (especially the music), but I didn’t get the love for them tonight.

alborana · 28/11/2021 07:57

Smellyoldowls I agree about Tilly. She's worked really hard at the dancing and you can see her becoming strong and fit. She seems very nice and polite and DH and I were saying last night what a lovely young woman she is.

I completely disagree about J&J- it was the most impressive of the ATs so far this season, very evenly danced (yes, John was doing the lifts, Johannes doing the kicks) but lots of push and pull and a proper AT, really really good.

AJ and Rhys undermarked, Dan hopelessly overmarked apart from the six from Craig. It wasn't the worst male rumba I've seen but definitely Nadia doing all the work twizzling about while he vaguely swayed about, which has been done dozens of times before.

There has been some odd scoring before, but for the first time in the series Cynthia actually made me properly angry by giving Dan a nine and Rhys an eight, as it was just so absolutely unfounded in reality and bonkers.

MaggieFS · 28/11/2021 08:48

On the no spoilers thing, I 100% agree on no spoilers plus no anything which might be indicative e.g. the sad face people in the papers.

But is it being said that we shouldn't speculate at all just in case some twat comes on to pretend guess and spoils it? How would we know anyway? Surely that's sucking some of the fun out of the thread? Don't remember that rule from previous years?

Anyway, sorry if my genuine guess last night offended. It's the first time all series I've actually managed to watch the show and catch up with the thread on the evening.

I guess now I'll just go and talk to myself about who it might be 🤷‍♀️

ILoveAGlassofFizzy · 28/11/2021 08:57

@EineReiseDurchDieZeit

Yes, I'll allow its harder at the thin end of the wedge *@bonfireheart* - but were you here last year when someone literally came purposely on weekly?

Its just a friendly reminder to be kind to other posters, thats all

Fair enough, but its certainly wasnt friendly:

"DON'T BE A TWAT AND DON'T POST THE RESULT AS A FAUX INNOCENT "GUESS" AT ANY TIME INC DURING THE RESULT SHOW"

DontGiveAFlyingFig · 28/11/2021 08:58

Just caught up with last nights show, the marking was pretty bonkers and I missed Motsi's exuberance.

Dan's rumba wasn't as cringy as I thought it would be, Johannes seemed much quieter and let John talk more, loved Rose and AJ and thought both were under marked.

I don't think Nancy & Rhys have the best relationship they seem disconnected somehow. Tilly's was a bit all over the place.

No idea who'll be in the bottom two & I daren't post my predictions in case I get it right and get banned for posting a spoiler! Glitterball

Agree. Not all that different to what others are saying about Dan. Basically the dancer danced around the celebrity.

I'm bored of JJ now.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 28/11/2021 09:02

@BlameItOnTheBlackStar

We voted AJ, Rose, and Dan tonight.

I'd have liked to remove a vote from Rhys for his shitty fake crying. All that sobbing and I think he managed to squeeze one tear out.

DH and I are still scarred by Ore sobbing every single episode in the year that he was in it, so when Rhys started last night we were traumatised all over again. Given that Johannes appears to be permanently silently weeping in any conversation with Tess, the judges or Claud, you’d think we’d be used to it by now but no.
lollipoprainbow · 28/11/2021 09:07

I found AJ and Kai uncomfortable to watch after all the rumors about them. It felt like watching a private dance between them. They should save their sizzling and breathy looks at each other for after the show.

Redcrayons · 28/11/2021 09:09

I don’t mind the guessing during the results show, I don’t keep track of the thread enough to know who’s right every week. I’m assuming everyone enjoys not knowing and speculating the same as I do.

I 100% agree about spoilers and hints about spoilers and I have reported in the past.

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 28/11/2021 09:10

@TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross that's mainly why I'm sick of JJ now! What's he always crying for? He's doing his job. If I started weeping every time I went to work my boss would have words. It's so odd.

Phineyj · 28/11/2021 09:13

He's trying not to laugh, that's my theory Grin. She's so odd! I'm trying not to laugh now imagining if she was my colleague.

DontWantTheRivalry · 28/11/2021 09:19

So are we not allowed to discuss who we think might be in the bottom two??

CampagVelocet · 28/11/2021 09:21

There are only six couples left. It's a competition. It's going to be quite hard to discuss the performances without talking about who has done well and who hasn't, and straying into what the self-appointed thread police deem 'spoilers'. If I say I think Tilly wasn't very good and might be in trouble (which I do), and it turns out she's in the dance off (which she has a one in three chance of being - that's just maths), that isn't a spoiler because I don't know the result. It's just an observation and my opinion.

Samcro · 28/11/2021 09:23

i am just hoping people saw through Rhys crocodile tears and he is in the DO

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 28/11/2021 09:26

Well it's only a spoiler if you know the results and post them. Otherwise I don't see why we can't discuss it.

I think Dan and Tilly, and Dan will go. But I would prefer it to be either Tilly or Rhys to go. I thought poor Tilly looked quite embarrassed last night.

lollipoprainbow · 28/11/2021 09:29

I think Rhys tears are genuine he's clearly on the edge. Feel for him.

CampagVelocet · 28/11/2021 09:34

I do feel for Rhys. I worry a bit because he looked genuinely distraught. It's meant to be fun!

ilovebrie8 · 28/11/2021 09:41

I feel for Rhys he looks fragile he wasn’t in great shape last week when he was saved in the DO, he looked disheartened... I wonder if Nancy and him just don’t gel! Didn’t like Tilly’s dance and agree with Craig’s comments about Dan he was poor. He should go but I’ve been saying that for weeks ...and he’s still in it

DontWantTheRivalry · 28/11/2021 09:44

I thought Rhy’s tears were genuine. I think he’s just on the brink of total collapse if he’s not careful. I almost want him to he eliminated just so he can take some time out and rest.

I’m genuinely worried about Rose but I think the public will save her.

There was a point where I used to think Dan would be out each week, but every week he’s saved by the public so I don’t think this week will be any different.

I loved AJ and John so they will be through I’m sure.

I think Tilly and Rhys will be in the dance off but I have no idea who they’d save! (Hopefully they’d keep Tilly though for the reasons I mentioned above about concerns for how Rhys is coping).

CaveMum · 28/11/2021 09:45

There’s no harm in speculating on who you think the bottom two are/should be. The “no spoilers” are more aimed at those posters who plop with their faux “oh I’m really disappointed/shocked with who has left” before the results show has aired.

By rights, for me, it should be Dan and Tilly as they were the two weakest dancers, a shame for Tilly as she’s come so far but there really is nowhere to hide in a Samba (or a Rumba for that matter).

mydogisthebest · 28/11/2021 09:49

@Samcro

i am just hoping people saw through Rhys crocodile tears and he is in the DO
I don't think they were crocodile tears. I gave him all my 3 votes because I think he is a pretty good dancer and I didn't want to see him in the dance off again.

Some people, women AND men, are emotional. I cry at anything and everything and even if I try really hard I can't stop myself.

I also don't get the hate for JoJo crying. He has always been very emotional and cries easily. This year he is in the first male/male dance pairing, he has got further than he did previous years and, on the whole, the judges are praising his and John's dances. I think it is obvious why he is crying and perfectly acceptable

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 28/11/2021 09:57

I don't not understand emotions, I'm saying do they need to be shit all over episode, every few minutes someone else is emoting all over the shop. We get it. It's a journey. You've made friends for life. Oh just dance for goodness' sake.
