SPOILER-FREE THREAD

@EineReiseDurchDieZeit

If I've offended you Maireas I apologise. Up for a curry anytime!
I've booked us in. Early bird dinner. Space for zimmer frames Wink
EsmaCannonball · 21/11/2021 23:24

I bought some sleeve garters from Miss Selfridge when I was in my teens. I only wore them once as they were bloody uncomfortable. I guess if you've got actual biceps providing a bit of resistance they don't constrict your blood flow until your face starts to turn purple.

ilovesooty · 21/11/2021 23:27

Thanks for the thread. Glad Tom has gone.

TawnyPippit · 21/11/2021 23:35

I put this on the other thread:

I was just quite entertained by the judges:

Saturday - Tom, you should actually cry..let it out - cry.

“Sunday” - oops, crying now, mate?

Smile
iklboo · 21/11/2021 23:38

Sleeve garters made a comeback around the time double cuff shirts and cufflinks came back in a big way around 20 years ago.

Ooh yes, I had a couple of pairs myself. Dimwit ex stretched the bejesus out of them putting them on his biceps and working out. Tool.

DuchessOfDisaster · 21/11/2021 23:43

@Maireas

Anyone else care to join me for a Dan Sack at Priti Raj in Sheffield? It helps if you're elderly.
'Tis my local curry house.
Gooseysgirl · 22/11/2021 00:17

Checking in Glitterball I'm glad Tom is out. Samba will definitely be a test for Tilly!

herecomesthsun · 22/11/2021 00:22

I find Rose's routines the most memorable.

The couples' choice dance with the silence in it.

Her beautiful waltz in a white dress

The scary snow queen / witch

The dance with the signed argument with Gio that was so moving.

@Blahblahblow

Rose and Gio will definitely win, but Dan will be a close second. The public love him!
I very much doubt it re Dan. The public keep voting in popular slebs only up to a point - when it potentially means bumping off a better dancer, they tend to change their minds. Witness people like Ed Balls, Ann Widdecombe etc.

I thought this week he was definitely better than both Tom and Rhys, not least because he managed to keep in time. But I suspect he's going to come a cropper soon, especially if he has to do a Latin dance.

Wingedharpy · 22/11/2021 01:08

I enjoyed Cynthia as a judge, though, I've never heard of her before.
I thought she brought some dignity and decorum to the proceedings, and I loved her frocks on both shows.

ChessieFL · 22/11/2021 06:21

I’m another who kept forgetting Tom was still in it so I’m glad he’s gone.

SpindlesWhorl · 22/11/2021 06:37

Anything where Tilly has to go back into high heels might affect her negatively. She was great in the Matilda dance partly because she was in those flats and had a lot of freedom to 'go for it'.

I ca barely walk in high heels, let alone dance.

I have never taken to Dan Walker either. He strikes me the sort that would be looking over your shoulder at a party to find someone more worthy of his time to talk to.

SoSobored · 22/11/2021 07:06

Not to announce everyone with SEN but is there something wrong with Rhys? He has so much energy and seems like 'too much' if that makes sense? Especially when he's talking to Claud.

BogRollBOGOF · 22/11/2021 07:26

He's probably on the equivilent of a runner's high after many of those high-energy dances. Aside from technique, I'd be pretty wired after putting that much into a jive! It can take a while for my brain and body to syncronise again after my final blast of a sprint where I've put everything into a run.
SoupDragon · 22/11/2021 07:34

Ed was amazing - he absolutely couldn't dance but he had great timing and threw himself into it with such joy and enthusiasm. He went at the right time in the end.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 22/11/2021 07:34

I think samba might be a challenge for Tilly next week. The judges saved her this week with their frankly bizarre marking of her but surely she, Rhys and Dan must feel their time is nearly up.

SoupDragon · 22/11/2021 07:37

I think Rhys is just high on the adrenaline. Lots of the celebrities are "over excited" when they get to Claudia. I've had to pick DD up after drama and dance performances and she's always buzzing for ages afterwards - doesn't stop talking!

NancyDrawed · 22/11/2021 07:41

Samba seems to be the end of a lot of celebrities on Strictly, I am always anxious when someone I like has it.

So Tilly having this dance so late on in the competition could potentially be tactical. Or just the (un)luck on the draw.

cordelia16 · 22/11/2021 07:44

@BeaLola

In my head I was trying to work out what Rose hasn't done-

Is it
Rumba
Charleston
Argentine Tango
Waltz ?

She also hasn't done

Paso Doble
American Smooth

Samcro · 22/11/2021 08:00

lot of agism on this thread.
I vote for dan as I enjoy his "journey" and he and AJ are the only 2 left who I "know"
Rhys dances are too samesy for me.
Tom was bottom of the leader board so right choice.

lollipoprainbow · 22/11/2021 08:09

What the fuck is a 'journey' such a cliche !!

TheDrsDocMartens · 22/11/2021 08:14

Dan has been improving, so I can see why people have voted for him. Tom mentioning doing Oliver as a kid may have worked against him as some people went ‘ stage school’ and voted elsewhere.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Rhys was hyperactive. But adrenaline and nerves won’t be helping. There’s been a few on strictly with ADHD.

Tom fans are kicking off on twitter!

SoupDragon · 22/11/2021 08:38

Dan still can't "dance" though. He can do the steps and has rhythm but there's no dance... I would be the same!

Louis Smith was similar. He discovered acting when he did the Charleston and his dancing improved immensely after that. I think Chris Ramsey suddenly got the "dancing" aspect of it too.

VittysCardigan · 22/11/2021 08:39

How do they decide which dance the couples will do? Is it like the football draws/bingo/lottery? I like the idea of a machine full of coloured ping pong balls & an official in white gloves announcing the dances
